POCO M6 Pro 5G Design and Build
POCO M6 Pro 5G features a really simple yet elegant look. It comes with a flat glass back panel, unlike many other devices in this price range that offer plastic back. A big thumbs up for this. I have the black colour variant, which looks really nice but attracts fingerprints.
There’s a dual camera setup on the top with a subtle POCO branding on the left side. Don’t get mistaken with the third camera module, it’s LED flash.

Although the black is made of glass, the phone has plastic frames that are flat. It gives a bit of an iPhone vibe. It offers a firm grip in hands. Even though it’s a big phone, it weighs under 200 grams which makes it suitable for long term usage.
Talking about ports and buttons, the right side has the power button which doubles as the fingerprint sensor along with volume rockers. The left side has the SIM card slot while the top has the 3.5mm audio jack and IR blaster. The bottom side holds the Type-C port, loudspeaker and mic.
POCO M6 Pro 5G Camera
POCO M6 Pro 5G features a 50MP dual camera setup on the back which captures decent photos in proper lighting conditions. The other lens includes a 2MP depth lens. The front side has an 8MP camera for taking selfies and doing video calls.
The main 50MP lens offers a balanced combination of high-resolution shots and depth sensing. This allows for sharp, detailed images with a pleasing bokeh effect in portrait shots. The main camera performs admirably in various lighting conditions, capturing vibrant colours and maintaining good dynamic range.

The low-light shots were decent for the price with the night mode enabled. While the details and sharpness were lacking, the overall image turned out just fine.
The 8MP front camera is capable of taking good selfies in good lighting conditions. The colours looked nice and the details were well maintained. The skin tones also looked close to natural.
POCO M6 Pro 5G Battery and Charging
POCO M6 Pro 5G packs a big 5000 mAh battery which delivers a solid battery backup. A heavy user can expect a full day of battery backup from it. I got about 6 hours of screen on time which is pretty nice. A light user, on the other hand, can easily get 2 days of battery life.
You also standard battery saving mode which further extends the battery life. Talking about charging, it comes with a 22.5W adaptor in the box. However, the phone only supports 18W fast charging.
The 18W fast charging takes about 2 hours to fully charge the phone which is not so fast but acceptable for the price.
POCO M6 Pro 5G Display
POCO M6 Pro 5G features a big FHD+ 6.79-inch IPS LCD display that delivers a good viewing experience. It comes with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 550 nits. The screen is bright enough for indoor use however, it’s not very much usable under sunlight.
The 90Hz makes the whole user experience pretty fluent and smooth. I scrolled Instagram and played games for hours and I could see the benefit of a high refresh rate. Moreover, the display quality is nice and good enough for everyday content consumption.

I watched a couple of videos on YouTube and my experience was good. The thin bezels around the display (except for the chin) help in enhancing the viewing experience.
There’s a punch-hole cut out on the top which is rare to see at this price. Normally you see a water drop notch at this budget but kudos to POCO for opting for the punch-hole design.
POCO M6 Pro 5G Performance
POCO M6 Pro 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset which is a very new budget 5G chipset introduced. It is coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You also get a memory expansion feature that adds another 6GB of RAM to make up a total of 12GB RAM (on 6GB variant).
While it’s not very impactful or practical in everyday life, it’s still a good feature to have. Coming over to performance, the phone handles day to day tasks with ease. I did some Instagram scrolling, texting, taking pictures, playing games and more things and it handled it all with no issues.

But since it’s a POCO device, I had to test out some games on it. It’s a budget phone and expecting it to run high-end games is not a wise thing. However, I still tried playing Asphalt 9 on it. The game ran smoothly for most of the time with casual frame drops.
POCO M6 Pro 5G Software and UI
POCO M6 Pro 5G runs on MIUI 14 skin which is based on Android 13. As with every phone running on MIUI, the M6 Pro 5G also offers a bunch of customisation options. You get multiple wallpapers to choose from, have different themes and can even change fonts.
Other than that, you get features like Screen recorder, One-handed mode, Floating windows, Memory extension and more.
At the same time, it’s loaded with bloatware including Amazon, GetApss, Moj, PhonePe, Spotify, LinkedIn and many more. Good thing is that you can uninstall them from the settings.

The POCO M6 Pro 5G offers an impressive package with its blend of performance and features at an affordable price point. Its capable processor, 5G connectivity, and substantial battery life make for smooth day-to-day usage.
While its camera performance could have been better, it’s good enough for the asking price. Overall, the POCO M6 Pro 5G is a solid choice for budget-conscious consumers seeking a balanced smartphone experience with future-ready connectivity.
