Review Summary

We know the quality that Bose offers and the same goes with their latest Bose QuietComfort Earbuds. They are way better than the competition and you can tell that it’s a premium device just by looking at it.

Apart from the looks, you get the best-in-class audio quality and ANC, which can be compared to the Sony WF-1000XM4 (review). The earbuds are very comfortable to wear but are kind of bulky.

The battery life is where it falls short of the competition. But the real question is how well it performs and if it’s worth the premium price tag. Let’s find out in this Bose QuietComfort Earbuds review.

PROS
  • Amazing sound quality
  • Best-in-class ANC
  • Comfortable
  • IPX4 rating
  • wireless charging
CONS
  • Little pricey
  • Average battery life

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Specs at a glance

Before we talk more about the earbuds, let’s see what on-paper specs look like:

  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.1
  • Supported OS: Android and iOS
  • Weight: 8.5 grams (earbuds); 76 grams (case)

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Design and Comfort

The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds are stylish, but they’re also rather large and bulky. They are just huge in every way. Compared to their competitors, the buds appear to be rather big in size. Each earbud is 8.5g in weight, which is bulkier than other earbuds and tends to bulge out of the ears as well.

To ensure the best possible fit, they come with three different pairs of ear tips. It’s easy to find a good fit because the silicone is so soft and squishy that it doesn’t cause any discomfort.

Also, I like how easy it is to change the tips. Changing earbuds is as simple as sliding the old ones off and putting the new ones in. Each Bud has a touch-sensitive outer panel that offers some control over the music as well as incoming calls.

The charging case is also big, but at least it seems sturdy and made to last. Wireless earbuds typically have magnetic lids, but these have a button on the front to open them, which I found unusual.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds case

The amount of remaining battery life is indicated by a row of 5 LEDs that are located on the front side of the case. Inside, you’ll find a button between the two earbuds. Pressing this button will manually activate the pairing mode.

The Bose QC earbuds has an IPX4 rating, which means they can handle sweat and light rain, but nothing more.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Audio Quality

The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds sound great, and those who prefer neutral sound will enjoy listening to music with these earbuds. The sound is well-balanced, with each part of the range being clear and audible.

Although the audio produced by Bose is not as good as the bass produced by Sony, there is a wonderful harmony between the various frequencies here. The Active EQ technology from Bose automatically boosts the bass or treble depending on the volume levels, resulting in music that feels really lively at any volume level.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Audio Quality

Even at a high volume, the vocals remain crisp and clear and there is no tearing. There is no way you will be distracted from your music if you use these ‘Buds,’ thanks to their excellent noise cancelling capabilities.

One notable feature is that they have an adjustable ANC, which is something that even the AirPods Pros do not have. You can select from 10 levels of ANC, with 0 serving as a transparent mode that allows you to hear your surroundings clearly. The noise-cancellation gets better and better as you go up the 10-point scale. I could hardly hear anything from the surrounding when I set the ANC to 10.

The Bose QC ‘Buds’ once again shine when it comes to call quality. There are four built-in microphones in the earbuds, and they all work together to produce crystal-clear audio when you’re talking on the phone.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Battery and Charging

Talking about the battery, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds claim a battery life of six hours from a single charge. The charging case adds for additional 12 hours of playback for a total of 18 hours of battery life.

Keeping the claims aside, I got around 5.5 hours of playback with ANC on. Now I know this is not the best battery backup, but it’s still better than Apple AirPods Pro (4.5 hours) (review). Although the other earbuds in this price range aim to offer more than 24 hours of battery life, Bose has chosen to subtle for less.

The good thing is that you get wireless charging here and a quick 15 min charge can get you around 2 hours of battery life. You can also use the bundled Type-C cable to charge it and it takes around 3 hours to fully charge the case.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Features and Connectivity

The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds use Bluetooth 5.1 technology for connectivity. The earbuds automatically gets into pairing mode when the case is opened for the first time. In order to get the most out of your music, you should install the Bose Music app on your phone.

Bose Music app

The companion app is simple to use, visually appealing, and includes a few features that elevate the listening experience. On the app home screen, you can adjust the volume, control playback, and see how much battery is left in each bud.

The app enables you to quickly swap between different devices, customise the controls, create your own EQ, as well as tweak ANC levels. You can also set three ANC/transparency mode levels and switch among them by double-tapping on the left earbud.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds controls

You can play or pause tracks with a simple double-tap on the right side of the bud, while tap and hold will bring up the voice assistant; Google Assistant or Siri, based on your phone.

You can customise the controls and some features as per your taste through the app. A recent update has added a new feature. Users can now adjust the volume by swiping up or down along the surface of the right earbud.

Bose App features

One disappointing thing was you can only pair the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds to a single device at a time as multipoint technology is missing here.

Verdict

The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds are among the best wireless earbuds in the market when it comes to audio quality and ANC. You will get amazingly balanced sound as well as call quality from these earbuds.

They are the perfect all-rounders you can get in the market. However, their battery life may not be enough for you if you travel/commute a lot.

With all that said, Bose QuietComfort are an amazing pair of wireless earbuds and a great buy if you can shed 27K from your pocket.
