I have been using the Google Pixel 8 Pro for a long-term review over the last 20 days. There is no doubt that it has an excellent design, long-lasting battery life and offers robust performance. But, as you know, Google has already launched the Google Pixel 9 series, and the Google Pixel 10 series is about to launch in India.

This phone features a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2400 nits. It also features a Google Tensor G3 (4 nm) chipset and runs on Android 14, but it can be updated to Android 15. Moreover, it has a 50MP triple rear camera and a 10.5MP front camera. This phone features a 5,050mAh battery capacity, supporting both 30W wired and 23W wireless charging in terms of battery

In 2025, many of us will still be looking to buy the Google Pixel 8 Pro, so I’m here with a long-term review. In this review, I’ll cover everything about this phone, including whether you should buy it or not.

Google Pixel 8 Pro Design and Build

The Google Pixel 8 Pro retains the clean and minimalist design for which Google is known. After 20 days of use, it still feels premium and is a pleasure to hold. The Pixel 8 Pro’s matte glass back and aluminium frame offer a soft-touch, silky finish that is both gentle and firm.

    Google Pixel 8 Pro design

So, I suggest everyone use it with a protective cover. Unlike many other flagship phones with glossy backs, this one does not collect fingerprints. I’ve been using the Porcelain colour variant, and it hasn’t picked up any signs of wear and tear, such as scratches or smudges.

    right side

The soft-touch finish feels great, but what I love most is the curved corner finish. Despite the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra’s curved design, it remains less bulky. It still looks sleek, weighing 213 grams and measuring 8.8mm in thickness.

    design

While the rear camera visor design is unique to Pixel phones, in this model, the bar is more streamlined and less obtrusive. The metal bar that holds the three sensors together doesn’t wobble much when set on a table, and it is very stable.

It’s also IP68-rated, so I had no issues using it around pools or during light showers. This phone also comes with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both sides; it withstood a few accidental drops. Overall, the Pixel 8 Pro’s long-term review is good in terms of design, considering it was released in 2025.

    Google Pixel 8 Pro Camera

Every new Pixel brings with it a set of expectations, especially in terms of camera features and Photographic prowess. The Google Pixel 8 Pro has done nothing to degrade that reputation and remains a perfect choice in 2025.

    Google Pixel 8 Pro camera

It features a triple rear camera, comprising a 50MP primary camera, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. I took photos during multiple scenarios, including daylight, low light, and even dim artificial light, which is splendidly consistent.

The tones are as natural as can be. Skin tones, the vivid blue skies and the greens of the trees are devoid of any heavy editing.

As you can see, my images of green plants and even flowers look very natural. The portrait mode is one of my favourites.

It achieves a gentle blur in the background while defining edges sharply. The backlit images are difficult to click, but Pixel manages to achieve balanced exposure effortlessly thanks to HDR+-powered Google algorithms.

This phone also offers good shots in low light. Night Sight is a marvel. The sharpness of Night Sight’s transparent textures and rich, saturated shadows, paired with minimal grain, is divine.

When I compared it to my friend’s Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max and my own Apple iPhone 15, I was surprised to find that the indoor photos taken by the Pixel 8 Pro were significantly better and noticeably less noisy.

There is a 10.5MP front camera. Although the megapixels on offer may not seem high, they do produce naturally appealing selfies. However, low light does spoil the party a bit, as the skin looks way too soft.

I recorded several videos to check the video quality. The 4K video from both front and back cameras is super stable. Additionally, the built-in Audio Magic Eraser effectively cleans up background noise, which is especially helpful when recording in crowded areas.

Google Pixel 8 Pro Battery and Charging

Google Pixel 8 Pro houses a 5050mAh battery. On light to moderate use, it comfortably lasts over a full day. While I watched YouTube, played games and camera stuff, etc. Then I also got seven to eight hours of battery life.

    Google Pixel 8 Pro battery

If you’re a heavy user, its battery life can be reduced even further. For charging, it supports 30W wired and 23W wireless. While this isn’t the fastest in the flagship space, I was fine with the 70-minute full charge time.

What I liked is that the battery doesn’t degrade quickly. Even in 2025, I’m getting nearly the same battery life as day one. Additionally, Google’s Adaptive Charging technology slows down battery ageing by learning your usage schedule.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro features reverse wireless charging, which I’ve used a few times to charge my earbuds. In terms of battery performance, the Google Pixel 8 Pro long-term review indicates that it performs comparably to other models. This trend is primarily due to brands focusing on launching devices with larger batteries. By 2025, we can expect most new phones to have a battery capacity of over 7,000mAh.

    Google Pixel 8 Pro Display

The Google Pixel 8 Pro features a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with a QHD+ resolution of 1344 x 2992 pixels. The refresh rate also ranges from 1Hz to 120Hz. The transitions and fluidity on this screen are something I really enjoy.

    Google Pixel 8 Pro display

For Netflix and YouTube, it supports HDR10+ and even ultra 10-bit HDR, which provides over-the-top vividness. I watched dark-themed series like “Asur”, and the deep blacks and the contrast were astonishing.

The display peaks at 2400 nits, which eliminates any visibility issues, especially in direct sunlight. While on a road trip, I navigated using my phone to steer clear of getting lost, and the screen was bright and clear, even in direct sunlight.

The display is flat, which makes using the gesture controls easy since the edges of the phone are curved. Google has worked on the Always-On display, and now, for AOD, the brightness automatically adapts to the surrounding light, saving battery while still maintaining visibility.

For long reading sessions at night, I found it helpful to reduce strain on my eyes. There is also a feature for adjusting the display temperature, which I found useful. In my long-term review, the Google Pixel 8 Pro’s display is superior to that of the newly launched phones in 2025.

    Google Pixel 8 Pro Performance

The Google Pixel 8 Pro runs on Google’s in-house Tensor G3 chip, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. I think this is a low point, considering UFS 3.1 type storage comes with such a price tag. While daily tasks like multitasking, social media, and video calls are smooth, it’s not a phone made for heavy gaming.

I played a lot of BGMI on this phone. Just after 2-3 games, the phone gets warmed up, and everyone can feel it. I also ran 3DMark Stress during the test, and I even felt more heat during runtime. While overall, its performance is excellent, there is no lag issue. Therefore, this phone is one of the top contenders in 2025.

Google Pixel 8 Pro benchmark result

I did several Benchmark tests on the Google Pixel 8 Pro to check its accurate performance in different aspects. Its Geekbench CPU scores are 1642 in single-core and 3909 in multi-core. The maximum in the CPU throttling test is 69 per cent. Moreover, its Antutu score is 712507. The 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme Stress Test for stability has an overall score of 77.9 per cent.

Google Pixel 8 Pro Software and UI

The Google Pixel 8 Pro runs Android 14, while I updated to Android 15 during my long-term review. Google also promises seven years of OS and security updates, which is the best in the industry right now. That alone makes it the most future-proof Android device.

    Google Pixel 8 Pro software

The UI is extremely clean, with no bloatware and no spam notifications. The material you design still feels refreshing, especially how it automatically matches the theme with your wallpaper.

    UI

The animations are fluid, the icons are neatly arranged, and you get features like At a Glance, Smart Suggestions, and more.

    Google Pixel 8 Pro UI

I also liked the new AI features, such as Magic Editor in Photos and Summarise in Chrome. Over time, I’ve noticed fewer app crashes and more stability in updates. Additionally, features like Call Screen, Now Playing (for music recognition), and Pixel Recorder with AI summaries are things I genuinely use daily.

    Verdict

Google Pixel 8 Pro continues to deliver an excellent Android experience. In terms of the rear camera, it also performed well in every condition. Design and display also perform well in their segment. While it’s not made for gaming enthusiasts and fast-charging fans. If you want a clean Android flagship that ages well and makes your daily life smarter, the Pixel 8 Pro is one of the most reliable options out there in 2025.

There are several other options available at this price that you can consider before making a purchase: iQOO 13OnePlus 12,Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus, and Apple iPhone 16e. I also reviewed the OnePlus 12 and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus, which you can look for a detailed review.
