    OnePlus 12 Design And Build

The OnePlus 12 boasts a beautiful design, and its in-hand feel is premium. The choice of colours, the design on the back, the details inside the camera part, and the smooth, clean glass on the back. I can confidently say that everything is beautiful and memorable after using it for almost 15 days.

    OnePlus 12 Long-Term Review

This phone has a body dimension of 164.3 x 75.8 x 9.2 mm and weighs 220 grams, making it slightly bulky. But, its curved design gives a perfect grip to hold the phone.

    side design

This phone also has a glass front with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and a glass back with Gorilla Glass. So, it protects the device from accidental falls. Its aluminium frame also gives stability.

    top design

In terms of buttons, the right side of the phone features a power button and volume button, while its left side has a slider for silent, vibration, and ring modes, similar to the Apple iPhone 15.

    side design

You see an IR blaster, a microphone and a secondary speaker on the top of the phone. Hence, a speaker, a Type-C slot, a microphone, and a SIM tray are located on the bottom of the phone.

    bottom design

The OnePlus 12 features an IP65 dust-tight and water-resistant design. So, it can only resist low-pressure water jets. One thing also needs to be added is that the circular camera module is a signature design element of OnePlus flagships with the Hasselblad logo.

    OnePlus 12 Camera

The OnePlus 12 features a powerful camera setup, comprising a 50MP primary sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a 64MP periscope telephoto lens.

OnePlus 12 Long-Term Review: Camera design

The primary camera takes detailed shots, especially in daylight. You get crisp images with good contrast and clarity. However, sometimes the HDR can be a bit too aggressive; it lifts shadows too much, making the image look overly polished or artificial.

    OnePlus 12 camera sample

I clicked a bunch of photos with the OnePlus 12 in different conditions and portraits. The portrait mode works great most of the time; the edges are perfectly sharp, and you can even see my hair in the air, captured perfectly. Yes, skin tones tend to be slightly smoothed even when beauty filters are off.

    camera sample

I compared it with my Apple iPhone 15, and while the OnePlus 12’s images looked brighter, the Apple iPhone 15 image had more natural colours overall. That said, the OnePlus handles details better in zoom shots, thanks to the 3x periscope lens.

    camera zoom ability

This camera makes one of my favourite activities, zooming into images, even more enjoyable. Even at the minuscule 6x zoom, the images appear pristine for a quick social media post. Although the phone boasts an astonishing 120x digital zoom, it is merely for show.

    portrait mode

The phone’s low-light camera performance has been significantly improved. The nightscape mode produces a lot of light without blowing out highlights. I clicked a few shots when it was nearly dark, and honestly, the outcomes were better than what I expected.

    OnePlus 12 portrait mode

On the front, it boasts a 32MP selfie camera, offering the best selfie result. I think I got a little bit of saturation in front camera as well, but it’s ok as compared to others.

    Oneplus 12 front camera

You can capture effortless videos at 8K with impressive specs, including 24 frames per second, and transition to 4K with a whopping 60 frames per second. Its dynamic electronic image stabilisation allows for handheld shooting to become tremendously stable, even when on the move.

OnePlus 12 camera in low light conditions

Overall, the OnePlus 12 long-term camera review is positive, but both cameras have a slight saturation issue, which is excellent compared to others at the same price in 2025.

    OnePlus 12 Battery And Charging

Now, let’s discuss the battery of the OnePlus 12. Overall, battery life is excellent in every type of use, thanks to the 5400mAh battery. Even with Always-On Display off, we get only 5–6 hours of SOT (Screen On Time). At the same time, the screen-on time has come down to between 7.3 and 8 hours, which is considered quite good.

    OnePlus 12 battery life

Regarding the drain, there was no significant drain when the phone was left idle overnight. Meaning the battery is now efficient. Additionally, 100W fast charging is also available, making it even more appealing. This phone takes approximately 55 minutes or one hour to charge fully. Overall, the battery of the OnePlus 12 is average compared to 2025 phones, which are being launched with 7000mAh batteries.

    OnePlus 12 Display

The OnePlus 12 features a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display, which is quite impressive. The outdoor visibility of this phone is excellent, thanks to its high brightness mode of 1600 nits, which makes the screen highly readable even in direct sunlight.

    OnePlus 12 display

I have used this phone extensively outdoors for navigation, chatting, and other tasks, and never experienced any visibility issues. However, when it comes to content viewing, I noticed a minor issue.

    Refresh rate

I watched a movie, and the playback was smooth. The colours also looked good, and the HDR processing was fine. However, during the movie, the shadows in the dark areas were utterly crushed. That area seemed completely dead. This issue did not occur only in that movie, and it sometimes happens randomly as well.

    OnePlus 12 display quality

This phone has an always-on display, but it consumes more battery than usual. Moreover, it has a 90.8 per cent screen-to-body ratio and a display resolution of 1440 x 3168 pixels. and 510 PPI density.

    Display quality

One thing also needs to be added here: you may experience accidental taps due to the curved display, as I have many times during BGMI. Overall, the OnePlus 12 display is excellent in a long-term review.

    OnePlus 12 Performance

The OnePlus 12 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, built on the efficient 4 nm process, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. My variant comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, although it’s also available in other configurations, such as 8GB + 128GB and 16GB + 512GB, depending on the region.

I conducted several Benchmark tests on the OnePlus 12 to evaluate its accurate performance in various aspects. Its Geekbench CPU scores are 1987 in single-core and 5904 in multi-core. The maximum in the CPU throttling test is 82 per cent. Moreover, its Antutu score is 1613246. The 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme Stress Test for stability has an overall score of 64.5 per cent.

    OnePlus 12 benchmark results

It offers the best performance, whether gaming or switching between resource-intensive applications. Additionally, a GT mode enables the chipset to optimise for demanding gaming scenarios. This specific mode does seem to assist with more demanding titles, at the very least when combined with the phone’s vapour chamber cooling.

    gaming ability

Gameplay on the OnePlus 12 was a blast, and I found the experience satisfying, especially with how well the device held up under demand. Of course, there’s a slight noticeable elevation in temperature during heavier gameplay sessions, but that is to be expected from any flagship device.

One of my favourite features is the Bypass Charging, which, as the name suggests, helps keep the device cool while charging during gaming sessions. There is also an entire section dedicated to performance tuning in the settings, providing control over power and thermal balance.

Overall, in my OnePlus 12 long-term review, I’d say the performance is excellent. It’s fast, responsive, and handles sustained loads better than many others in its segment.

    OnePlus 12 Software And UI

My experience with the OnePlus 12 over the past few weeks has been quite positive, especially with the software. It runs on OxygenOS 14, which is based on Android 14, and personally, this is one of the better custom Android skins out there. It does offer additional functionality, but it is still close to stock Android, which I appreciate.

    OnePlus 12 Long-Term Review: Amdroid 14

I appreciate fluidity as well, which has not been a problem. App transitions are smooth, notifications do not cause lag, and animations are precise. Overall, I found no issues with performance after using it daily for two weeks. In my opinion,

    System deatils

Customisation options are my favourite, and there are plenty to choose from, including adjusting the always-on display, taking a break using Zen Mode, changing icon packs, and customising gestures. It is possible to personalise the experience. For me, it’s a quick way to access widgets and apps. There’s still some bloatware, not a dealbreaker, but I’d prefer a cleaner out-of-the-box setup. Otherwise, it can slow down your phone.

Overall, the software experience stands out as a highlight in my OnePlus 12 long-term review. It’s reliable, fluid, and gives me the flexibility I want without trying too hard to be different.

    Verdict

After nearly two weeks of usage, my OnePlus 12 long-term review shows that the phone still holds up impressively well in 2025. It offers flagship performance, a remarkable AMOLED screen, consistent battery life and a stunning design. Although it has some shortcomings, such as being slightly heavy and experiencing slight overheating, these issues are hardly significant in the grand scheme of things.

If you’re looking for options within the same price bracket, the iQOO 12 and Realme GT 7, which I’m using for review, are also excellent choices, offering reliable performance and features, respectively. However, those who are not willing to spend on a 2025 flagship price and wish for a well-balanced flagship experience, the OnePlus 12 is a wise choice.
