On Wednesday, Google revealed LaMDA 2 as its next conversational artificial intelligence (AI) model as its next conversational artificial intelligence (AI) model during the I/O 2022 consumer keynote. LaMDA 2 is the follow-up to last year’s I/O developer conference’s original LaMDA — short for Language Models for Dialog Applications. In addition, Google also introduced LaMDA 2, a dedicated tool to assist outsiders in evaluating AI models like LaMDA.
LaMDA 2, like its predecessor, aims to help developers create better conversational apps. LaMDA 2 has “amazing conversational skills,” according to Google CEO Sundar Pichai. The new AI model communicates with consumers on many subjects using many datasets.

Pichai demonstrated LaMDA 2’s breadth by asking the AI model to depict a scene from the Mariana Trench in the western Pacific Ocean. The model reacted by describing the animals in the trench. It even asked inquiries on subjects like submarines and bioluminescence that it wasn’t prepared to answer.

What’s More On LaMDA 2?
The AI Test Kitchen app has three modes: Imagine, Talk About, and List. LaMDA’s ‘Imagine It’ll feature lets you define a location. The ‘Talk About It’ mode enables the AI model to discuss a subject in length, while the ‘List It’ mode allows users to give the model any task or topic to break down into relevant and informative bullet points. The program may also produce advice for the topics it provides, the trial revealed.
Google’s AI Test Kitchen app also allows users to submit input to help developers enhance the AI model.

“We aim to answer more inquiries in more languages one day,” Pichai stated.
It will initially offer the AI Test Kitchen only in the US. Its main goal is to enhance Google’s testing models. The software will also keep integrating new “developing areas of AI” to improve current and future models.
In the future, this might help Google improve products like Google Search, Google Assistant, and others that employ software algorithms to learn user preferences and give an everyday experience with devices that we have in our homes (read: PCs and laptops) or even in our hands (read smartphones).
Google is also working on chain-of-thought prompting to assist AI models in answering complex queries like how many hours are in a month.
Users may see “promising outcomes” when Google’s new method is used with its newly unveiled AI model Pathways Language Model (PaLM), Pichai stated.
