OnePlus has launched its latest flagship smartphone. Following its successful launch in China, we were curious to know when the latest OnePlus flagship would be available in other regions. At last, the OnePlus 10 Pro is now accessible outside of China, and we’ve been testing it out.

With significant improvements over the OnePlus 9 Pro, the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G seems to be an even better flagship. It’s time to see if the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G is everything it claims to be.

OnePlus 10 Pro Design and Build
The OnePlus 10 Pro looks and feels just like the OnePlus 9 Pro. The OnePlus 10 Pro has gone a little heavier, but that’s about it. Gorilla Glass Victus is used on the front of the OnePlus 10 Pro, although it is not clear if the phone uses Victus or Gorilla Glass 5 on the back. In addition, the new camera island is substantially larger than that of the OnePlus 9 Pro. Similarly to the Samsung Galaxy S22, the camera island is now wrapped around one edge of the device, and it stretches slightly more than halfway on the other side. The camera island is further protected by a ceramic coating.
The textured matte surface on the OnePlus 10 Pro back makes it resistant to smudging. The back cover’s frosted glass is still as flawless as ever. The OnePlus 10 Pro has an excellent grip. On paper, the phone weighs in at slightly over 200 grammes, but it actually feels less in the hand. It’s a compliment to the designers that they were able to keep the device from feeling heavy at any point during the review.

Coming to the front, the OnePlus 10 Pro has a slim bottom bezel, with the selfie camera located on the top left side of the display. The front camera positioning is identical to that of the OnePlus 9 Pro. The curved edges and slightly curved display make for a comfortable grip. We don’t know how it would fare if splashed or submerged in water because there is no official IP rating.
Other than that, the design is nearly the same, with the usual slider and power button on the right, followed by the volume buttons on the left. The bottom of the phone has a USB Type-C port. It comes in Emerald Green and Volcanic Black colour options, with the Hasselblad branding vertically positioned along the side of the cameras on the OnePlus 10.
OnePlus 10 Pro Display
The OnePlus 9 Pro’s display was great, but the OnePlus 10 Pro’s is even better. It’s a big 6.7 inches AMOLED display with a QHD resolution. The OnePlus 10 Pro also employs second-generation LTPO technology, which enables the panel to intelligently change its refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz based on the content on the screen. There are two resolution options: FHD+ and QHD+, the latter of which uses more battery.
The OnePlus 10 Pro’s display has a maximum brightness of 1300 nits, making it easy to use in bright sunlight. It has HDR10+ support with Dual Color Calibration at 500 and 100nits, an industry-first feature.
While the phone’s screen is still curved on the sides, it makes for an eye-catching design but is not suitable for one-handed use.

The phone also offers a Vivid, Natural, and Pro mode that can be enabled based on personal preferences. The phone also has an always-on display that shows the time and notifications, but it drains the battery a little faster.
The colours are vibrant, while the text is clear and easy to read. It’s an excellent display for binge-watching TV shows or watching YouTube videos. When it comes to display quality, the OnePlus 10 Pro does not disappoint.
OnePlus 10 Pro Performance
For years, OnePlus’s flagships have been powered by the best processors in the market. The OnePlus 10 Pro is also equipped with the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU, which continues the tradition of the company. It’s also worth mentioning that the processor is paired with either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage.
According to OnePlus, the cooling system on the 10 Pro 5G is the most advanced ever, and it will be capable of keeping the chip cool during stress.

The OnePlus 10 Pro 5G never skipped a beat when it came to simple tasks and everyday apps. If you need to multitask, play games or do anything else, it can do it all. I noticed that the device gets a little warm while gaming, but it’s not much that makes the phone uncomfortably hot to hold.
I did play a few heavy titles on the phone, like Genshin Impact, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Battlegrounds Mobile India. It should come as no surprise that all of the games ran at their maximum graphics settings. OnePlus appears to have made a number of changes to ensure that gaming performance is tuned for smooth frame rates, as well as minimizing the latency when you tap the display and an action taking place.
Additionally, the Hyper Boost mode enhances your gaming experience and is a welcome feature for all the gamers out there. The OnePlus 10 Pro did not disappoint in terms of overall performance; rather, it’s among the flagship smartphones in 2022.
OnePlus 10 Pro Software
The OnePlus 10 Pro 5G runs Android 12 based on OxygenOS 12.1 rather than ColorOS. In terms of design, OxygenOS retains a lot of the stock Android look and feel. There are a bunch of minor improvements, like the OnePlus Shelf, Work-Life Balance 2.0, and improved Dark Mode, among others.
Organize your Widgets by dragging and dropping them on a shelf from the right side of the screen. In addition, there is a new Work-Life Balance mode and a one-handed drag-down option. It’s possible to choose between two different notification profiles in the Work-Life Balance 2.0: Work and Life. Users will be able to control app notifications in this way, reducing distractions.
The OnePlus 10 Pro has three distinct dark modes: gentle, medium, and enhanced. With this launcher, you may change the grid size, transition animation, and other elements, such as whether or not to have an app drawer.

Even though OxygenOS has adopted several of ColorOS’s features and design aspects, ColorOS remains the leading force in this device. Additionally, OnePlus is providing three years of OS updates and four years of security patches for the 10 Pro.
OnePlus 10 Pro Cameras
The OnePlus 10 Pro has a triple camera layout, including the 48-megapixel Sony IMX789 sensor, which we saw on the OnePlus 9 Pro. It is accompanied by a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture and an insane 150-degree field of view, as well as an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture, OIS, and 3.3x optical zoom.
The most significant change this year is the ultra-wide sensor, which is the Samsung JN1 50-megapixel sensor, which replaces the Sony IMX766. On the front, there’s a 32-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture. Not to be missed, the 10 Pro includes a second-generation Hasselblad camera.
The OnePlus 10 Pro’s primary camera does a fantastic job of capturing natural light in any situation. In daylight, the camera captures images with excellent sharpness, detail, and dynamic range. When capturing close-ups of objects, the bigger sensor allows for a more natural blur of the background. The images taken by the OnePlus 10 Pro have more natural-looking colours.
Moving forward with the ultra-wide lens, it performed admirably in daylight, maintaining high colour accuracy and dynamic range while keeping up with the primary camera. The ultrawide also does a fantastic job with HDR and dynamic range. You can get some amazing shots with the 150-degree field of vision that comes with this lens. The 10 Pro’s ultrawide camera can also be used as a decent macro sensor.

There are no noticeable differences in colour accuracy between the main and ultrawide cameras, although the telephoto lens has a hard time capturing fine detail and natural-looking colours. Its biggest flaw is that it lacks the dynamic range of the other two cameras. High-light areas are often overexposed as a result.
The low-light images from the main camera look good, but when you zoom in, you can see a lot of noise in the edges and even the lack of details. The ultrawide camera is also capable of taking good night photographs; however, the one drawback to using the Nightscape mode seems to be that images can appear over-processed and overexposed sometimes.
Selfies look their best when taken outside in the daylight. The skin tone and colour accuracy are excellent. The portrait mode also performed admirably, delivering clear subject and background separation. Even in low light, the camera’s selfies were impressive, and a Night mode is available as well. In comparison to the 16MP camera on the OnePlus 9 Pro, the 32MP camera on the OnePlus 9 is an excellent improvement.
The main camera can record video in up to 8K at 24 fps. The telephoto lens can only capture in 1080p, while the ultra-wide lens can record in 4k at 30 fps. The 8K videos taken with the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G looked pretty good, had good colours, and were even stable. There is good stabilisation in the recorded videos thanks to OIS support on both the primary and telephoto cameras. Videos recorded at night are also good. The front camera only shoots in 1080p at 30 fps, which is a letdown.
OnePlus 10 Pro Battery
The OnePlus 10 Pro has a 5000mAh battery, which is the same size as Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and can easily last a full day. Notably, it boasts a larger battery than the OnePlus 9 Pro’s (4500mAh) battery capacity.

While the battery life is impressive, the 80W SuperVOOC charging and 50W wireless fast charging features are what really set this device apart. Thankfully, the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G includes the 80W charger in the box, but you’ll need to purchase the 50W wireless adapter from OnePlus separately.
The big 5,000 mAh battery can be fully recharged in just around 35 minutes using the adapter that came with it. A 20-minute fast charge recharges the battery by around 60 per cent. In addition, the OnePlus 10 Pro also supports reverse wireless charging and has added a slew of battery-saving features to the Settings menu.
OnePlus 10 Pro Audio, Connectivity, Biometrics
When it comes to audio, the 10 Pro has dual stereo speakers featuring Dolby Atmos. One speaker is integrated into the display on top, and the other is on the bottom panel, as usual. I used them with several genres like watching videos on YouTube, playing games and listening to music and they sounded amazing. If you want a better audio experience, you’re better off using headphones or Bluetooth speakers instead of the built-in speakers.
This device does support 5G connectivity. OnePlus has added nine 5G bands (n1, n3, n5, n8, n40, n41, n78, n79, and n28A) that will be capable of using the 5G network when it launches in India. The 10 Pro 5G features NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, and Wi-Fi 6 as other connectivity options.

OnePlus 10 Pro comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is quick and never gave me any issues unlocking the phone. While face recognition performed well in well-lit environments, I faced issues on rare occasions when there was low light.
The OnePlus 10 Pro competes against a slew of flagship devices in India, with a starting price tag of Rs 66,999. It has a bigger battery, faster charging, and a somewhat more power-efficient AMOLED display than the OnePlus 9 Pro 5G. It also has a more powerful SoC, more 5G bands, a better front camera, and a more attractive design. Not only this but, the OnePlus 10 Pro’s new features come at a very close price to the OnePlus 9 Pro.
Talking about the camera performance, the OnePlus is still lagging behind Samsung and Apple, and that appears to be the primary factor holding it back. To summarise, the OnePlus 10 Pro offers a lot. However, the lack of an IP rating is a little disappointing. It’s a feature that’s always a plus.
Except for these minor drawbacks, the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G is a superb flagship that offers excellent performance and features at its price.
