With key specs discussed, let’s jump right into the review of the all-new Samsung Galaxy F41.

    Design and Build

Samsung Galaxy F41 takes on the design of the popular M-series and most of the Samsung devices share the same design DNA. The phone is available in three distinct colour variants which include Fusion Black, Fusion Green, and Fusion Blue.

Samsung Galaxy F41 weighs just 190 grams and sports a plastic back and a plastic frame with a glass on top. The back panel is glossy and looks pretty lustrous. You take a rather different-looking rear-mounted fingerprint scanner at the center of the first half and a triple camera setup is housed in a rectangular L-shaped camera bump that raises just a tiny bit above the back panel. There’s a Samsung branding at the bottom and that’s all, there’s no unwanted fizz and frill at the back. Edges are curved and the back panel is slightly curved at all four sides that escalate grip. The glossy plastic back also means it is a fingerprint magnet as well.

At the front, a giant display sits flush. The bezels are a bit thick while the chin is considerably thick as well. A tiny dot notch

At the top, you get a noise-cancelling microphone along with a triple card slot including a Dual SIM slot and a memory card. The power button and the volume rocker sits on the right side well within the position that sits just right. Next up, a 3.55mm headphone jack sits at the bottom along with a bottom-firing loudspeaker and a USB Type-C 2.0 port along with it.

    Display

Samsung Galaxy F41 packs in a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display bearing a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels and a 403 PPI density to go with. The display has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. Galaxy F41 has a display on-point with its mid-range pricing. Given Samsung has an upper hand in terms of displays, F41 is no different.

    galaxy f41 display

The display is both vibrant and punchy given you an unobstructed view as it doesn’t have a deep notch to distract. Videos look exceptionally sharp and crisp on a 2380 x 1080 pixel resolution. The display is lit with 450 nits of brightness which although isn’t good for viewing in bright sunlight, it is more than enough for other lighting conditions. You can go from extremely low brightness to high depending upon the surrounding. You can set the display settings from Standard or Vivid and vice versa that obviously renders slightly different colour tones and temperatures.

Overall, the display was able to pull off a great visual appeal. It has a standard 60Hz refresh rate on-board which again goes in-line with its price tag. Galaxy F41’s display has a zing to it just like any other Samsung phones so you will be surprised to get a quality smartphone at a price tag below Rs.17,000/- even if you max out its trim.

    Performance

About the performance, the Samsung Exynos 9611 octa-core chipset has a max frequency of 2.3GHz. It is paired with Mali-G72MP3 and 6GB RAM with 64/128GB UFS 2.1 storage system. No doubt Exynos 9611 is considerably underpowered than Snapdragon 720 or 730 given the fact that F41’s competitors sport this Qualcomm-made chipset.

Exynos 9611 can handle day-to-day tasks without any glitch. In fact, you can play any high-graphics games like Call of Duty or PUBG (if you have it) on low to medium graphics and frame rates. Yanking up the graphics will obviously cause frame drops at times. In the country, you can play games like Candy Crush Saga, Free Fire, or others without any hassle.

Don’t expect the chipset to be snappy like a flagship processor but at the end of the day, it will take most of the heat without breaking a sweat. Also, remember that the chipset is well-optimized with Android 10 so that works in the congregation. Perhaps, Exynos 9611 is not capable of taking head-on combat with Snapdragon 700 series chipsets or even MediaTek’s G-series so beware.

    Software

After quite a lot of time, Samsung launched its overhauled OneUI custom user interface that surpasses the expectations of many. With a plethora of features and a stunning design, Samsung Galaxy F41 arrives with Android 10-based OneUI 2.0 out-of-the-box. As soon as you turn on the phone, you’ll get the notification for OneUI 2.1 which carries a bunch of bug fixes and features on the way.

OneUI 2.1 offers features like Dark Mode, Dual Messenger, Dolby Atmos, Ultra Saving Mode, Always-On Display, and the much-needed Widevine L1 certification for HD streaming on the go. It will soon get OneUI 2.5 and then, OneUI 3.0 based on Android 11 although the latter is still in the beta stage and there’s no ETA for Galaxy F41 Android 11 upgrade as of now.

    Cameras

Samsung Galaxy F41 has a portfolio of four cameras which includes a single front camera and a triple camera setup at the back. The front camera setup has a single 32MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.0, 0.8micron pixel size. On the contrary, the rear setup includes a large-sized 64MP primary sensor (PDAF, 0.8micron pixel size, f/1.8 aperture), an 8MP secondary ultrawide camera (aperture of f/2.2, 123° FoV, 1.12micron pixel size), and a tertiary 5MP depth sensor with an aperture of f/2.4.

It is Samsung that we are talking about and the company is known for its quality camera performance among other verticals. Samsung Galaxy F41 doesn’t fail to impress the masses with its exceptional daylight shots with good colour accuracy attached. The lowlight shots are near decent and not exceptional. The daylight shots have a

We didn’t have any issues with edge detection thanks to its depth sensor with it so expect a great bokeh effect in your photos with colours popping out. The camera app on Samsung Galaxy F41 has plenty of modes to try including hyper-lapse, Live Focus, Pro Mode, Slow Motion, Super Steady, Food Mode, Night Mode that you can enjoy on the way. You can shoot up to 4K videos at 30fps while the 1080p videos at 30fps have gyro-EIS on-board for better stability.

The selfies using the front camera ignite the bokeh effect as well no matter if it’s just you or a group of friends. Although ensure that the lighting conditions are good for good-quality shots. The camera delivers quality photos thanks to the 8MP pixel-binned tech on-board. Apparently, F41 smoothened the skin via its beautification feature which is a little off-putting. Just like the rear camera, the front camera too captures videos at up to 4K resolution.

    Battery

About the battery, Samsung Galaxy F41 packs in a 6000 mAh battery under the hood, and no doubt it is one of the largest. The battery is made for both casual and heavy users and produces an output for more than a day with a 20-30% battery left at your disposal. The phone comes with a 15W fast charging tech which is a bit slow but does get the job done. It takes 3 hours to charge the mammoth but once you fill-up the gas, Galaxy F41 is unstoppable in terms of backup. A higher charging tech would have been better as the competitors offer it.

    Audio, Connectivity, Biometrics

The earpiece has a decently sound speaker but overall, Samsung Galaxy F41 sports a single bottom-firing loudspeaker in a mono setting. It is decent and average in terms of loudness. It is clear and shows quality efficiency. It supports Dolby Atmos once you connect to the headphones which enhances the sound quality to a great extent.

Samsung Galaxy F41 supports the usual Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band (Wi-Fi 5) along with Bluetooth 5.0 LE and A2DP. It also has GPS with BDS, A-GPS, Glonass, and Galileo. The phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack which is great and a USB Type-C 2.0 for charging.

The Samsung Galaxy F41 sports a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner that gives you the ability to unlock the phone in a jiffy. There’s a facial recognition system on-board as well that takes care of security on your device. Apart from that, you get PIN, Password, and Pattern unlocking mechanisms.

    Pros & Cons

    Pros:

    • Gigantic battery at the price
    • sAMOLED screen
    • Dedicated microSD card slot
    • A headphone jack is available

    Cons:

    • Same design as other Samsung phones which are cheaper
    • Massive chin on the bottom of the device
    Verdict

Just like any other smartphone, Samsung Galaxy F41 has both pros and cons with it. The phone has a combination of a large and vibrant display with a powerful battery, a stunning design, and HD support. Along with it, the phone has an ironic slow charging and it is not meant for gaming. This is because the Exynos processor used is overused and technically inferior to its Qualcomm Snapdragon counterpart. The device manages to impress the masses due to its non-Chinese origin as well in case someone isn’t interested in Chinese smartphones.

Overall, the phone does justify the pricing although with some exceptions as mentioned above. But at the end of the day, no matter what phone you buy, there’s always something that is listed in the “Cons” section. If you are looking for a powerful battery, camera, and a great display, Samsung Galaxy F41 is the right choice. If you are inclining towards hardcore gaming and stuff, I don’t think so you will be happy with Exynos 9611 SoC for sure.
