OPPO Reno 14 Design and Build

After using it for four months, I can say this phone gives me a close feeling to a compact phone. Actually, the OPPO Reno 14 phone falls into the mid-range category. It’s back, finishing with a floral texture, and it’s robbed my attention from everything.

    OPPO Reno 14 design

It took time to get back on track and focus on everything, haha. Almost one and a half years ago, I reviewed the OPPO Reno 12, which had a reddish-white colour mix with a cloudy texture. At that time, I was recommending everyone due to its design. Now, at this moment, I am also amazed by its back finish in white, where the textures change their colour reflections at different angles.

    camera module

OPPO Reno 14 also has a 7.3 mm thickness, which is appreciable given that it maintains this thickness despite a 6,000mAh battery. It also fits in a single hand without slips.

    side

Moreover, OPPO copied the camera module from the Apple iPhone 16 Pro. The camera module doesn’t protrude much from the body, giving the phone a cleaner, more balanced look.

    top

This phone has an aluminium alloy frame with a clean finish. Buttons are hard to press and can be soft. Talking about ports, its right side contains a power button and a volume button. The top of the phone features an IR blaster, a secondary camera, and a microphone. At the same time, a Type-C port, a sound strip, a SIM tray, and a microphone are located at the bottom.

    bottom

One of the best things you get is IP68/IP69 dust-tight and water-resistant. So, it can withstand high-pressure water jets and is immersible up to two meters for 30 minutes. During my OPPO Reno 14 review, I also tried to immerse the phone in water for a few minutes, and nothing happened at all.

    OPPO Reno 14 Camera

Moving on to the camera section, during the OPPO Reno 14 review, I clicked a lot of images. Let’s talk about its sensors first. It comes with a 50MP wide, 50MP telephoto, and 8MP ultrawide sensor in the rear camera.

    OPPO Reno 14 camera samples

Its 50 MP wide sensor of Sony IMX882 is excellent. It captures detailed images with good dynamic range. Colours tend to be mildly saturated, and sharpening is apparent but controlled. Moreover, it offers suitable HDR in backlit scenes. So, I can say the primary camera is reliable for everyday use.

    camera sample

Furthermore, its Night modes and the “Ultra-Clear Low-Light Camera System” claimed by OPPO improve exposure and reduce noise. I would say it is strong for a mid-range phone, though not flagship-class. I’m saying this because noise reduction sometimes softens fine detail.

    camera sample

Its portrait mode also offers good subject separation and skin-tone rendering. You can see my images and skin tone in the image sample. The phone relies on a mix of depth and AI, along with lens characteristics. But at the same time, edges were over-processed in some scenarios, but pleasing for social sharing.

    camera sample

Moving on to 50 MP Telephoto 3.5× optical zoom and extended digital reach. It delivers accurate telephoto framing with minimal detail loss, a significant advantage over many mid-range lenses that rely on cropping.

    camera sample

OPPO applies processing to extend the reach to 120x zoom, but image quality beyond 10 to 15× becomes brittle and noisy. I even managed to capture images of the Moon. So, it’s fine for social snapshots but not for best shots.

    camera sample

Its elephoto low-light performance is acceptable in well-lit night scenes but drops faster than the primary sensor. In contrast, 8 MP Ultra-wide offers good coverage and usable detail for social and landscape shots, but edges show distortion and slight softness compared to the main sensor. I would say this is normal for an 8MP UW.

    camera sample

Moving on to the front camera, it offers a 50MP selfie camera. It’s normal, the portrait worked fine, and there is no extra saturation or over-processed images. At the same time, you can record 4K videos at 30/60fps with the front and rear cameras.

    Front camera sample

It also comes with AI photography features like scene detection, auto-composition suggestions, AI zoom/telephoto assist (the phone supports up to 120× digital zoom using AI processing), and AI LivePhoto 2.0.

OPPO Reno 14 Battery and Charging

OPPO Reno 14 is packed with a 6,000mAh battery capacity. So, it offers up to two days of battery life on a single charge. Talking about real-world usage that offers 9 to 10 hours of screen usage. This battery measurement was taken during modest usage.

    OPPO Reno 14 battery

During my OPPO Reno 14 review, I played a lot of BGMI and Real Cricket Game, and I also did a lot of social media scrolling. But if you are watching downloaded movies, it offers better battery life than games or social media.

Moving on to charging, it comes with an 80W SuperVOOC fast charger. So, it has been charged within one hour. Once I majored in exact timing, I got exact 51 minutes to charge this phone from 0 to 100 per cent.

    charger

This phone also has a smart charging feature. It means you can set charging limits from 80 per cent to 95 per cent. I think this is an underrated feature which everyone should use to extend battery health.

    OPPO Reno 14 Display

OPPO Reno 14 offers a 6.59-inch AMOLED display. It also has a display resolution of 1256 x 2760 pixels and a density of 460 PPI. This phone also supports HDR10+ for high-quality videos.

    OPPO Reno 14 display

So, you can consume HDR content on Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and other OTT platforms. During my OPPO Reno 14 review, I watched a few movies like ‘Homebound’ and’ Lootcase, ‘ and the display colours were quite accurate.

    video quality

One of the best things about this display is its ability to maintain deep black colours.

    refresh rate

It also offers 600 nits (typ) and 1200 nits (HBM) peak brightness. So, you can use it in direct sunlight without facing many problems. I used this in direct sunlight multiple times without any issues.

    display quality

OPPO added a 120Hz refresh rate, and you can switch to 60Hz or Auto select, which will switch automatically as needed.

    display quality

OPPO has equipped the Reno 14 with Gorilla Glass 7i, which is a smart move. You’re getting enhanced drop resistance and scratch protection above what many mid-range phones use today.

    OPPO Reno 14 Performance

The OPPO Reno 14 features the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 (4 nm) chipset, offering stable performance in daily use. In benchmark tests, this phone posts substantial numbers: AnTuTu results approximately 1,405,935 (During Testing, AnTuTu app showing error after multiple attempts, so I relied on OPPO claim), and the Wild Life Extreme Stress Test scored 53.1 per cent stability.

    OPPO Reno 14 Benchmark results

Geekbench 6 single/multi scores of roughly 1323–3952, respectively. So, it places it well ahead of many Snapdragon 7 phones, like the OPPO F31 Pro Plus 5G (currently using this phone for review), and into a territory where GPU- and CPU-intensive tasks remain usable.

    RAM

OPPO claim that in real gaming runs like BGMI, Call of Duty and similar titles, you can hit high frame-rate modes and maintain playable performance. Its vapour chamber + graphite also helps keep frame drops reasonable during extended sessions.

    OPPO Reno 14 games

But honestly, during the OPPO Reno 14 review, it can get warm under sustained gaming and heavy multitasking. Its CPU throttling test also shows the reality: only 11 per cent. If you push it for long esports sessions, it won’t replace a purpose-built gaming handset.

Practical efficiency is a sufficient win. Dimensity 8350 is manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process. It offers balanced efficiency and performance, and, alongside the Reno 14’s 6000mAh battery, has excellent real-life battery endurance.

First, while it is proper, software optimisation matters. Low benchmarks do not tell the whole story. OPPO has prioritised thermal equilibrium and software optimisation over absolute benchmark wins. That is the very reason the phone operates seamlessly, even if it is not the highest in its tier.

Second, you will, however, expose the chipset’s limit when performing long, continuous CPU-intensive work, 3D gaming, camera recording, and other high-load activities. It will provide solid mid-range functionality, but it will not deliver a flagship-level performance. So, do not expect absolute performance from OPPO Reno 14.

OPPO Reno 14 Software and UI

UI is one of the most conversational aspects of any phone in recent years. OPPO Reno 14 runs on Colour OS 15 based on Android 15. One of the best features of this phone is the cute cat wallpaper that takes over the system, smoothly changing shape as you unlock your phone.

    Android 15

Its animation opening and closing apps is smooth. Its app widgets are also pleasing and scrolling so fast.

    Colour OS 15

But bloatware spoils your party, you will get a lot of unnecessary apps like Agoda, Aquablocks, Bubble pops, Hot apps, Hot games, etc. I suggest uninstalling unnecessary apps as soon as possible; otherwise, they can slow down your phone after multiple updates.

    Blotware

The OPPO Reno 14 brings a suite of AI-driven features that go beyond simple marketing buzz and actually enhance the everyday experience. It has AI Editor 2.0, which allows features like AI Recompose (adjusting framing after the fact), AI Perfect Shot (fixing expressions in group photos).

    UI

Moreover, AI Studio (style-transfer of visual aesthetics), and other editing capabilities built right into the phone.

    UI

While this phone leverages AI productivity & system tools, such as real-time translation, AI Call Summary, AI VoiceScribe (transcription), AI Mind Space (organising screenshots, notes, dates), and network/connection AI (like AI LinkBoost for smoother data switching), are listed.

    UI

Its AI gaming performance optimisation added AI-based cooling, thermal management, frame-rate stability, and network optimisation for games.

    Verdict

The OPPO Reno 14 review clearly shows that this phone is one of the most balanced mid-rangers of 2025. From its elegant, premium design and sharp AMOLED display to its dependable triple-camera setup and impressive battery life. The Dimensity 8350 chipset ensures smooth everyday performance, though it’s not meant for heavy esports gaming.

AI integration in both camera and system utilities genuinely enhances user experience. While minor heating and pre-installed bloatware hold it back from perfection, the Reno 14 still feels refined, practical, and well-rounded for its price.

If you’re considering alternatives, you can also look at the OnePlus Nord 5, Vivo V60, and Realme 15 Pro, which offer similar pricing and hardware with their own unique advantages.
