Apple AirPods Pro Design and Comfort
The Apple AirPods Pro have a similar design language to the original AirPods, but new flexible silicone eartips that are engineered to fit firmly inside the ears to offer active noise cancellation technology.
The AirPods Pro case is larger in size than the case for the original AirPods, which means that the earbuds won’t fit as easily in every pocket as they did before. However, the difference is smaller than you might think it would be.
To begin with, I found the earbuds to be extremely lightweight. In fact, they were so light that it’s tough to tell whether they were actually plugged into the ears. The stems on AirPods Pro are much shorter than those on the standard AirPods.

The silicon buds keep them in place, and the earbuds are so well-fitted that they don’t move around even if you’re jogging down the street. Apple provides only three sets of tips, and the medium size eartip should be good for the vast majority of users.
They also have an IPX4 water-resistant rating, which means that you can use them in the gym without worrying about sweating and even in the rain.
Apple AirPods Pro Audio Quality
The first thing I noticed about the Apple AirPods Pro was that they sounded much better than the vanilla AirPods since you get more bass here. The new noise-isolating design, along with the new drivers that were tuned specifically for that design, is the main reason for the deep bass.
Apple claims that AirPods Pro have better sound quality than the ordinary AirPods because of the Adaptive EQ technology. Adaptive EQ adjusts the lower and middle frequencies of music to the shape and size of each person’s ear, making the music more enjoyable. The sound quality is intriguing, immersive, and clear, and I couldn’t find any problems with it.
The Apple AirPods Pro comes with spatial audio feature that was announced in WWDC 2020. Spatial Audio works with Dolby Atmos to give you an immersive and multi-dimensional audio experience. This makes it feel like you are sitting in the centre of a surround sound system.

I was happy with the AirPod Pro’s noise-cancellation capabilities. A lot of background noise, such as the sounds of an air conditioner and nearby traffic, was cut out. I also tried it in open office spaces and other public places like cafes, where people were conversing. I would say they do a good job even though I could still hear their voices,.
The AirPods perform exceptionally well when it comes to taking and making phone calls. Everyone I spoke to was able to hear me clearly and it suppressed the background noise pretty good.
Apple AirPods Pro Battery and Charging
The Apple AirPods Pro have a battery life of up to five hours, similar to that of the AirPods; but this is only the case when the Active Noise Cancellation is off. When used with Active Noise Cancellation on, the AirPods Pro have a playback time of up to four and a half hours and a talk time of around three and a half hours on a single charge.

The Wireless Charging Case provides a listening time of more than 24 hours and a talk time of more than 18 hours. As much as I would love to have more battery life, I don’t have to worry about it because the earbuds charge quickly in their case. You can get an hour of music playback with just 5 minutes of quick charging using the lighting cable or even a Qi wireless charging pad.
There is a USB Type-C to Lightning cable that comes inside the box. However, you will need to have your own adapter if you don’t have a wireless charging pad.
Apple AirPods Pro Features and Connectivity
Apple AirPods Pro have Bluetooth 5.0, and pairing them with your iPhone is as quick and easy as you’d expect. AirPods Pro have no power button; they automatically turn on and off when you remove or put back in their charging case.
The controls for the AirPods Pro are now in the stems, which are now equipped with force sensors. The original AirPods were controlled by tapping the body. There is a “capacitive force sensor” in the stem present on each of the earbuds. Squeezing this area will switch between noise-cancellation / Transparency mode, or it will allow you to skip and play/pause tracks.
There’s an accelerometer present inside the bud and an optical sensor on the surface itself which works together to automatically play/pause the music when you remove the earbuds.

The AirPods Pro also support Audio Sharing, which allows multiple AirPods or Beats earbuds to connect simultaneously to a single iPhone. This lets you and your friend to listen to music and watch movies together.
Additionally, the Apple AirPods Pro have Transparency mode; which uses the microphones to pick up ambient noise and send it directly to your ears. Using it, you can hear what’s happening around you or converse with someone without removing your earbuds.
In addition, there is a feature known as the “Ear Tip Fit Test,” which plays a music sample for five seconds and analyse it to determine if there is any sound leaking. If you get a green ‘Good Seal’ result, you’re good to go. However, if the Pros find an issue, you’ll be asked to try a larger or smaller tip.
There are some additional features for iOS users like the option to rename the earbuds, control the active noise cancellation, and customize tap-and-hold functionality on each earbud.
If you have an iPhone, the Apple AirPods Pro are indeed an excellent option for noise cancelling earbuds. The sound quality is superb, and there are a slew of useful extras to go along with the noise-cancelling feature.
They have a shorter battery life than other noise-cancelling earbuds; but they are much smaller in size when compared to them, so perhaps this is a reasonable trade-off. Although they don’t deliver premium and rich sound quality like a Rs 21K earbud should, the AirPods Pro are still an excellent pair of TWS earbuds.
If you have the money and want only AirPods, or if you have an iPhone, I would highly recommend you the AirPods Pro.
