Instagram, Meta’s famous social media platform, has introduced a new feature, ‘Notes’. According to the platform, they are a new way to communicate with your followers on the app. However, what are they good for? Still confused or have no idea what the whole Instagram Notes thing is all about? Now, Instagram is rolling out the Notes feature for its users in India. Although this is pretty normal as Instagram regularly adds new features to improve the user’s experience on its platform. This new feature has caused a bit of a reaction from many users.
Simply put, Instagram Notes are essentially post-it notes you can leave your followers to see. You can use them to express your opinion on anything from world politics to your unpopular opinions. According to reports, user notes will feature in the DM section and disappear in 24 hours, similar to Stories. However, users cannot track the views of a note.

If you want a step-by-step guide on how to use the newest feature Instagram Notes, here’s how you do it:
1: Open the Instagram app on your Android or iOS device.
2: Swipe left to open the chat page or tap on the chat icon at the top right corner.
3: Notes head will appear below the search tab. Click on the ‘Your Note’ option to create one.
4: Now, write a note within 60 characters.
5: Tap the share button in the top right corner. Furthermore, Instagram only lets you share a note with ‘followers you follow back’ or only to ‘close friends’.

The changes are displayed above the rest of the message on the chat page, just like Stories. The profile photos of accounts that have shared notes will appear similarly. The Instagram Notes feature differs from Stories in way that it only offers an option to share text with a limit of 60 characters. Unlike Stories, users can’t see which friends have read or viewed their notes. However, the user will get complete control over their privacy and will be able to decide whether they want to share their notes with the close friend’s list or any particular group of friends.

On the other hand, Instagram is also reportedly working on developing a useful safety feature. It would protect users from receiving unsolicited nude images in their direct messages (DMs). Sources say that Meta has confirmed that the feature is still in the early stages of development. The upcoming feature also allows users to filter direct message requests containing offensive content automatically.
