With all of its features, Tecno Camon 17 is a good handset for budget consumers, but I believe it will face some competition from other devices in the same price bracket. For example, Tecno has included a great Mediatek Helio G85 chipset in the smartphone, which has some great gaming capabilities. However, the smartphone costs 13k in India, and while a Mediatek Dimensity 5G chipset is available for the same price, I believe people would choose to get the 5G handset. This will certainly reduce the potential of Tecno Camon 17, but it can still be purchased by normal consumers. Let’s take a detailed look at the Tecno Camon 17.

The first impression of the phone is it looks very premium to me and has a feel to it. I have got the Spruce Green colour, and it looks really appealing. A similar colour can be found on iPhone 11 Pro (midnight green). It’s a fantastic looking colour with a matt finish. The thing I don’t like much is the big Camon branding on the back of the phone. This phone is really tall and fits really good in your hand. The phone is just 8.8 mm thick and will not feel heavy in your hand at all. Even though it is a big phone, it is thin and not much wide, so it can be used really well with just one hand.

You can say it’s just the right dimensions for single-hand usage. The quad-camera setup will be the first thing to catch our eyes but users would not like the big back camera bump on the back of the phone due to which you cannot use it while it’s placed on a table. Due to this camera bump, the phone may not feel sturdy. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the power button. While we were testing this it worked really well and was very responsive. 

There are little things in the phone design that impressed us. One of those little things is the textured finish on the volume buttons. All of this adds up to make a stunning design of Techno Camon 17. The overall design of the phone is pretty good, it has a solid feel to it and is pretty sturdy too. Though it has a plastic body, you won’t feel that you are using a cheap phone.

This phone is for you if you like bigger screens to play games or watch movies. Tecno Camon 17 sports a big 6.8-inch Full HD+ display. The display of the phone offers great colours and good brightness with a peak brightness of 500 nits. You won’t face any problems even in the sunlight. You would love the display if you consume a lot of content throughout your day. Although you might feel there is a big chin on the bottom of the phone but it is normal with LCD displays. The punch hole camera is placed at the perfect spot which is the centre punch-hole design. The punch hole might seem a bit big for some users but the overall screen is very much bezel-less and give a great Immersive experience. Tecno Camon 17 holds dual SIM support and runs on Android 11 with HiOS v7.6 custom OS. The good thing about this OS is that there are multiple built-in features that you won’t find anywhere else. There is one WhatsApp mode in the phone which is when turned on only allows WhatsApp to use the mobile data and no other application on the device can use the mobile data. Tecno Camon 17 is powered by a decent 5000 mAh battery that lets you use it for a longer time duration while watching movies, listening to songs, playing games and doing other stuff without worrying about the battery drainage. Talking about normal usage, you can easily get the battery backup of at least one and a half-day. Talking about charging,  even though the smartphone comes with 18W fast charging, it will easily take more than 2 hours to completely charge the big 5000 mAh battery of the smartphone.
