Vivo V25 Pro Review

Vivo has recently launched the V25 Pro in the Indian market under the 40K price tag. The phone looks really good and has a premium feel to it.

The brand has also kept the V23 Pro’s standout features, such as the colour-changing design and 3D AMOLED display. On top of that, it packs a powerful processor, a good primary camera, and features 66W fast charging support.

All of this looks good but does it performs good as well? Well, that is what we are going to find out today. I have been using the Vivo V25 Pro for a couple of days, and here’s my review of the phone.

Vivo V25 Pro Design and Build

Let’s start with the highlight of the Vivo V25 Pro, its amazing eye-catching design. I have the Sailing Blue colour variant with me for the review which looks great in hand. The phone is also available in the Pure Black colour option but I like the Blue one more.

At first, it just looks like any other stylish phone, however things take a turn as soon as you bring it out to the sunlight. The colour-changing back panel on the V25 Pro turns darker when exposed to sunlight leaving behind something that looks like a tan effect.

Vivo V25 Pro back panel

Talking about the back, the V25 Pro has a shiny glass back with a matte finish, which keeps fingerprints at bay. You will also see a big camera island on the back housing the three lenses and Vivo branding on the bottom side.

The phone comes with curved edges and offers a sturdy build and grip in the hands. It has a slim form factor with just 8.62mm thickness and feels light in hand weighing 190 grams.

Coming over to ports and buttons, the phone houses a power button and volume rockers on the right side while the left side is clean. The bottom side features a SIM tray card, Type-C port and a loudspeaker.

Vivo V25 Pro Camera

Vivo does a pretty good job when it comes to the camera department and we can see the same here. The Vivo V25 Pro features a triple camera setup on the back. These include a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro lens. You get a 32MP selfie camera on the front.

Vivo V25 Pro Camera

Starting off with the main lens, it’s just really impressive. It takes clear and crisp shots in daylight with plenty of details. The colours look great and the images tend to have a warm tone. The OIS helps to take some amazing shots in low light.

The portrait shots with the main camera were impressive as well. The subject was well separated from the background and the shots had a good amount of detail.

The ultrawide shots are average at best. They don’t stand close to the primary camera but still capture some decent shots. The low light performance of the ultrawide lens is just not good. The images taken in low light were grainy and soft.

The 2MP macro lens is just an unnecessary add-on, I believe. The macro shots looked dull and lacked details, as expected from a low-resolution camera. Now, you can take some passable shots if you have really steady hands.

You also get some camera modes like 64MP mode, Slo-mo, Pro mode, Live Photo, Vlog Movie and more.

Vivo Camera modes

Coming over to the selfies, the 32MP camera does a good job. The selfies I took were sharp and very detailed. The skin tones were close to natural with good dynamic range.

The Vivo V25 Pro can record some excellent 4K videos at 30 or 60fps with its main camera. The video quality comes out to be really detailed and stable, thanks to the OIS again. The front camera can only record up to 1080p videos at 60fps.

Vivo V25 Pro Battery and Charging

The Vivo V25 Pro packs a 4830mAh battery which delivers a good battery backup. Although it seems a little less when compared to the competition however the performance is up to the mark. You can easily get more than a whole day of usage. Light users can even get about 2 days of battery.

Vivo V25 Pro Battery

I got about 7 hours of screen on time, which is pretty good. My usage involved scrolling through Instagram, watching videos on youtube and playing games. But don’t worry about running out of battery because the phone comes with 66W fast charging.

The 66W fast charger takes about an hour to fully charge the phone from 0 to 100 per cent. A 30-minute charge can juice the battery up to 55 per cent. Well yes, it’s not the blazing fast speed as 120W or 80W, which we have seen in this price range but it still does a good job.

Vivo V25 Pro Display

The Vivo V25 Pro features a 6.5-inch 3D curved AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution. My favourite thing about the panel is that it is a 120Hz display with HDR10+ certification. On top of that, it has a 300Hz sampling rate and a peak brightness of 1300 nits. Thanks to this, the display is easy to use and read texts even under direct sunlight.

Vivo V25 Pro Display

Scrolling through my Instagram was a joy. It’s one of the smoothest experiences I have had. The display quality is top-notch and the colours on the screen look vibrant and punchy. Moreover, you can adjust the colour temperature and colour mode in the display settings to suit your eyes.

Be it watching videos on YouTube or playing games, the display offered an amazing and immersive experience. You can also watch HDR content on Netflix and trust me, the colours on the screen looked stunning.

Vivo V25 Pro Display quality

Overall, the display on the V25 Pro is an absolute beast for multimedia consumption and doesn’t disappoint in any way.

Vivo V25 Pro Performance

The Vivo V25 Pro features a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset which is paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage. On top of this, you can also add virtual RAM up to 8GB using internal storage.

Vivo V25 Pro RAM expansion

The phone glides through everyday tasks easily. I did not face any lags or shutters while using the phone. Apps opened up quickly and multitasking was also a breeze.

Coming over to benchmarks, the phone scored 551 in single-core performance and 1943 in multi-core performance in Geekbench 5. Whereas the phone scored 676120 in AnTuTu benchmark. These numbers hold up well in this price segment.

Gaming on the V25 Pro was also an enjoyable experience. I ran a couple of graphic demanding games including Call of Duty Mobile, Apex Legends, and Asphalt 9. All the games ran well in high settings.

I played Call of Duty Mobile on High graphic settings with Very High frame rates. The gameplay was flawless with no noticeable lags. Asphalt 9 also ran smoothly in High visual quality without any lags and frame drops.

The phone gets a little warm on the backside after long gaming sessions which is normal. The device also has a game space feature, which enhances the overall gaming experience. It includes useful features such as a voice changer, screen recording, and performance modes.

Vivo V25 Pro Software and UI

The Vivo V25 Pro runs on Funtouch OS 12 which is based on Android 12. It offers tons of customisation options and features. The UI is pretty smooth and I didn’t notice any lags or app crashes.

Vivo V25 Pro Software

You can play around with animations, text sizes, app icon sizes, and much more. There are plenty of options to fiddle with in always-on display settings, from changing clock styles and colours to backgrounds and more.

You also get to see the standard privacy features that come along with Android 12. However, the sad part is that the UI is loaded with bloatware. You get to see a bunch of third-party apps like Dailyhunt, Moj, Josh, Byjus, Linkedin and some more.

Vivo V25 Pro bloatware

Thankful, all of these can be uninstalled to get a clean experience. There are still some apps like the Browser app which cannot be uninstalled. What you get is bombarded with redundant notifications until you manually turn it off.

Vivo V25 Pro Audio, Connectivity, Biometrics

Vivo V25 Pro comes with a single bottom-firing speaker setup which is a tab disappointing to see at this price point. Although the speaker quality is good and the gets pretty loud, it still falls behind a stereo speaker.

Vivo V25 Pro Audio

Coming to connectivity, the V25 Pro features 5G connectivity with 8 5G bands. These include: n1, n3, n5, n8, n40, n41, n77, and n78. Other connectivity options are Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6 and GPS. You don’t get to see support for NFC on this phone.

The phone comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and is pretty reliable. It quickly unlocks the phone with good success rate.

Verdict

The all-new Vivo V25 Pro is no doubt a good mid-range phone. Its unique design, amazing display, powerful performance and potent primary camera make it a good all-rounder. On top of that, you get 66W fast charging support which is really nice to have.

However, there is still some room for improvement. The selfie camera could have been better. Also, though the performance is more than enough for casual use and moderate gaming, it falls short if you are a heavy user and gaming enthusiast.

I would have appreciated if there were stereo speakers, but it’s not a deal breaker. All in all, Vivo V25 Pro is out there for those who prefer stylish design and good cameras.
