WhatsApp has finally received a native dark mode, which was a heavily anticipated feature. It had been leaked for a while. Traces began showing up within the app’s interface and code months ago. It is now finally available to users. WhatsApp’s native dark mode is just called Dark within the theme selection interface, and it imparts a dark green profile to the messaging app’s entire UI with some contrasting colours here and there. The home screen and settings menu are now dark in colour. In the conversation windows, only the chat bubbles are dark while the background is white or whatever colour users have set as background.

But before we plow ahead on how to activate this feature, it must be noted that dark mode is currently available only to the beta testers. We don’t know when it’ll be rolled out to stable users, but it shouldn’t be too long.
For beta testers, Dark mode in WhatsApp has already begun rolling out through Google Play. It comes with the new v2.20.13 update. If you’re not in the beta programme, you can register by going to the Play Store’s WhatsApp page and selecting the option. How to enable Dark Mode in WhatsApp?
Enabling dark mode or dark theme in WhatsApp is extremely simple. Follow the steps mentioned below to quickly activate the new look. Aside from being easier on the eyes in low-light environments, it’ll also assist you in saving battery on OLED phones.
- Download the newest WhatsApp beta update and open the app.
- Once you open the app, tap on the three-dot menu icon and choose Settings from the menu.
- When you’re on the Settings page, tap on Chats, then tap on Theme. Doing so will open a window where you select the theme.
- Tap on Dark within the window that appears. Now the dark mode interface will be visible across the app.
