About the Mobile Phone

Pros

  • It features a brilliant 6.2 inch IPS LCD screen.
  • It comes with a powerful processor.
  • It has the latest and refined One UI.

  • The camera performance is average.

If you are looking for a reliable performer with good battery life, Galaxy A10 is a good choice. The tall screen delivers a wonderful viewing experience and the processor does a great job in balancing the performance and battery life.

The Galaxy A10 sports a 6.2-inch HD+ Infinity V display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. It is powered by an Exynos 7884 processor paired with 2GB RAM. While the onboard storage is 32GB, you can expand it up to 512GB using a microSD card.

The phone runs on Android v9.0 (Pie) OS with Samsung’s custom One UI skin on top. As for the battery capacity, the phone comes with a 3400 mAh battery. On the rear, it features a 13MP camera, and on the front, there’s a 5MP selfie cam.

At just 7.9mm, the Galaxy A10 is quite slim and weighs only 168g. It is available in three color variants – Blue, Black, and Red. In India, the starting price of the Galaxy A10 is Rs.  7,990.

When it comes to design, there’s nothing new here. On the front, you will see a tiny notch that houses the selfie cam and apart from the narrow chin at the bottom, the phone is basically bezel-less. The rear panel is a polycarbonate one, and unlike the other mid-range phones by Samsung that feature a glossy back panel, this one has a more matte finish effect.

On the top left corner, in the back, lies the vertically aligned 13MP camera with an LED flash. The volume rockers and power button rest on the right side of the frame whereas the dual-SIM tray and the dedicated microSD card slot lie on the left side. The bottom part of the phone houses a 3.5mm audio jack, a MicroUSB port, a loudspeaker grill, and a microphone.

The display is one of the best aspects of the Galaxy A10. Although it does not have a Super AMOLED display like the other two A-series models, the 6.2-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen doesn’t disappoint. The Infinity-V notch not only looks good but is also not intrusive. The display has a 19:9 aspect ratio and 271 PPI density.

The display offers good viewing angles, with the colours popping beautifully. Outdoor visibility is great as well. Given the price, the display is impressive.

As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy A10 uses an octa-core (1.6 GHz, dual-core + 1.35 GHz, hexa-core) Exynos 7884 processor along with a Mali-G71 GPU for enhanced graphical performance.

While the phone can very well handle everyday tasks like calling, texting, video streaming, social media, and so on, even multitasking and navigating between apps is great. The phone hardly shows any signs of lagging. However, when it comes to heavyweight gaming (PUBG, Asphalt), you might notice a slightly sluggish performance.

It features the new OneUI based on Android v9.0 (Pie). The latest OneUI is loaded with useful features including gesture navigation, dark mode, battery optimization, and also improved icon designs, among other things. The gaming issue aside, Galaxy A10 is overall a decent performer.

Unlike Samsung’s latest launches, the Galaxy A10 does not have a dual-camera. It features a single 13MP snapper (f/1.9 aperture) on the back which comes with LED flash. The camera app comes with a lot of options like Live Focus, HDR imaging, ISO control, Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, Touch to focus, Continuous Shooting, and Exposure compensation.

Images captured through the rear cam in the daylight come out looking good with a fair share of details. Thanks to the low-light photography mode, the camera can capture decent images in low-light settings as well.

As for the 5MP front cam, it also comes with an LED flash for brighter selfies. Even the selfie camera is a success when it comes to daylight shots. In dimly-lit conditions, the LED flash compensates and helps to capture good selfies. Although, when you zoom in, you might notice some noise, but that’s okay.

The Galaxy A10 uses a 3400 mAh battery that promises to pull through an entire day (on a single charge) effortlessly for normal-to-medium usage (involving light gaming, calling, messaging, etc). However, if you use the phone for prolonged hours of gaming or browsing or video streaming, the battery will drop faster than usual.

To sum up, Samsung Galaxy A10 packs in a lot of useful specs as an entry-level phone. With an excellent display, lightweight and handy design, a powerful processor, and a reliable battery backup, the Galaxy A10 makes for a wonderful daily driver. But, if you are into gaming, you might want to stay away from it.
