WhatsApp Allegedly Working On New Features Like Read Later, Mute Video

WhatsApp may bring the option to mute videos before sending them over to somebody. Moreover, this option can also be toggle on and off via a speaker icon. Additionally, you can put this upcoming feature to use when uploading a status update as well. However, this new feature is currently in the initial stages of development for Android users. iPhone users will also get the update later on in the future. iPhone users will be getting a new feature called ‘Read Later’. This new feature is basically an improved version of the archived chats feature.

WABetaInfo has stated that WhatsApp beta for Android carries references of the ability to mute videos before sending them to a contact or setting them as a status update.

Moreover, WABetaInfo has also posted a screenshot suggesting that a speaker icon will be marking the feature. It will be available next to the duration and file size details of the video that users want to share. Users can toggle the feature on and off by tapping on that icon before sharing it via WhatsApp.

The new update is under development and is not even available for beta testing as of now. However, it will most likely arrive for WhatsApp Android users via a future update.

Additionally, WABetaInfo has also revealed that WhatsApp is working on a new ‘Read Later’ feature. This is actually an improved version of the ‘Archived Chats’ feature. Moreover, this new feature is reportedly a part of WhatsApp beta for iPhone.

Moreover, some screenshots suggest that the feature will allow users to archive certain chats and not receive notification for them. Additionally, an edit button will also be provided to unarchive multiple chats at a time. More options to edit archived chats will also pop up.

Another feature known as ‘Vacation Mode’ has been in the rumor spectrum for quite some time now. However, it is still yet to be made available to the public. Laslty, WABetaInfo has also spotted that WhatsApp is renaming their FAQ section to Help Centre. This change was spotted on the WhatsApp beta for Android.

WhatsApp has a lot on its plate right now with so many features reportedly coming via updates. Hopefully, these updates will land soon as they do seem pretty useful.
