Dizo Watch 2 Review
Review Summary

Dizo, Realme’s sub-brand, has been very productive since its establishment, releasing a slew of new audio and fitness products. The company has recently launched Dizo Watch 2 as a budget fitness watch. It has an appealing design and a sturdy build quality.

The company wants to go above and beyond by also providing continuous heart rate monitoring and an oximeter packed in a metal frame that is resistant to water up to 50 metres. On top of this, the company claims that the watch offers 10 days of battery life.

Does it mean that Dizo Watch 2 is a good investment? We will try to answer that and more of your questions in this Dizo Watch 2 review.

Design and Build

The Dizo Watch 2 looks similar to any other low-priced fitness watch thanks to its conventional rectangular dial, but it has one key distinction. The frame of this watch is made of zinc alloy, unlike those of most watches which are made of plastic, lending it an additional degree of sturdiness. The watch appears to be of higher quality in construction and finishing than it actually is.

DIZO Watch 2 design

It’s available in five different colours: pink, white, grey, blue, and black. We have the Classic Black colour variant with us for the review. This colour option has a sleek matte finish, while the others have a glossy one that attracts fingerprints easily.

The silicone straps are soft and comfortable against the skin, and they don’t irritate even after a full day of wear. The straps are 22mm in width, so you can swap them out with any other 22mm strap from a third party.

There is a single button on the right side of the device; pressing it toggles the screen on and off and returns you to the Home screen while navigating through the UI. The charging ports and sensors (SpO2 and heart rate) are located in the back.

The watch weighs 52.5 grams with straps, but it doesn’t feel too heavy on the hands. The weight of this smartwatch is about average; it’s not the lightest on the market but not the heaviest either.

DIZO Watch 2 water resistant

This watch is 5ATM water-resistant, meaning it can withstand immersion in water up to 50 meters deep. And of course, you can take it along for a swim.

Battery and Charging

The Dizo Watch 2 packs a 260mAh battery which according to the company can deliver 10 days of battery life on a single charge. The claims by the company sound really good on paper but does it live up to the expectations?

I got around 9 days of battery life with medium brightness and continuous heart rate monitoring turned off. Note that notifications were still on during the review period. It’s not exactly what the company claims but quite close to that. Even a heavy user can expect around a week of battery life.

Overall, the battery performance was really impressive for the price. Now coming to charging, the magnetic charger takes around 1.5 hours to fully charge the watch from 0 to 100 per cent.

Display

The Dizo Watch 2 sports a 1.69-inch LCD touchscreen display, which is a little bigger than the Realme Watch 2 (1.4 inches). It has a TFT-LCD display that delivers surprisingly good contrast, colours, and sharpness considering the price point. Additionally, the bezels around the display are consistently thin and sleek.

The screen is scratch-resistant thanks to the 2.5D glass that seamlessly integrates with the casing. It has five brightness settings, and while level 3 is plenty bright indoors or in the shade, you’ll want to increase it to level 4 or 5 when you are outside in the sun.

You can always wake the screen by raising your wrist or pushing the physical button on the watch.

DIZO Watch 2 watch faces

The Dizo Watch 2 allegedly comes with more than 100 different digital and analogue watch faces. One thing that bothered me was that only one watch face can be saved on the watch. Each time you wish to change the watch face, you’ll have to do so from the app.

Fitness and Health Features

The Dizo Watch 2 has tons of fitness modes to record your workout sessions. As it does not have its own in-built GPS, the information it provides may be slightly off track. It does not even feature A-GPS, which stands for assisted GPS, and it is unable to use the GPS functionality of the paired smartphone.

The watch offers 15 different fitness tracking modes which include indoor run, outdoor run, outdoor cycle, outdoor walk, strength training, basketball, cricket, football, jump rope, rowing machine, badminton, free training, yoga, elliptical, mountaineering, and lastly swimming.

DIZO Watch 2 sports modes

This watch does a good job of tracking my runs and walks, especially considering it doesn’t have GPS. The companion app provides additional information about your workouts.

The watch comes equipped with a PPG heart-rate sensor which can continuously track your heart rate every 10 minutes. You can choose to enable ‘All-day Monitoring’ or disable it on the companion app.

The Dizo Watch 2, like many modern fitness trackers, has a pulse oximetry (SpO2) sensor, but its readings are inaccurate. Anyways we wouldn’t recommend a fitness tracker in place of a traditional pulse oximeter.

The watch can also monitor your sleep patterns, and it does its job very well. While it accurately records how long you slept in total, it provides no breakdown of REM sleep and instead only measures how much time you spend in deep sleep, light sleep, and awake.

Software and UI

Dizo no longer works with the Realme Link app and has instead developed its own companion app, simply called the Dizo App. Once you’ve unboxed the Dizo Watch 2, head over to the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store to download the Dizo app, then scan the QR code to begin pairing. The user interface of the watch is very straightforward and easy to use.

DIZO app

The user interface is responsive and smooth. There are minimal animation effects to avoid any lags. Like most budget-friendly watches, you cannot install additional apps on the watch.

It has all the standard features such as music controls, camera shutter, and call alerts in addition to fitness tracking. The display of the watch is big enough to read notifications from your smartphone, but it doesn’t allow you to reply to them.

You can also ignore or hang up on incoming calls, but you won’t be able to answer them. You also get the option to set reminders to move around if it detects inactivity and drink water every hour. It includes tools like a timer, breathing trainer, stopwatch, weather forecast, and a ‘Find my Phone’ feature.

DIZO Watch 2 features

Verdict

The DIZO Watch 2 is an affordable smartwatch that manages to impress me with features like its long-lasting battery and crisp 2.5D display on a durable metal body. There are times when you can buy it for as little as Rs. 1,999 in online sales, which is the same price as its introductory price when it was first released.

Although it lacks some features like built-in GPS, it is priced well enough to compete with fitness bands. You get a larger screen and longer battery life at such a low price, making it a perfect replacement for fitness bands.

The Dizo Watch 2 is an excellent choice for first-time fitness tracker buyers since it provides all the basic features like heart rate monitoring, SpO2, and good battery life at a reasonable price.
