OPPO Find X9 Review: Flagship Performance Meets Real-World Camera Challenges

Before we talk in detail about the OPPO Find X9, let’s see what the on-paper specs look like:

OPPO Find X9 comes with an excellent design with a smooth back finish. It has a flat display, and the in-hand feeling is amazing. During the OPPO Find X9 review, I mostly used this phone with a protective cover, but it still fits perfectly in a single hand due to its slim design. Its glass back does not take fingerprint stains.

The Find X series is OPPO’s flagship lineup, where we get a fresh camera layout that looks mesmerising compared to the rounded camera layout on the Find X8, which is common in phones.

Interestingly, its camera does not protrude from the back, which is why it lies perfectly flat on a table; this improves stability while using the phone on a desk.

OPPO has added an IP68/IP69 rating for dust-tight and water resistance, so it can resist high-pressure water jets and be immersed up to 1.5m for 30 minutes to give flagship-grade durability. Moreover, the brand has added Corning Gorilla Glass 7i with Mohs level 5 display protection to guard against accidental damage.

Moving to the ports and buttons, the phone has a microphone and a secondary speaker at the top. On the right side, there are the volume and power buttons. The left side has an Action button that you can customise; I used this button to take screenshots smoothly to add quick-access convenience. At the bottom, there is a Type-C port, a SIM tray, a microphone, and the main speaker.

Overall, the OPPO Find X9 design is amazing and gives a pleasing feeling to use. The combination of slim profile, flat design, and premium materials makes it comfortable for daily use.

OPPO Find X9 comes with a 50MP wide, 50MP periscope telephoto, and 50MP ultrawide sensor. Its main camera delivers very solid photos in good lighting with accurate colours and good dynamic range.

Moreover, its larger sensor size improves highlight control and preserves texture. But I observed occasional inconsistencies in exposure.

This is because it takes a few shots, which can be slightly over- or under-exposed in tricky backlit scenarios.

For example, look at the teacup: it was clicked at the same position and angle, but 1x zoom the most accurate colour, while 2x changes the whole scene to a yellowish tone.

Overall, the main sensor prioritises detail and HDR, but color consistency can shift slightly between zoom levels.

Similarly, you can see my portrait mode images as well, which I am delighted with in terms of edge detection. But I felt flaws in colour and depth accuracy compared to what I expected. I clicked most of the images in relatively low light, like 4 AM to 5 AM, and you will not see this type of pixelated image in bright light conditions.

The ultra-wide matches the colour tone well with the main camera, ensuring consistency across lenses. Some images I captured, like the Safdarganj Tomb at 0.6x, where the phone maintained the whole area with proper accuracy. But it also struggled in low-light conditions.

Night and low-light performance is good, but not best-in-class. The larger main sensor helps gather more light, reducing noise and boosting clarity in dim conditions. Moreover, Night mode brings out details well with slight noise reduction.

The telephoto struggles more than the primary lens in very low light, as expected given smaller optics and lack of periscope zoom hardware. In contrast, the telephoto lens lets you get closer without cropping, producing cleaner results than digital zoom alone. You can zoom up to 3× optical zoom, which is usable in daily use.

Beyond that, the Find X9 uses computational zoom, reaching 10–15× before softness and artefacts become evident. While zoomed to 120x, I clicked a Sugato flyer from the Cashify-owned accessory brand, which is not very clean and shows a pixelated image after camera AI processing. This model does not support the external Hasselblad teleconverter accessory.

Talking about the front camera, it has a 32MP sensor, and I think it’s one of the best things about this phone. Its front camera delivers crisper, more pleasing images than the rear camera under all conditions.

Also, its portrait mode is fantastic and gives perfect images with proper edge detection. Yes, you may find it slightly oversaturated, but it is ideal for social media posts. Users can record 4K videos at 120 fps with the rear camera and 4K at 30 fps with the front camera.

OPPO Find X9 comes with a large Si/C Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 7025 mAh. It offers long-lasting battery life on a single charge. I played a lot of BGMI and Asphalt 9 to check their maximum battery strength. I almost got 8 hours of battery life while using excessively, like games.

But when I watched movies or scrolled reels or social media, then I got almost 12 hours of screen time. If you watch downloaded movies in flight mode, you get more battery life than other users.

Moving on to charging, it comes with an 80W fast charge along with the box. Due to the large battery life, it takes almost one hour and 15 minutes.

OPPO Find X9 comes with a 6.59-inch AMOLED display, which feels compact and well-suited for one-handed use. I watched a lot of videos on this phone, and its deep black levels were excellent.

It also supports HDR Vivid, which enhances realism with richer and brighter colours, deeper blacks, and more detail in highlights and shadows, creating more lifelike and layered images with better texture and depth. This noticeably improves movie and HDR content quality.

Moreover, this phone supports HDR10+, allowing you to watch high-quality videos on YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and more. It also comes with Dolby Atmos, which provides spatial audio that places you at the centre of movies, music, and games. This makes sound feel like it comes from all around you, including overhead, to improve the immersive viewing experience.

OPPO Find X9 features 800 nits (typical), 1800 nits (HBM), and 3600 nits (peak) brightness, making it suitable for outdoor use. Due to the peak winter season and foggy atmosphere, I could not test it in harsh sunlight, but it performed very well under studio lights with minimal reflections.

Furthermore, it has a 120Hz refresh rate, allowing smooth scrolling and animations. You can change it in the settings to Standard (60Hz) or Auto, which adjusts the refresh rate based on usage, and it helps balance smoothness and battery life.

OPPO also added Ultra HDR support, which allows the screen to show images with much higher detail, brighter highlights, deeper shadows, and richer colours than standard displays. This improves photo and video quality.

OPPO Find X9 comes with the most powerful Mediatek Dimensity 9500 (3 nm) chipset. It offers smooth performance in daily use. I mostly used this for watching movies, scrolling social media, and even playing BGMI and Asphalt 9 games.

During day-to-day use, I never felt any lag or glitch and could not feel any warm. During gameplay, I could feel a slight warmth, but its advanced, extensive vapour cooling chamber system helps reduce heat.

OPPO has a special cooling system that helps keep the phone cool. This system uses a large vapour chamber along with thin mesh, thermal gel, and graphite layers. It works together to move heat away from key components such as the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip and the camera. This helps the phone keep working well, especially when doing heavy tasks like gaming and recording 4K videos, without overheating or slowing down.

This phone is avilable in multiple storage options, but it comes with the most capable UFS 4.1 type of storage, which is relatively fast and advanced tech. This tech helps to fast data processing and saves more battery life than older ones.

During the OPPO Find X9 review, I ran several Benchmark tests to assess its performance across different aspects. Its Geekbench scores are 2844 in single-core and 8597 in multi-core. The maximum in the CPU throttling test is 75 per cent. Moreover, its Antutu score is 3525074. The 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme Stress Test for stability has an overall score of 50%.

OPPO Find X9 comes with Android 16 based on Colour OS 16 with up to five major Android updates. Moreover, OPPO improved a lot of things in Colour OS 16, offering amazing animations for app closing and opening.

You get aligned app widgets in the sidebar from right to left, but you can change it in settings to alphabetical order from top to bottom, which I did. It’s Internet, Wifi, and other controls, clean and not messy, and can be added as needed for any specific button. I have an Apple iPhone 15 and am using iOS 26.2, and I got most similarities in the Photo section UI.

OPPO Find X9 comes with a comprehensive suite of AI capabilities integrated into its ColorOS 16 operating system and camera system, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. It has some Core AI Features for content creation, productivity, and system performance.

You get AI Mind Space to save on-screen content into an organised hub, AI Recording and Summary to transcribe speech and detect visuals during recordings, then generate summaries and titles, and AI Writer. In contrast, it has Google Gemini Integration, which allows users to control native phone applications using natural-language commands.

Few Performance & Other AI Enhancements, such as the AI Private Computing Cloud, to process sensitive data in a secure, encrypted environment. O+ Connect uses AI for file sharing and clipboard syncing with PCs, screen mirroring, and remote control of up to five mobile apps simultaneously.

During the OPPO Find X9 review, I used this to connect my MacBook Pro and Apple iPhone 15 from photos trasfer. At the same time, OPPO added some AI photography features with a Hasselblad co-engineered camera system that uses AI for photos and videos. Some AI features, such as AI Portrait Glow, AI Clarity Enhancer, AI Unblur, AI Eraser and AI Reflection Remover clears away glare and unwanted reflections.
