Realme Narzo N53 Design and Build

Realme Narzo N53 comes with a stylish and appealing design on the back. I have the Feather Gold colour variant of the phone which looks amazing and way better than any other phone in this segment.

Realme Narzo N53 Design

You get a dazzling and sparkly glossy finish on the back that gives it a really different vibe. It has flat edges and curved corners, similar to iPhone 13. In fact, the triple lens setup on the back looks exactly like iPhone 13 Pro model.

Apart from that, it is the slimmest realme smartphone ever with 7.49mm thickness and also quite lightweight, weighing just about 182 grams. The in-hand feel of the phone is good and although it’s a big phone, it’s quite handy.

Realme Narzo N53 Build

The right side has the power button which doubles as the fingerprint scanner along with volume rockers. The left side has the SIM card slot. The top is clean while the bottom has the type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack and loudspeaker.

Realme Narzo N53 Camera

Realme Narzo N53 features a dual camera setup on the back. You might think it’s a triple camera setup, but no. It has a 50MP main camera, an AI lens and the third one is just an LED flash.

Realme Narzo N53 Camera

The main camera took some good shots in daylight conditions. The details were decent and the colours also looked good and vibrant. Dynamic range was not the best but that’s okay. Overall output was good for the price.

Portrait shots were good as well. The result was more or less the same as the normal mode. Edge detection worked fine and the background blur looked decent. Low light shots were just bad. Anyways considering the price, I did not expect much in low-light performance.

The front camera takes decent selfies in proper lighting conditions. The selfies looked appealing and skin tones looked nice as well. Low-light selfies were not up to par.

Realme Narzo N53 Battery and Charging

Realme Narzo N53 packs a big 5000mAh battery that offers a solid battery backup. A casual user like me can easily get two days of battery backup from the phone. A heavy user who scrolls Instagram the whole day can still get full day backup from it.

Realme Narzo N53 Battery

I got more than 6 hours of screen on time which is great. You also get a typical battery saver mode that further extends the battery life.

Realme Narzo N53 Charging

The phone is paired with 33W fast charging which takes about an hour and forty minutes to fully charge the phone from 0 to 100 per cent. A quick change of 20 minutes juices the battery to about 35 per cent.

Realme Narzo N53 Display

Realme Narzo N53 features an FHD 6.74 inches IPS LCD display that offers a nice viewing experience at a budget price. It has a 90Hz refresh rate which is the fastest you get at this price segment, along with 450 nits of peak brightness.

Realme Narzo N53 Display

The phone gets decently bright for indoor use. However, I struggled to use the phone under direct sunlight. You get a water-drop notch style display which offers good colours and viewing angles.

The content on the screen looks sharp and crisp. The bezels are thin on all sides except for the thick chin, which is acceptable at this price.

Realme Narzo N53 Display quality

Other than that, I really enjoyed using the display of the Narzo N53. The scrolling experience was smooth. I watched some videos on YouTube as well, and my experience was decent enough.

Realme Narzo N53 Performance and Software

Realme Narzo N53 features a Unisoc T612 chipset which can handle only the basic tasks easily. It is paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You even get the RAM expansion feature which further extends the RAM by 6GB ( in 6GB variant) for a total of 12GB of RAM!

Realme Narzo N53 Performance

While this feature doesn’t really help much in everyday life, it’s a good one to have. Keeping that aside, the phone handles everyday tasks like calling, texting, taking photos and watching videos with ease.

However, the problem comes in when you try to run heavy apps or games on it. Apps like Instagram and Snapchat lag a bit. Just forget about intensive gaming on this. It is not meant for that.

Realme Narzo N53 Gaming Performance

You can play casual games like Candy Crush and Subway Surfers. I even tried playing Ahsalt 9 on low settings but the experience was not good at all.

Realme Narzo N53 runs on Realme UI T Edition which is based on Android 13 out of the box. Realme has offered a stock-like Andriod experience which I really loved. The control panel and settings menu looks quite good.

Realme Narzo N53 Software

On the other hand, Realme has stuffed the Narzo N53 with a bunch of third-party apps and bloatware which somewhat ruins the stock Android feel. These apps include Facebook, Snapchat, ShareChat, DailyHunt, Moj, Spotify, Hot Apps, Hot Games and many more.

Realme Narzo N53 Bloatware

Verdict

Realme Narzo N53 is a good budget phone that offers almost the best in the segment. Be it design, battery, charging or display experience. The main camera also does a good job in good lighting conditions.

I feel like the performance of the phone could have been better. Stock-like UI offers a great software experience but the amount of bloatware and ads on the phone hampers the overall experience. Nonetheless, it’s a great option for someone who wants a nice looking phone under 10K with solid battery life.
