POCO M7 Plus 5G Design and Build
Appearance constantly interacts first, and the POCO M7 Plus design communicates with the user. I posted its image on social media, and most users liked its new design approach. I am not attracted to its column cut-out on the back, but it doesn’t matter much if you like it.
This phone has a plastic back and frame, but plastic that is as durable as metal. Its back has a matte finish, making it more attractive and resistant to fingerprint stains.
It feels awkward to hold due to its body dimensions of 168.5 x 80.5 x 8.4 mm. You may also feel slightly bulky during day-to-day use due to its weight of 217 grams.
Regarding its ports, the phone features a power button and a volume button on the right side, as well as a SIM card slot on the left side.
An IR blaster is placed on top of the phone, while a microphone, a Type-C charger, and a volume strip are located at the bottom. Please note that there are no stereo speakers.
The POCO M7 Plus has a flat display, but it feels cheap compared to my current devices, the Apple iPhone 15 and Vivo V60.
Its display placement on the body is completely flat, while this phone’s display is positioned slightly higher on the body. There is also a display notch, but compared to other devices in a similar price range, the POCO M7 Plus stands out.

POCO M7 Plus 5G Camera
I think the POCO M7 Plus camera performs sometimes excellently, sometimes averagely. Let’s break down everything. I clicked many images in different conditions.
Its close-range images give top-level results; firstly, you can see flowers in white and pink colours picked accurately. Moreover, green leaves are also well captured in their original colour.
Still, when moving on to long-range shots, such as the “I love Cashify” images, they appear pixelated, and the colours cannot be reproduced accurately.
Right there, you can see my images in Portrait and normal mode; the phone almost picked my original skin tone. You can also see that its edges are captured accurately.
Last year, I also used the POCO M6 5G, and this phone has a far better camera. One thing I also need to mention is that this phone struggles with wide-angle shots, such as taking images with skies, but it cannot pick up the actual colours as they should be.
Moving on to its front camera, you can see my images, and I am amazed by its selfies because it performs outstandingly with proper lighting.
You can see it perfectly capturing the edges, and the colours are also fine. So, this phone ideal option for video calls and online classes.
Additionally, this phone only supports 1080p recording at 30 frames per second (fps) with both the rear and front cameras. Therefore, it is not an ideal phone for video recording, but it is satisfactory for daily use. Overall, the POCO M7 Plus 5G camera review is subtle and enjoyable for daily use.
POCO M7 Plus 5G Battery and Charging
The POCO M7 Plus boasts an impressive 7000mAh battery capacity, making it the only phone in the market with such a large battery in the under ₹13,000 price range. POCO promises a long-lasting battery and delivers perfectly, so I can say there is no marketing stunt.
Literally, I used this phone for almost two days on a single charge. While I played less BGMI on this phone, the battery consumption during gaming was faster than usual.
You also receive a 33W fast charger out of the box, which takes approximately 55 minutes to charge fully. It’s better to use it for charging; using other phones’ charge can affect its battery health. Overall, the POCO M7 Plus 5G battery review is outstanding.
POCO M7 Plus 5G Display
The POCO M7 Plus is an ideal phone for binge-watching, thanks to its 6.9-inch display, which is uncommon in most phones. It may be an exaggeration, but this phone feels like a tablet in your hand due to its large display.
This phone should have an AMOLED display instead of an IPS one, so you’ll definitely notice the difference. Watching will be great for normal videos or shows, but if you want to watch high-quality, richly coloured, or dark-themed movies, then you will not get the whole experience it should offer.
Another important thing is that the brand attempts to deceive users by manipulating the refresh rate. This phone offers a standard 60Hz refresh rate and can be upgraded to 144Hz in high settings. However, the unclear refresh rate is a problem because I was using this phone at high settings, yet it still felt slow during widget and YouTube scrolling.
I can’t specify precisely what refresh rate setting I was in during scrolling. Without any doubt, your experience will not be as smooth as it should be in this price segment.
The POCO M7 Plus offers 700 nits (typical) and 850 nits (HBM) brightness, and I found that using it in daylight was excellent. I used this phone in direct sunlight, and everything was readable, so there is no issue with brightness at all.
Moreover, its Corning Gorilla Glass 3 will also give you confidence against accidental falls because it is durable against damage. But using protective glass with this phone would be a wise choice. So, the POCO M7 Plus 5G display review is quite average.
POCO M7 Plus 5G Performance
The POCO M7 Plus performs well within its price range. It is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (6 nm) processor, which provides smooth performance for daily tasks. Over the course of seven days of using social media, watching YouTube, and occasionally gaming, I did not experience any glitches or lag issues.
Regarding the games I played multiple times, such as BGMI and Asphalt 9, this phone is not ideal for gaming, but you can still manage to play BGMI. However, there is no doubt that you will be in the lobby during hot drop landing, when those few seconds cause some rendering delay.
There is not much to say about RAM and storage, as it comes with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, which is more than enough for daily use.
I conducted several Benchmark tests on the POCO M7 Plus 5G to evaluate its accurate performance in various aspects. Its Geekbench CPU scores are 911 in single-core and 2057 in multi-core. The maximum CPU throttling test result is 86%. Moreover, its Antutu score is 464096. The 3DMark Wildlife Extreme Stress Test for stability has an overall score of 98.8%.
POCO M7 Plus 5G Software and UI
The POCO M7 Plus 5G comes with Android 15-based HyperOS 2, which is POCO’s latest UI approach. After using it for a week, I can say the software experience is clean and feature-packed.
The animations feel fluid, and the overall layout is easy to navigate, even for first-time POCO users.
I personally enjoyed the customisation options, such as theme support, lock screen styles, and Always-On display features, though the IPS LCD panel limits the latter. The phone neatly places notifications, and it manages apps smoothly.
However, the phone comes with some pre-installed bloatware that you may want to uninstall right away. Apps like GetApps and some POCO recommendations appear, but you can disable them. During my usage, I didn’t encounter unnecessary ads, which shows a big improvement compared to earlier POCO devices.
Overall, the POCO M7 Plus 5G software and UI review experience is decent, reliable for daily use, and makes multitasking simple without draining the huge battery.
After spending a week with this phone, I can confidently say in this POCO M7 Plus 5G review that the device is designed for users who want a long-lasting battery, a big display, and reliable performance under ₹13,000. It is not a gaming-focused phone, nor does it offer the premium feel of AMOLED panels, but for day-to-day use, online classes, social media, and binge-watching, it does the job quite well.
If you prefer compact phones or want stereo speakers and higher refresh rate stability, this may not be your best pick. But if your priority is massive battery life and a large screen for entertainment, the POCO M7 Plus 5G is one of the strongest contenders in this price segment. There are also a few phones in a similar price range, such as the CMF by Nothing Phone 1, Vivo T4x 5G, iQOO Z10x, and Realme P3 5G, among others. So, you can see these phones before purchasing. I hope you liked my POCO M7 Plus 5G review. Comment your thoughts below.
