  • Review Summary

With the launch of the ZenBook 14 Flip in India, Asus has expanded its ZenBook family of laptops. The product is the first 14-inch 2.8K OLED HDR display convertible laptop, according to the manufacturer. The laptop is equipped with the latest AMD Ryzen 9 processor and a 360° ErgoLift hinge.

At first glance, the Asus Zenbook 14 Flip appears to be a little 14-inch laptop. However, it is a convertible device that can be turned into a tablet by folding the display back. That suggests it has a touchscreen as well. However, there is more. The Asus Pen Stylus is compatible with this laptop. It also comes with the Asus Numberpad 2.0, a trackpad that converts to a number pad with a single touch.

    PROS

    • Consistent performance
    • Comfortable keyboard
    • No heat or fan noise
    • Decent port selection

    CONS

    • Speakers produce hollow sound
    • Mediocre webcam

Asus Zenbook Flip 14 Review: Price in India and Availability

The ZenBook 14 Flip is a fantastic laptop on paper. I’m examining the Asus Zenbook Flip 14 review with a top-of-the-line AMD Ryzen 9 processor, 16GB of RAM, a 14-inch OLED display, and Windows 11 pre-installed. This one will set you back Rs 1,34,990 which is a reasonable price for a Windows laptop.

Customers can select from three storage options, and the RAM arrangement on the new ZenBook Flip versions is the same. In India, the Asus Zenbook 14 Flip starts at Rs 91,990 for the AMD Ryzen 5 processor + 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD model. The medium model, Asus Zenbook 14 Flip costs Rs 1,12,990, while the next model costs Rs 1,34,990 and comes with a Ryzen 7 processor, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD.

At this price point, Apple’s M1-powered MacBooks are a viable option, and Asus Zenbook 14 Flip faces a tough road ahead.

Asus Zenbook Flip 14 Review: Design and Build

Asus Zenbook Flip 14 Review: Design and Build

The top cover of the ZenBook Flip 14 is composed of aluminium, and the base panel is made of magnesium alloy. The result is a solid, smooth laptop body that’s comfortable to hold and attractive to look at. The laptop looks sleek and professional in its only Light Grey colourway but is not terribly intriguing. Dark chrome finishes the back edge and hinges, which I think will be a hit or miss with today’s users. However, the signature ‘Zen-inspired’ spun-metal finish on the top cover is missing. It also lacks the new offset Asus logo. But that’s comprehensible because it’s well-constructed, and that’s what matters.

The ZenBook Flip 14 has a glossy touchscreen panel with somewhat thick black bezels on all four sides when the lid is opened with two hands. With the 4.37-millimetre ‘NanoEdge’ bezels, Asus claims to have achieved a 90% screen-to-body ratio. The laptop is on the heavier side at 1.6kgs. When the gadget is utilised as a tablet, this becomes clear. On the plus side, it has a lighter feel in the hands. I truly wish Asus had added a storage pocket for the accompanying stylus and made the ZenBook Flip 14 a more appealing package for heavy tablet users.

Asus Zenbook Flip 14 Review: Display

The Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is distinguished by its stunning 14-inch touch-enabled OLED screen with 2.8K (2880 x 1800 pixels) quality and a rich viewing experience. I say stunning because the colours from the desktop burst at you from the time you open the clamshell, but in a delicate way. The display features impressive blacks and vivid colours throughout.

In the Asus Zenbook 14 Flip review, display performance is excellent for gaming, editing, reading, and watching content. This will appeal to individuals who wish to use their laptops for streaming content and photo and video editing.

The advanced display settings allow users to adjust the refresh rate to 90Hz. Although the viewing/scrolling experience is not as fluid as the 120Hz or 144Hz refresh rate screens, you will not be disappointed.

If I had to pick a flaw, I would say that an anti-fingerprint screen would have sufficed. To be honest, many touch-enabled laptop screens don’t come with this coating, so Amazon Basic’s Microfiber Cleaning Cloth could be a good option.

    Verdict

It’s a substantial sum of money. The Zenbook 14 Flip is not inexpensive, with a starting price of ₹1,34,990. It’s a high-end Windows convertible with an OLED screen, a powerful processor, and numerous I/O connections. The Asus ZenBook Flip 14 works well as a traditional laptop, thanks to its current AMD processor, 8GB of RAM, and enough solid-state storage. It features a great keyboard and touchpad, as well as a bright screen, but it flops miserably as a tablet. It has a heavy frame and a frustratingly limited battery life. Furthermore, its stylus and onboard storage space should be improved.

The ZenBook Flip 14 is a good choice for customers who desire a traditional laptop but also wish to dabble with convertible computing. The ZenBook 14, on the other hand, is better for consumers who are confident they don’t want a hybrid device. But don’t get me wrong. The Zenbook 14 is a fantastic combination of work and play, and I’ve had a lovely week with it. The display alone makes the laptop worthwhile to acquire. The Zenbook 14 Flip is not designed for business users or gamers but is suitable for everyone else. It’s just a question of whether you believe in the 2-in-1 concept.
