    Qualcomm Snapdragon 865

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 is currently the flagship chipset from Qualcomm. It is used in most top-level smartphones in the market. The SoC is powering on a fast prime core at 2.84GHz along with three other ARM Cortex-A77 cores that can reach up to 2.42GHz. These four cores enhance the performance of the device and help the device power all the complicated computations and gaming.

The processor also has four power-saving cores based on Cortex-A55 architecture and has a maximum frequency of just 1.8GHz. The Snapdragon 865  makes a switch from the slower Cortex A76 cores that were used in the Snapdragon 855 chipsets. The Snapdragon 855+ is slightly overclocked and the prime core in the device can reach up to 2.96GHz.

What Are The Best Processors For Gaming

The Snapdragon 865 takes up the top spot for Android-based smartphones and in multi-core workloads. The chipset has performed on par with the Apple A13 SoC. The chipset does not integrate any LTE modem anymore. But uses the new X55 5G modem which also supports LTE for connectivity. The integrated GPU in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset is the Adreno 650. This GPU has a 20 per cent higher performance than the previous generation Adreno 640 that is on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. The on-board DSP now offers improved performance of 15TOPS up from just 7 TOPS in the previous generation.

The Snapdragon 865 SoC supports up to LPDDR5 RAM at 2,750MHz. Smartphone manufacturers can make the best use of this to offer the best performance for gaming. The SoC is based on a new 7nm manufacturing process. It offers 7 per cent better performance and consumes 10 per cent lesser power than the previous generation chipsets.

    Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G

While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor is extremely capable. It is also found in phones that are generally extremely expensive for the normal crowd. A fair enough replacement for this is the Snapdragon 730G SoC which is a great alternative for gamers on a budget. The Snapdragon 730G is a fast mid-range SoC with eight cores. It comes with two ARM Cortex-A76 cores at 2.2GHz and six smaller ARM Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8GHz each. The Snapdragon 730G is optimized for gaming and has higher clock speeds. It also offers optimized Wi-Fi. The GPU also supports higher resolutions than default and also supports 720P recording at up to 960FPS.

What Are The Best Processors For Gaming

The Snapdragon 730G comes with a fast X15 LTE that supports up to 800Mbps download and 150Mbps upload. The processor is supported by LPDDR4X dual-channel memory and comes with Adreno 618 GPU. The Adreno 618 is no match to the Adreno 650 GPU that is on the more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. It is still pretty good and meets the expectations of most gamers. The Snapdragon 730G uses a slightly inferior 8nm manufacturing process comparing to the Snapdragon 865 which is an understandable trade-off considering the difference in pricing.

    MediaTek Helio P90

The MediaTek Helio P90 chipset uses Cortex-A75 CPUs along with six Cortex-A55 CPUs in a single octa-core cluster. While it does seem a little underpowered initially, the advantage of the MediaTek P90 is the ability to run all eight cores together. On the contrary, the Qualcomm processors only run four cores at a time.

What’s The Dream Configuration For Smartphone To Play PUBG

Graphical processing is provided by the PowerVR GM 9446 GPU which does offer some amazing performance. Albeit, not as good as the Adreno 650 on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. The MediaTek Helio P90 also comes with an APU 2.0. The company claims to be the most powerful AI powerhouse in a smartphone today. Moreover, it claims to be 50 per cent more powerful than the high-end competition.
