  • Today we will compare the Google flagship phones, the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 6. In this post, we will find out what all upgrades and improvements we see in the latest Pixel phone. The Google Pixel 7 has just landed in the Indian smartphone market and made its grand entry on October 6. While there are some similarities between the two phones, there are a bunch of upgrades as well.

The Google Pixel 7 is launched for Rs. 59,999 in India, while the Google Pixel 6 was never officially launched in India. So let’s start this comparison and find out which phone is better for you.

Pixel 7 Vs Pixel 6: Display & Design

The Pixel 7 packs a 6.3-inch display, whereas the Pixel 6 features a 6.4 inches display. You get to see AMOLED panels on both phones. The display quality is great on both phones, with good viewing angles. However, the Pixel 7 comes with more screen-to-body ratio of about 84.9 per cent compared to the 83.4 per cent on the Pixel 6.

Both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 feature a similar design language, coming with a glass back and metal frame. However, the new Pixel 7 comes with a redesigned camera unit at the back, which looks more premium. Coming over to the front, you will see a punch-hole camera on the top of both phones.

Pixel 7 Vs Pixel 6: Performance & Software

The Google Pixel 7 is powered by a Tensor G2 chipset, whereas the Pixel 6 is powered by the Tensor chipset. Both phones are powerful, but the new chipset has improved performance with better battery efficiency.

Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 both feature 8GB of RAM, which is enough for smooth multitasking. The Pixel 6 comes with 128GB and 256GB of internal storage, and the Pixel 7 also comes with the same storage options. But in India, the Google Pixel 7 is launched with only a 128GB storage option.

You can play games on high settings on both phones without worrying about lags or frame drops. However, the new Pixel 7 is more powerful than the Pixel 6. Pixel 6 shipped Android 12 out of the box, whereas Pixel 7 runs on Android 13 out of the box.

Pixel 7 Vs Pixel 6: Camera

The camera is the highlight of all Pixel phones, and that’s why we will discuss the same here. The Pixel 7 features a dual camera setup of a 50 MP primary sensor and 12 MP ultra-wide lens, the same as the Pixel 6. However, things are not the same on the front.

Pixel 7 packs a 10.8MP selfie camera on the front, while the Pixel 6 comes with an 8MP selfie camera. We can expect minor improvements from the main camera, whereas the selfies from the front camera will be way better than Pixel 6.

Pixel 7 Vs Pixel 6: Battery & Charging

Talking about the battery, the Pixel 7 packs a 4,355 mAh battery which is not an upgrade from the 4,614 mAh on the Pixel 6. There’s won’t be any major difference in the battery life, though, considering this battery cell on the Pixel 7 is powered by the highly efficient Google Tensor G2 chipset.

Both phones come with 30W fast charging support and feature a Type-C port for charging the phone. You can also wirelessly charge both devices with Qi wireless chargers. A reverse wireless charging feature is also available to charge your smartwatches and earbuds.

    Final Verdict

At last, we can see that the Google Pixel 7 brings only minor upgrades over the Google Pixel 6. There are also significantly few cosmetic changes on the camera unit. We see a new Google chipset on the Pixel 7, which definitely offers better performance than the Pixel 6.

Other than that, the display and camera are almost the same as before. The battery performance should also be slightly better on the Pixel 7 when compared to the Pixel 6. Overall, the Google Pixel 7 is a better phone than the Pixel 6 and a decent upgrade if your budget allows it.
