OnePlus 13R Design and Build
I personally really like the design of the OnePlus 13R. It features a metal frame and a glass back, which gives it a premium feel in the hand. The frame is flat and boxy, with a large circular camera module on the back that gives the phone a distinct identity.

The device weighs approximately 206 grams and is about 8mm thick; however, it does feel a bit heavy. But this weight also contributes to a sense of sturdiness and reliability, which we often feel in flagship devices.

The phone includes OnePlus’s signature alert slider, which allows you to quickly toggle between ring, vibrate, and silent modes. I find it very useful, especially when watching live matches or attending meetings, for instantly silencing the phone. One more reason is that I’m similarly attached to the silent slider button on my iPhone 15.

The OnePlus 13R has an IP65 rating, which means it is dust-tight and protected against water jets, so it can handle splashes and light rain. It is not meant for submerging in water.

The in-display fingerprint sensor is fast and reliable. The back is glass, so I would suggest using the phone with a cover. I was using it without one, and it fell from a good height. The back panel did not break, but it came slightly loose from the fall.

Apart from that, I have no complaints about the build quality even after months of use. There are no creaks, and the buttons and USB-C port work fine. In my opinion, the phone stands out from the competition at this price point in terms of design and build, but I would still recommend a cover for extra protection.

OnePlus 13R Camera
The OnePlus 13R features a 50MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto camera, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Let me state up front that the camera is the weakest link in this phone. It isn’t bad, but if you are looking for an excellent camera in a phone priced around ₹50,000, you might be a bit disappointed.

In good lighting, especially outdoors in sunlight, the photos turn out well. You can take good pictures in beautiful places in perfect condition, like mountains and natural landscapes.

But in challenging conditions, you will see actual camera performance where it turns to decent. The main camera is perfectly capable of handling everyday shots, such as photos of friends and family or images intended for social media.

The telephoto lens is nothing special either, and zoomed-in photos lack impressive detail. Since the ultra-wide camera is only 8MP, you shouldn’t expect much from it, either. Selfies taken with the front camera sometimes exhibit noticeable over-sharpening.

I also recorded a video during the OnePlus 13R long-term review, where I can clearly say the quality is terrible; you can watch the video sample yourself- just click on the link.
In my opinion, it’s an “okay” camera that covers basic needs, but this isn’t a phone you should buy for its camera. I personally use an iPhone 15 as my primary device, and whenever I need to take photos, I reach for the iPhone. I view the OnePlus 13R not as a “camera phone,” but rather as a device built for performance and entertainment.
OnePlus 13R Battery and Charging
The OnePlus 13R features a large 6000mAh battery, which is one of its major strengths. With heavy usage, including playing BGMI, watching live matches, and using social media, I get about 7 to 8 hours of screen-on time, and the battery comfortably lasts through the day.

However, to be honest, I have noticed a slight decline in battery life following a few updates. Previously, I got about 10 to 11 hours of screen-on time, but now it’s dropped to about 7 to 8 hours. While this isn’t a major battery drain issue, and the phone still lasts a full day, I hope OnePlus improves battery optimisation in future updates.
The phone supports 80W fast charging, and the box includes an 80W charger. During my OnePlus 13R long-term review, I mostly used my Apple 20W charger instead. With it, the phone charges fully in about 1 hour 20 to 25 minutes.
OnePlus 13R Display
The OnePlus 13R’s display is one of its greatest strengths. It features a large, approximately 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The display is large and bright, producing excellent colours.

I primarily use the phone for BGMI and entertainment like watching live matches, streaming content on YouTube and Netflix, scrolling through Instagram Reels, and checking Facebook. During the OnePlus 13R long-term review, I have never encountered any display issues while performing these tasks.
I recently watched NZ vs India T20 live cricket matches on such a large screen; it is a great experience. Scrolling feels incredibly smooth, a level of fluidity that is immediately noticeable, even when switching from an iPhone to this device.

The brightness is also impressive; the screen remains easily readable even outdoors in direct sunlight. In the months I’ve used it, I’ve never struggled to view the display under the sun. It is largely the quality of this display that keeps me spending so much time on this phone.

The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, which adds some scratch and drop protection.
As for the sound, the phone lacks Dolby Atmos support, a feature I do miss. However, the speakers are loud, and the sound quality is decent enough for watching videos or playing games. The audio output is also good when using headphones.
OnePlus 13R Performance
I am very impressed with the performance of the OnePlus 13R. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the same chip found in the previous-generation flagship. Having such a powerful chipset in a device priced under ₹43,000 is a significant advantage. Even the base variant comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, so there’s no need to worry about multitasking or running out of space.
Even after months of use, the phone performs just as well as it did on the first day. I haven’t experienced any noticeable slowdowns, app crashes, or freezing. Apps open quickly, switching between them is seamless, and background apps remain stable. This level of smoothness is especially important when using the phone for a mix of social media, video streaming, and gaming.

Gaming is a big part of how I use the phone, and I play a lot of BGMI on it. The gaming performance is impressive; the game runs smoothly on medium settings. Honestly, I had the Google Pixel 10 and the OPPO Reno 16 in parallel, but I never chose them over the OnePlus 13R for serious BGMI gameplay.
I only noticed the phone heating up when playing BGMI continuously for two to three hours on medium settings. If you play on high settings, the device might heat up sooner due to the increased load on the chipset.
In my view, this is quite normal for any gaming-capable phone; almost every device tends to heat up when running high-end games for several hours at a stretch. During everyday tasks such as using social media, watching live matches, or streaming videos, I haven’t encountered any heating issues.
OnePlus 13R Software and UI
I really liked the software on the OnePlus 13R. For me, the animations in OxygenOS 16 are a major highlight of this phone. I’d give OnePlus 10 out of 10. The animations when opening and closing apps are incredibly smooth, and there’s a sense of fluidity throughout the entire UI. App launch times are also fast.

The software integration is well-executed, and the overall look is clean and attractive. I also use an iPhone, so I have a solid benchmark for comparison, yet I still find the software experience on the OnePlus to be excellent. Compared to other Android phones, OxygenOS 16 feels smoother and more polished.

OnePlus’s commitment to long-term support is impressive. The company has promised 4 major Android updates and 6 years of security updates, which is excellent for this price point. This means that if you purchase this phone today, you can continue using it for several years to come.

The OnePlus 13R comes with the OnePlus AI Suite, offering several AI-powered features to improve productivity and everyday usage. Plus Mind and Mind Space let users save and organise content with smart summaries and AI Search, while AI Writer, AI Summary, and AI Speak help write, refine, summarise, and read content aloud.

For photography, AI Eraser, AI Unblur, AI Detail Boost, and AI Reframe help enhance and edit images. It also offers AI VoiceScribe for call and meeting transcription, AI Translation for cross-language communication, and Google Gemini for everyday assistance.
After several months of use, my OnePlus 13R long-term review has been largely positive. Despite being my secondary phone, it is the device I use most. Its display, performance, design, and software experience remain impressive. Whether I’m playing BGMI, watching live matches, or scrolling through social media, it handles everyday tasks effortlessly. However, the camera is average for a phone in this price segment, the phone heats up during 2–3-hour gaming sessions, and battery life has dropped slightly after a few updates.
Overall, the OnePlus 13R remains a solid choice if you prioritise performance, display quality, build quality, and software support. It is particularly suitable for gamers and multimedia enthusiasts. However, if camera quality is your priority, you might want to explore other options. Apart from these drawbacks, it remains a reliable phone for its price.
