Realme is gearing up to launch their Realme 8i model on September 9, 2021, in India. In addition, the Realme 8s will be launching alongside the 8i. Both the devices have been very popular even ahead of their official launch. The company has been teasing various details about the two devices, especially the 8i, on their official Twitter account. Further, the Realme 8i price in India has not been revealed by the company as of now.
Realme India has recently revealed that the 8i will actually be the very first smartphone to be powered by the MediaTek Helio G96. Performance wise, the G96 chipset by MediaTek performs mostly like an overclocked MediaTek Helio G95 SoC. The G95 is an incredible budget chipset that can pretty much handle anything you throw at it. Realme 8i Specifications
Design
Last month, Digit.in collaborated with popular tipster OnLeaks to leak Realme 8i design renders. As per these leaked renders, the smartphone will come with a glossy back panel finish. Further, these design renders reveal a gradient design. We can also see curved edges on the device’s back panel.
We can also see a square camera module at the back which houses a triple rear camera setup. Additionally, the setup is accompanied by an LED flash as well. These renders were the first to reveal that the device will be coming with a punch-hole display.
The renders also reveal the presence of a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. When it comes to the dimensions of the device, the Realme 8i will measure 8.6mm in thickness and weigh 194 grams.
Display and Software
According to the various reports, leaks and rumours, the smartphone will come with a 6.59-inch display. In addition, this will be a Full-HD+ IPS display. Further, the display will also come with a fast 120Hz refresh rate alongside a punch-hole display design. When it comes to the software, the smartphone will run on Android 11 with the Realme UI 2.0 custom skin on top.

Processor and Storage
On the processor front, the smartphone will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G96 SoC. Talking about the G96 specs, it sports two Cortex-A76 cores. Now, these two cores come with a clock speed of up to 2.05GHz. In addition, there are six other Cortex-A55 cores as well in the chipset. The G96 chipset pairs up with the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The processor and GPU will be paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.
Camera Setup and Battery
Moving to the cameras, the Realme 8i specs are expected to include a triple rear camera setup. Further, the setup will feature a 50-megapixel primary sensor along with a 2-megapixel portrait sensor. In addition, the setup will also include a 2-megapixel sensor for macro shots. On the front, the smartphone will come with a 16-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls.
When it comes to the battery specs of the device, it is expected to pack a big 5000mAh battery. Moreover, the battery will also pair up with fast charging support as well. However, the exact fast charging specifications for the device is currently not clear.
Realme 8i Release Date in India
As mentioned before, the smartphone is all set to launch in India on September 9, 2021. The official launch of the handset is actually a day away from today, the 7th of September, 2021. However, Realme is not planning on only launching their 8i model on that day. The company will also be launching their Realme 8s smartphone in the country.
Realme 8i Price in India and Availability
Although the company has not revealed anything when it comes to the price of the upcoming devices in India as of now, we can expect a couple of things on that front. Going by Realme’s way of pricing their 8 series smartphones, we can expect the 8i to start at near about Rs. 12,000. On the other, the Realme 8s price in India could start at Rs. 15,000.
