Lava Blaze 2 Design and Build

Lava Blaze 2 looks like a quite premium phone when you take a quick look at it, especially the Orange colour variant I have. The phone is also available in blue colour, but the orange colour looks way more tacky and attractive.

    Lava Blaze 2 Design

The phone is made from plastic, as expected from a phone under 9k. However, it features a glass back with a glossy finish which looks and feels very similar to a premium phone. The frame also comes with a glossy metallic-look finish.

You will notice two big lenses on the back with a LED flash beside them. The bottom of the back panel has a subtle Lava branding. It’s quite a big phone, weighing about 203 grams, and you can feel that by holding it in your hands.

    Lava Blaze 2 Build

Coming over to ports and buttons, the right side has the power button which doubles as the fingerprint sensor, along with volume buttons. The left side has the SIM card slot. The bottom side holds the 3.5mm audio jack, type-C port and loudspeaker.

    Lava Blaze 2 Camera

Lava Blaze 2 features a dual camera setup at the back which takes decent photos for the price. It includes a 13MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The front side has an 8MP camera for taking selfies.

    Lava Blaze 2 Camera

The main camera takes decent shots considering the price tag, under proper lighting conditions. The images had acceptable detailing and the colours looked natural. Not the best camera phone under 10K but it does the job.

Portrait shots were fine. Edge detection was mostly done well but the image was taken under proper sunlight. Things get worse when the light drops. Low-light shots were straight-up bad. There’s a dedicated night mode which brightens up the scene but the image was still soft and packed with noise.

The 8MP front camera takes nice shots in daylight conditions. While the details are lacking, the overall selfies look fine. But the quality drops as the light drops.

Lava Blaze 2 Battery and Charging

Lava Blaze 2 packs a big 5000 mAh battery which offers a decent battery backup. A light user can easily use the phone for about a day and a half. Heavy users will need to charge the phone by the evening.

Lava Blaze 2 Battery and Charging

I got about 6 hours of screen on time. There are standard power-saving modes which can further extant the battery life.

The phone comes with 18W fast charging support. While it’s not really fast, we can’t expect much from a budget phone. The 18W fast charger takes almost two hours to fully charge the phone from 0 to 100 per cent.

    Lava Blaze 2 Display

Lava Blaze 2 features an HD+ 6.5 inches IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. It has a refresh rate of 90Hz and average brightness levels. I faced no issues while using the phone indoors however, there was a bit of a struggle under direct sunlight.

Talking about display quality, the IPS panel delivers vibrant and punchy colours with decent viewing angles. But since it’s only an HD display, the sharpness is not that good. I watched a couple of videos on YouTube and my viewing experience was okay-ish.

    Lava Blaze 2 Display quality

Seeing a punch-hole cutout at this price looks really good. Although the bezels are substantial, they can be overlooked, considering the price tag. Overall, it’s a decent display for the price, but there are better options available at the same price.

Lava Blaze 2 Performance and Software

Lava Blaze 2 is powered by the Unisoc T616 chipset, which is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You also get a RAM expansion feature that can add up to another 5GB of RAM using internal storage.

    Lava Blaze 2 Performance

The processor is good enough for handling day-to-day tasks. Apps like Instagram and WhatsApp work flawlessly. However, heavier apps like Snapchat takes some time to open and lags while navigating.

As it’s a budget phone, you can’t really play graphic intensive games on it. But it’s still good enough for casual gaming. You can play gamers like Ashaplt 9 and Free Fire. I played Asphalt 9 for about half an hour and the gameplay was quite smooth at default settings. However, the phone got really warm around the camera side.

Lava Blaze 2 runs on Android 12 with a very stock-android UI. There was literally no sort of bloatware on the device. While it’s a bit letdown not to see the latest Android 13 on the phone, the bloat-free UI really enhances the user experience.

    Lava Blaze 2 Software

There are features like Smart Motion where you can use motion like picking, flipping or shaking the phone to control specific apps. Overall, the UI is pretty basic and simple to use but not really smooth.

    Verdict

Lava Blaze 2 is a good option for someone who prefers design and looks over everything. You get a decent performance from the phone, and it can handle day to tasks with ease. The 90Hz display delivers a nice viewing experience.

While the cameras aren’t the strong points of the phone, the battery backup will surely leave you impressed. Moreover, the stock-looking UI feels way better than any custom ROM that comes along in phones under 10K.
