Numerous rumours were floating around about the iPhone 14’s design. Some stories also suggested that the phone could arrive with a pill-drop camera cutout. But, the iPhone 14 retained the notch design at the display like its predecessor models, which houses the selfie camera and Face ID sensor.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 also has a glossy finish, giving the device a premium look. The diagonal dual-camera mounting at the back of the phone looks pleasing and balanced. Ultimately, we can conclude that the iPhone 14’s design is similar to the iPhone 13.

Some leaks on the internet also suggested that the iPhone 14 might finally arrive with a USB-C port. However, the rumours of USB Type C inclusion were later put to rest after its official launch. There aren’t too many changes in iPhone 14 on the design front, either. Considering the iPhone 14 vs iPhone 13 design, you won’t see any significant changes.

iPhone 14 vs iPhone 13: Performance and Storage

The iPhone 14 was expected to come with a new A16 Bionic chipset and more RAM. However, the phone still sports the same A15 Bionic chipset as the Apple iPhone 13, and the A16 chipset is only available for iPhone 14 Pro models. The smartphone also retains the latest 5G modem, which isn’t surprising.

On the other hand, the iPhone 13 also has the same Apple’s A15 Bionic chipset, as mentioned above. The chipset does not essentially offer a significant change from the A14 chipset found on the Apple iPhone 12. However, it has better scores on the benchmark apps and can handle extreme graphics with much smaller frame drops.

The iPhone 14 has storage options from 128GB to up to 512GB. Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 is also available in three variants of 128GB, 256GB and 512Gb, all paired with 4GB RAM. Both phones do not have an expandable storage option.

Camera Comparison

The iPhone 14 was expected to arrive with an upgrade in the camera module, with a 48MP primary camera. But Apple still retained the same dual 12MP camera module. This also means that the imagery will be quite similar to the Apple iPhone 13.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 also has a dual rear camera module. The module includes a 12MP primary camera and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The camera features of the iPhone 13 include 5X Digital Zoom, 2X Optical Zoom, Auto Flash and Face Detection. The iPhone 13 camera is one of the finest cameras in the smartphone market right now, with the legacy continuing in the Apple iPhone 14.

Comparing the front cameras, the iPhone 14 also retains the 12MP front camera. The iPhone 13 also has a single 12MP selfie camera with Retina Flash.

When you look at the changes in iPhone 14 vs iPhone cameras, there are hardly any changes. You might see a wider aperture and better autofocus on the iPhone 14 front camera. But a significant new feature is that the support for cinematic mode on the iPhone 14 is now capped up to 4K 30fps resolution Meanwhile, the 48-megapixel primary camera sensor is only included in the iPhone 14 Pro models.

Battery and Charging

The iPhone 14 was expected to have a USB-C charging connectivity option instead of the lightning cable. But, on the contrary, it still retains the lighting port like the Apple iPhone 13. The iPhone 14 also has a bigger 3,279mAh battery, with 20W wired fast charging support.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 comes with a 3,227mAh battery. You get Fast 20W charging support and 15W wireless charging on the iPhone 13. The phone charges up to 50% in 30 minutes with wired charging.
