Samsung Galaxy F14 Design and Build

Samsung Galaxy F14 has a very simple and decent look. I have the green colour variant with me for the review but it’s also available in purple and black colour options. The phone features a plastic back with two round lenses on the top with a LED flash.

There is no separate camera island, just the lenses pop out a little. Coming over to the front side, the phone has a water-drop notch and thick bezels on the bottom. Well, can’t expect much at this price.

The curved frame is also made of plastic and offers a good grip in hands. The rounded corners tend to bite the palm when held for a longer duration due to the weight.

It’s a big and bulky phone weighing about 205 grams. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not uncomfortable to hold, but you can feel the weight of it due to the massive battery cell inside.

The right side has the power button which doubles as the fingerprint scanner and volume rockers, while the left side has the SIM card slot. The bottom has the 3.5mm audio jack, type-C port, and loudspeaker.

Samsung Galaxy F14 Camera

If we talk about cameras, Samsung has done a good job of providing a good sensor under 15K. Samsung Galaxy F14 features a dual camera setup on the back. This includes a 50MP main camera and a 2MP macro lens. The front side has a 13MP camera for taking selfies.

Samsung Galaxy F14 Camera

The main camera takes some really good shots in bright conditions. I could see the details in the images and the colours looked good as well. Even the 2x photos were quite good. However, the images were on the cooler side and I could feel the lack of saturation in the result.

Nonetheless, the overall quality of the images was pretty nice. Portrait shots were decent. The edge detection was a hit or miss; it blurred my hair and t-shirt edges sometimes. But the background blur was good.

The 2MP macro lens is just for the show, I feel. It captures low-quality shorts which are barely usable. The only time you get some unable images is when there is plenty of light and you fix your phone on something.

The 13MP front camera takes decent selfies. While they were not very detailed, the selfies were sharp and clear. Even the skin tones looked pretty coles to natural.

Samsung Galaxy F14 Battery and Charging

Now let’s talk about one of the biggest reasons to get the Samsung Galaxy F14 – its massive 6000mAh battery. I don’t have to say but it offers a solid battery backup. You can easily get two days of battery backup from it.

Even if you are a heavy user, you will still manage to use it throughout the day and still have some juice left for the next day. But it all can’t go right. So Samsung had to cut corners in charging.

While the phone comes with 25W fast charging support, it misses out on providing an adaptor. You will separately need to buy the 25W adaptor which takes more than 2 hours to fully charge the phone.

Samsung Galaxy F14 Display

Samsung Galaxy F14 features an FHD+ 6.6 inches LCD display. It comes with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a peak brightness of 480 nits. It’s bright enough for indoor use but I faced some issues while using the phone outdoors on a sunny day.

Samsung Galaxy F14 Display

The content on the screen looks crisp and sharp. The colours look vibrant and the viewing angles are great. Although it’s not as good as an AMOLED display, it does the job. Moreover, the display comes with Widevine L1 support but misses out on HDR certification.

F14 Display quality

I wish the bottom bezel was a bit thinner and Samsung would have provided a punch-hole cutout. Keeping that aside, the overall display experience is pretty nice and good enough for everyday use.

The display has a protection of Gorilla Glass 5 which protects it from scratches and accidental drops to some extent.

Samsung Galaxy F14 Performance and Software

Samsung Galaxy F14 performs better than any other smartphone under 15K. It is powered by a Samsung Exynos 1330 chipset which is paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Samsung Galaxy F14 Performance

The phone can easily handle everyday tasks and run multiple apps at once. It even has a RAM Plus feature which can add another 6GB of RAM (on top variant) using internal storage. Apps take a second to open up but that’s fine.

It’s a budget phone but still, you can play heavy games on it. I tried playing Asphat 9 and New State Mobile. Surprisingly, both the games ran well on high settings. New State could run at Ultra graphics and Max frame rates. The gameplay was smooth and the phone didn’t get too warm.

Samsung Galaxy F14 runs on One UI 5.1 skin which is based on Android 13. The phone is packed with features like Secure Folder, Samsung Wallet, Voice Focus and more.

F14 5G features

There are some pre-installed apps like Snapchat, Truecaller and more. But yes, you can uninstall them anytime. Samsung promises two years of major OS updates and four years of security updates.

Verdict

Samsung Galaxy F14 is a solid all-around package under 15K. You get great performance, solid battery backup and a superb UI experience. Not to forget, the main camera takes some really good shots as well.

While the display is average, the bottom-firing speaker is above average, so you can enjoy consuming content. All in all, Samsung Galaxy F14 is a good option for someone who wants a value-for-money 5G phone.
