Google has announced a new Meet call transcribe tool. Users will be able to utilise this functionality to transcribe the whole meeting audio into text and save it in Google Doc format. The transcribed document file will be saved for users on Google Drive for simple access and end-to-end encryption. The tech giant unveiled the new capability in the recent Cloud Next 2022 report.

Google Meet calls Transcribe Feature: Here’s What To Expect
The Google Meet transcribe tool will be helpful for users who wish to record meetings, save essential notes, or recollect anything from a specific meeting.
On October 24, 2022, the business will begin rolling out the new transcribe capability for Google Meet globally. While the transcribe option appears appealing, it would not be available to everyone. According to Android Central, Google will only make the new function available to desktop and laptop users.
The transcribe capability, in particular, will be enabled by default and “may be customised at the group, domain, or OU level.” Users of Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, and the Teaching and Learning Upgrade can use the feature.
It’s also worth noting that the transcribe option will only operate for English speaking. As a result, if users talk in a language other than English, the function will be unable to transcribe the audio into text. Individuals with personal accounts, students trancribing their online lessons, or users speaking in languages other than English are also barred from using the service.
