POCO X4 Pro 5G Design and Build
Poco X4 Pro 5G looks and feels like a high-end premium smartphone at a fraction of the price. The design is quite similar to that of the Redmi Note 11 Pro. The rectangular camera module, which takes up a significant portion of the top of the device, is the most significant distinction. The phone is available in three different colours: black, blue, and yellow. We have the black colour variant with us for review.
The back of the X4 Pro is made of glass. I’m happy Poco went with a glossy finish on the back rather than the matte texture design that we’ve seen on so many phones lately. The frame is constructed of plastic. The phone is dust and splash resistant, as per IP53 certification.
The Poco X4 Pro features an 8.12mm thickness, making it the thinnest phone in the company’s Poco X-series lineup so far. The Poco X4 Pro weighs 205 grams, which places it among the heavier smartphones on the market.

The weight is evenly distributed, so it doesn’t feel heavy when it’s used for everyday tasks. As a whole, the Poco X4 Pro 5G is a very good phone. You’ll fall in love with the Poco X4 Pro’s design within a few days.
On the right side of the phone, there is a volume rocker and a power button that doubles as the fingerprint scanner. The 3.5mm audio jack and IR blaster are located on the top, while the USB-C port, primary mic, and SIM card slot are located on the bottom.
POCO X4 Pro 5G Camera
The Poco X4 Pro 5G uses a typical triple-camera layout with a 64 MP Samsung ISOCELL GW3 primary sensor as the highlight of the setup. It includes an 8 MP ultrawide lens and a 2 MP macro lens in addition to the primary camera. On the front, you’ll find a 16 MP camera for taking selfies. The Poco X4 Pro that was launched in India is missing one important feature: the 108 MP primary sensor that was present on the global variant.
Nonetheless, The 64 MP primary sensor is capable of capturing high-quality images with excellent dynamic range and focus. Most of our daylight photos retain their original colour accuracy and fine details. The phone could autofocus swiftly even in close-up images. Pictures taken with the 64MP camera mode deliver impressive results.
The photos taken with the ultrawide camera were not as detailed as those taken with the primary camera. The photos were also noticeably softer, with a smattering of noise. The images also lacked sharpness.
The 2MP macro sensor is unquestionably the worst camera on the X4 Pro’s camera system, and because of its low quality, you will most likely not be able to use the majority of the photos you capture for social media purposes.

While the Poco X4 Pro 5G lacks a dedicated depth sensor, it takes excellent portrait shots. When using portrait mode, the camera was able to clearly distinguish between the foreground and background thanks to the perfect edge detection and blur. The Poco X4 Pro 5G does have a Night Mode, which adds additional light to a scene while also enhancing the detail in brighter spots.
The 16-megapixel selfie camera takes good photos in the daytime. However, low-light selfie quality suffers a bit. Aside from that, there is support for portrait photography, which is average at best.
The lack of 4K video recording on the Poco X4 Pro was a major disappointment. The device is capable of recording videos in resolutions up to 1080p at 30fps.
POCO X4 Pro 5G Battery and Charging
POCO X4 Pro 5G has a big 5000mAh battery that can last all day. The phone comes with a 67W fast charger in the box. As expected, the battery life is very impressive.
After a full day of using the phone, I still had 25 per cent of the battery left over for the next day. With this phone, you can expect to get between five to six hours of screen time. The Ultra battery saver feature on the phone is really useful, as it nearly doubles the battery performance of the phone.
You can, of course, run out of battery faster if you use the 1,200-nit brightness with a 120Hz refresh rate while playing games like BGMI. But for most people, this is worry-free battery life all day long.

It takes about 45 minutes to fully charge the battery from 0 to 100 per cent on the Poco X4 Pro, thanks to its support for 67W Mi Fast Charging. In about 30 minutes, the battery charges from 0% to 75%, which is surprisingly quick for a mid-range budget phone. However, there is no support for wireless charging.
POCO X4 Pro 5G Display
On the front, you’ll find a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. The POCO X4 Pro 5G has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 360Hz, which makes the overall experience pretty snappy. It also supports DCI-P3 and has a maximum brightness of 1200 nits. There is an option in the Settings menu that lets you change the refresh rate from 60Hz to 120Hz at any time.
The display is bright and produces a wide range of vibrant colours. Due to the excellent viewing angles, watching movies or playing games on the phone is a fantastic experience. The hole-punch camera sits at the top of the display and is one of the tiniest hole-punch selfie cameras I’ve ever seen.

The phone’s large display makes it excellent for watching videos and playing games. The screen is bright enough for outdoor use. The X4 Pro 5G features Widevine L1 certification, allowing it to stream video on high-quality across all OTT platforms, including Netflix.
The display produces sharp texts and crisp images. For the price, the Poco X4 Pro’s display is excellent. The only obvious giveaway is the somewhat bigger bezels compared to flagship devices, which are especially noticeable on the forehead and chin of the device.
POCO X4 Pro 5G Performance
The Poco X4 Pro 5G is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 soc, which is a performance hit compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 SoC seen in the Poco X3 Pro. This does not imply that the new Qualcomm 695 chip used in the Poco X4 Pro is any less capable than the 860 chip. The phone is available in two different LPDDR4X RAM configurations: 6GB or 8GB. There are two storage options: 64GB and 128GB.
The X4 Pro 5G performs well for most of the day. The UI is easy to use and the phone handles everyday tasks with ease. Poco X4 Pro 5G offers excellent performance, with snappy scrolling and switching between apps, as well as relatively quick picture processing skills.
It’s worth noting that the Poco takes use of Xiaomi’s Dynamic RAM Expansion technology, which uses storage space as additional RAM when necessary, increasing the RAM capacity to 8GB and 11GB, respectively, as needed.

In terms of gaming, I pushed the Poco X4 Pro with a handful of the popular titles available. BGMI, Asphalt 9 and Call of Duty: Mobile all ran without a hitch at high settings. BGMI defaulted to HD graphics settings and can only go up to 45fps at balanced graphics.
Additionally, there is a Gaming Turbo tool that can help you get the most out of your gaming sessions. Performance on the X4 Pro 5G isn’t an issue, and the temperature was also kept under control with the help of liquid cooling.
POCO X4 Pro 5G Software and UI
The Poco X4 Pro 5G runs Android 11 under the hood, with Xiaomi’s MIUI 13 on top. When multitasking, the smartphone performs flawlessly, and we didn’t notice any lag when carrying out our daily tasks.
Compared to MIUI 12, MIUI 13 has a lot of performance improvements. The MIUI 13 provides users with a considerable number of customization options, allowing them to change elements such as app icons, the theme, fonts, and so on. Bloatware has always been an issue with MIUI, and I noticed a lot of it in the user interface.
In spite of the fact that the phone has an Always-on display, it can’t be always on. It can only display for 10 seconds after a tap. The Digital Wellbeing tools are part of the UI and provide an insight of how much time was spent with the phone with the screen on and which apps were being used.

We probably won’t see the Poco X4 Pro 5G advance past Android 13 if it receives the two major Android updates that most smartphones in this segment do, which is a bit disappointing.
POCO X4 Pro 5G Audio, Connectivity, Biometrics
When it comes to audio, the phone features impressive stereo speakers which get pretty loud for gaming and watching videos. If you enjoy listening to music on your smartphone, the Poco X4 Pro is a great choice.
The Poco X4 Pro 5G is equipped with Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and, of course, 5G support, among other features. It supports a total of 7 5G bands.

The fingerprint scanner on the side of the device can be used to unlock the screen. The scanner is simple to use, really fast, and pretty accurate.
The Poco X4 Pro 5G has a nice combination of performance, display, and battery life. The Poco X4 5G is a good option for those searching for a budget-friendly all-arounder smartphone with these features.
As an added treat, you’ll receive a 67W fast charger inside the box. Potential power users who were looking forward to this phone because of its gaming capabilities like the previous generations of POCO phones could be a little disappointed.
Nonetheless, the device is very appealing, takes excellent images in any lighting situation, and gives a fantastic visual experience. The icing on the cake is the price tag. Poco has set a reasonable price for the phone.
The X4 Pro 5G is a solid choice for those in the market who are looking for a versatile smartphone at an affordable price.
