Infinix Note 12i Design and Build

The Infinix Note 12i 2022 looks way better than any other 10K phone in the market. The phone has a plastic build but still feels good and sturdy in the hands. It has a polycarbonate back panel which has a glittery matte finish and a glossy finish on the top side.

That area with a glossy finish also houses the camera unit which protrudes and makes the phone wobble when kept on a flat surface. The edges are flat with rounders corners however it does not seamlessly merge with the back panel and the front.

Other than that, the phone gives a very mid-range look and vibe. Moreover, it is quite light in hands, weighing just about 188 grams. Right side of the phone has a power button which doubles as the fingerprint scanner along with volume buttons.

The left side has a SIM card slot while the top is clean. Lastly, the bottom side houses the type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack and loudspeaker.

Infinix Note 12i Camera

Infinix Note 12i has a triple camera setup on the back which includes a 50MP primary lens. The other two lenses are a 2MP depth lens and a QVGA AI lens. Front side has an 8MP camera for taking selfies. Now it’s a budget phone and we shall not expect much in the camera department.

But we do get a 50MP main camera. So, how well does it perform? The main camera takes nice shots in proper lighting conditions. The images I took looked vibrant with good detailing. Low-light shots lacked in details and has too much noise.

I also took a portrait shot and you can see that the edge detection was really well. The subject is well in focus and the background blur is pretty good. The details and colour accuracy remain the same.

Coming to the front, the 8MP lens took some impressive selfies in daylight. Selfies looked sharp and the skin tones seemed natural to me. Portrait selfies were also good. However, the edge detection was not as good as the main camera. Low light selfies were bad straight up.

More or less, the Infinix Note 12i took some really good shots for its price tag.

Infinix Note 12i Battery and Charging

Infinix Note 12i is backed by a big 5000mAh battery which is paired with a 33W fast charger. The phone offers solid battery life which easily lasts two full days with casual use. I did some scrolling on Instagram, watched a couple of videos on YouTube and played games.

Infinix Note 12i Battery

I got more than six hours of screen on time which is fantastic. Coming over to charging, the 33W fast charger takes about an hour and a half to fully charge the phone. Infinix has done a great job in giving good fast charging support and providing the charger in the box.

Yes, it still takes time to charge the phone but I am pretty happy to get all this under 10K.

Infinix Note 12i Display

Infinix Note 12i features an FHD+ 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a standard refresh rate of 60Hz. It is very rare to see an AMOLED panel under 10K and Infinix is among those rare phones.

Moving on, the display has a peak brightness of 1000 nits. It gets plenty bright under direct sunlight and I did not face any issues while using the phone. The touch response and fluidity might feel a bit slow if you have used a 90Hz panel. But if you haven’t, it works well.

Coming over to the highlight – the AMOLED panel. I watched some videos on YouTube to analyse the quality and let me tell you that it’s pretty good. The colours look vibrant and punchy. The blacks were deep and the viewing angles were great. The water drop notch looks a bit dated but apart from that everything looks great.

The only con I see here is the 60Hz refresh rate. It would have been great if Infinix could offer a 90Hz AMOLED panel under 10K. But no worries…maybe soon?

Infinix Note 12i Performance

Infinix Note 12i is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset which is paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It comes with the MemFusion feature that lets you expand the RAM by an extra 3GB using internal storage, so you get 7GB of RAM in total. Not really very effective, but a plus point.

Infinix Note 12i Performance

The phone runs pretty smoothly during day to day activities. However, I noticed some shutters and lags while using Instagram and Snapchat. You can play light games on it like Asphalt Nitro and Free Fire without any issues.

But I won’t recommend you to try any graphic intensive games on here. Just for the sake of testing, I played Asphalt 9 on it. The gameplay was smooth most of the time. I noticed occasional frame drops and shutters. I also tried Asphalt Nitro, which ran smoothly.

Infinix Note 12i Gaming performance

The Infinix Note 12i runs on XOS V12 which is based on Android 12. The UI feels a bit cluttered and loaded with bloatware. At the same time, you get some good features like multi-window support, a smart panel for quick access and Xclone feature that lets you duplicate some apps.

Verdict

Infinix Note 12i is a solid budget smartphone to get your hands on under 10K. It has a beautiful design and good build quality. The Helio G85 performs nicely for everyday use and the 50MP main camera takes good photos in daylight conditions.

You get a fantastic AMOLED panel and dual speakers for great multimedia use. On top of all that, the phone offers a solid battery life and 33W fast charging. What more could you ask for under 10K? Maybe 5G?

All in all, Infinix Note 12i gets a big recommendation from me for being a budget all-rounder under 10K.
