  • Samsung recently introduced its next generation of flip-and-fold phones at its Galaxy Unpacked Event in Paris. While I couldn’t go to Paris, I recently embarked on a visit to two Reliance Digital outlets to get a first look at these upcoming flagship phones. I got a glimpse of these next-generation foldables at the Reliance Digital Store at Shipra Mall and Mahagun Mall, Indirapuram.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 5G and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 5G will go on sale next week. These smartphones have significant AI upgrades under the hood and are filled to the brim with Galaxy AI features that can supercharge your productivity to the next level.

    Hands-On Experience With Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 And Z Flip 6

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: Reliance Digital Visit

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 introduces a new design with a colour-coded camera ring that gives these flip-foldable phones a new look. Samsung has also improved the design of these phones with a more durable and dust-proof hinge. Previously, these phones only offered an IPX rating that was protected against occasional water splashes. The Z Flip 6 also has a new ultrawide camera sensor that improves its photography capabilities.

Similarly, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 has redesigned edges similar to those of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. This has allowed Samsung to have a more uniform look across its flagship smartphones. Another thing I noticed is that the cover screen is now a bit taller, allowing for better content consumption.

Both are powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset, which offers ray-tracing capabilities, making it perfect for gamers. Another great feature is that you can use multiple apps side by side for better productivity. I tried opening the messages app, Gmail, in split screen mode while a third app, Google Maps, was running in a floating window during my Reliance Digital visit.

Interesting Facts I Discovered During My Reliance Digital Visit

Reliance Digital Visit: Some Interesting Facts

Another interesting fact that I learned during my visit to Reliance Digital is that the Store employees told me during an informal chat that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 demo units survived a few accidental falls and came out unscathed. The store employee also revealed that the recently launched Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is only available in three locations in Delhi NCR: Saket, Aditya City Center, Indirapuram, and another mall.

When I enquired further about the foldable’s availability, he revealed that Vivo is currently gauging consumer interest and only offering demo units based on demand. As a part of the launch offer, you can get Rs.10,000 off on the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. He also claimed that the X Fold 3 Pro is durable enough to fit paper inside its hinge and lift the entire phone.

During my Reliance Digital visit, I also noticed the new Amber Yellow colour for the Samsung Galaxy S24, apart from the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, which I was curious to check out as I currently use the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. The rotating bezel of the Watch 6 Classic impressed me with its smoothness and usefulness. Furthermore, the company’s last-year flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, is available on sale at Reliance Digital with a massive discount.

Hands-On With OnePlus Open And Xiaomi 14 Ultra During Reliance Digital Visit

During my visit to Reliance Digital, I looked at other flagship phones, including the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and the OnePlus Open, in addition to the latest foldable. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra seriously impressed me with its thick, soft vegan leather finish and gigantic camera module. This massive camera module is the show’s star, bringing smartphone photography closer to DSLR cameras.

Xiaomi 14 Civi: Reliance Digital Visit

I also got to experience the new Xiaomi 14 Civi, a mid-range phone that offers Leica capabilities similar to Ultra but more affordable. A quick camera comparison with the Ultra revealed that the phone has similar specs on paper; the Ultra is undoubtedly the better pick for handling exposure and lighting.

    OnePlus Open: Reliance Digital Visit

On the other hand, the OnePlus Open, with its passport-like form factor similar to the Google Pixel Fold, enables a next-level multitasking experience. You can open up to five apps simultaneously; even the newest Z Fold 6 doesn’t allow it. However, there was a slight hiccup during my Reliance Digital visit experience, as the tempered glass sheet covering the demo unit started peeling off, which is a bit concerning for a phone that costs 140K.

Other phones I checked during my Reliance Digital visit were the new OnePlus Nord CE 4 and the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite. Both phones offer a great Oxygen OS experience for those who want a budget OnePlus device. Similarly, I experienced the Motorola Edge 50 Pro 5G and the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, which boast curved displays and clean software.
