Infinix Zero 5G 2023 Design and Build
Infinix Zero 5G 2023 looks fantastic at first glance. Especially the orange colour variant I have will catch your eye from far. It is also available in two other colour options – black and white. But I feel that the orange colour really stands out.
It features a vegan leather back which feels premium in hand. The textured finish helps to keep the fingerprints and scratches away. The frame is made of plastic but it offers a firm grip. I did not feel like I am holding an under 20K phone. It surely feels like an upper-midrange phone.

The camera unit at the back protrudes a bit and merges with the back panel smoothly. You will notice a subtle ZERO 5G branding on the bottom left. Overall, the Infinix Zero 5G 2023 boasts a good looking design and solid build quality.
The right side has the power button which doubles as the fingerprint scanner and volume rockers. The left side has a SIM card slot. The bottom side has the 3.5mm audio jack, primary speaker, Type-C port and mic.
Infinix Zero 5G 2023 Camera
Infinix Zero 5G 2023 features a triple camera setup on the back. This includes a 50MP main camera, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The front side has a 16MP selfie shooter housed inside the punch hole cutout.
Talking about the camera quality, the main camera takes pretty good shots in daylight conditions. The images I took were detailed and crisp. The colours looked good and accurate. Dynamic range was also wide.
The portrait shots were good and the edge detection was done well. Low-light shots were also decent. The noise was kept in control and the images turned out well.

Macro shots were average at best. You need to have really steady hands to take some decent macro shots.
Coming over to the front, the 16MP camera takes sharp selfies in good lighting conditions. While the selfies were detailed, the skin tones did not look very natural. The colours looked a bit faded and washed out.
The phone can record up to 4K videos at 30fps using the main camera and 1080p videos at 30fps using the front camera. The details were missing from the footage and the colours did not look very natural. Also, it came out to be shaky. Overall, there’s a lot of work needed to be done in the camera department by Infinix.
Infinix Zero 5G 2023 Battery and Charging
Infinix Zero 5G 2023 packs a beefy 5000mAh battery which delivers a pretty good battery backup. A casual user can get two days of battery life from it while a heavy user might need to charge the phone by the evening.
I got a little more than 6 hours of screen on time which is good for this battery capacity. However, the battery backup will depend on how you use the phone.

The Infinix Zero 5G 2023 is paired with 33W fast charging support and the adapter is given in the box. The 33W fast charger takes about an hour and ten minutes to fully charge the phone. Yes, it’s not very fast like some competitors but it’s good enough for casual users. There’s no wireless charging support.
Infinix Zero 5G 2023 Display
Infinix Zero 5G 2023 features an FHD+ 6.78 inches IPS LCD display. It has a fast 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 500 nits. The display gets bright enough for indoor use however it was not very clear under direct sunlight.
If we talk about the display quality, the IPS display offers good and punchy colours. The viewing angles are good too. Even though it’s not as good as an AMOLED panel, it’s good enough for gaming and content consumption.

The fast 120Hz refresh rate makes the scrolling and navigation experience pretty smooth. The panel supports Widevine L1 so you can watch high-quality content on OTT platforms. The bezels are thin on all sides except the chin which is a bit thicker.
Infinix Zero 5G 2023 Performance and Software
Infinix Zero 5G 2023 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset which is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone runs everyday tasks easily. The apps open up quickly and switching between them was smooth.
I did some Instagram scrolling, texting on WhatsApp and watched videos on YouTube and there were no lags. The 120Hz refresh rate really helps to offer a seamless experience.
I pushed the phone further and played CoD, Asphalt 9 and BGMI on it. All the games ran well on medium to high settings. However, there were some lags and frame drops while playing CoD. And hence I lowered the graphic settings to get a smoother gameplay.

The Infinix Zero 5G runs on XOS V12 skin which is based on Android 12. It’s a little disappointing to see a phone still launching with Android 12 in 2023. Nonetheless, the UI offers a bunch of features and customisation options.
At the same time, the UI is filled with bloatware which you can uninstall from settings. Inifnix promises two years of major updates.
The Infinix Zero 5G 2023 is definitely a great smartphone under 20K, as you can tell by reading this review. The back panel and looks of the phone punch above its price tag. It delivers great performance, solid battery backup and decent camera performance.
Moreover, the big high refresh rate display is great for playing games and content consumption. 33W fast charging isn’t really the fastest but it’s good enough for casual users. Yes the UI could have been better and the lack of an ultra-wide lens feels like a drawback.
However, other than that, the Infinix Zero 5G 2023 is no doubt a solid option for anyone who is looking for a good looking and high performance 5G phone under 20K.
