Lava Agni 2 Design and Build

The Lava Agni 2 5G screams out a premium design and solid build quality at the first look. The moment I held it in my hands, I was amazed to feel such a quality phone at this budget. It comes in a single Viridian colour variant which looks gorgeous.

Lava Agni 2 Design

The phone comes with a glass back which feels great in hands and gives it a stunning appearance. The phone is curved not only on the front side but also on the backside which gives it a good grip in my hands.

No doubt it’s a big and bulky phone, weighing about 210 grams but the weight distribution is pretty good. There’s a big circular camera module on the back that houses a quad camera setup.

Lava Agni 2 backside

The right side has the power button along with volume rockers while the left side is totally clean. The bottom side has the type-C port, SIM card slot and loudspeakers.

Lava Agni 2 Camera

Lava Agni 2 features a quad camera setup on the back which takes good photos in proper lighting conditions. It includes a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro sensor and a 2MP portrait lens.

Lava Agni 2 Camera

The main camera takes some pretty good shots on daylight conditions. The pictures I took came out sharp and detailed. The colours looked nice for most of the time however, some shots looked a bit faded and blown out.

Lava Agni 2 Camera samples

The ultra-wide lens was decent and the pictures came out well. While the images were clear at first look, details were missing. The colours, on the other hand, looked nice.

Low-light shots were just okay. There’s a dedicated low-light mode that helps to take better shots at night.

Macro lens is just ok. You can get some acceptable shots only if there’s plenty of light in your surrounding.

The selfie camera was something that could have been better. The selfies looked pretty appealing until you zoom in. That is when you realise that it lacks sharpness and details. My facial hair and eyebrows were softened. Skin tones looked good and were close to natural.

Portrait selfies were decent. The edge detection was a miss. There were times when it blurred my ears, shoulders and other edges.

Lava Agni 2 Battery and Charging

Lava Agni 2 packs a 4700 mAh battery that offers decent battery backup. While it falls a bit short when compared to the competition offering a 5000mAh battery, it still manages to deliver all day battery backup.

Lava Agni 2 Battery

A light user can get about a day and a half of battery life. A heavy user, on the other hand, will need to charge the phone by the evening. One drawback I noticed was that the battery drain during the night was quite substantial.

Lava Agni 2 Charging

Lava Agni 2 comes with 66W fast charging support, which takes almost an hour to fully charge the phone from 0 to 100 per cent. A quick charge of 20 minutes juices the battery to about 40 per cent.

Lava Agni 2 Display

Let’s now talk about the best part of the Lava Agni 2 – its display! Lava Agni 2 5G features a stunning FDH+ 6.78 inches curved AMOLED display. It comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 675 nits.

Lava Agni 2 Display

The brightness level was sufficient for indoor and outdoor use. There was a bit of struggle under direct sunlight. Keeping that aside, the display quality of the Agni 2 is just top-notch. The colours look punchy and vibrant.

Content on the screen appears sharp and crisp. I watched a couple of videos on YouTube and my experience was great. Be it playing games, scrolling through reels or navigating the UI, everything was smooth and seamless, thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate.

Lava Agni 2 Display quality

Curved display enhances the overall feel of using the display and offers a premium display experience. It comes with HDR10+ and Widevine L1 support, hence you can enjoy high quality content on OTT platforms like Prime Videos and Netflix.

Lava Agni 2 Performance and Software

Lava Agni 2 5G is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7050, making it the first smartphone in India to feature this chip. It is coupled with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage that together delivers a solid performance.

Lava Agni 2 Performance

Apps open up quickly, and the switching between them was seamless as well. I did not experience any kind of jitters or lags while navigating through the UI or using any app. Coming over to games, I played a couple of demanding games like Asphalt 9 and CoD Mobile.

Lava Agni 2 Gaming Performance

Both the games ran smoothly on medium to high settings. There were no sort of lags or major frame drops and the gameplay was enjoyable. Moreover, I did not notice any heating issues. This means the chipset is properly optimised.

Lava Agni 2 runs on Android 13 out-of-the-box and comes with a stock-like Android UI. Yes, you guessed it right, there is absolutely no bloatware and third-party apps on the phone. I loved the whole feel of UI and it was pretty simple to use.

Lava Agni 2 Software

Lava has promised 2 years of major OS updates and 3 years of security updates which will take to Android 15. You also get features like Background Stream, which enables you to listen to YouTube videos in the background; something that is a YouTube Premium feature.

Verdict

Lava Agni 2 5G is a great phone for its price that excels in almost every department, be it looks, performance, display or software experience. The phone easily handles day-to-day tasks and even gaming to some extent.

On the other hand, the battery and camera performance could have been better. Nonetheless, it’s a solid option for someone who is looking for a premium experience around 20K.
