Samsung Galaxy F13 Design and Build

Starting off with the looks, the Samsung Galaxy F13 comes with a nice design that catches the eyes from far away. It comes with a plastic body that feels sturdy in the hands. The phone has curved edges with curved corners, which offers a comfortable grip on the hands.

The back comes with a unique finger-print textured finish which I have never seen before. This makes the phone absolutely free from fingerprints and smudges. However, the phone is a bit thick and on the heavier side, weighing about 207 grams. This is mainly because the phone packs a bigger battery inside.

You will also see a vertical rectangular camera unit on the back that houses the triple camera setup with Samsung branding on the bottom.

Talking about ports and button placements, the right side of the phone features volume buttons along with a power button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The left side has a SIM card slot. The bottom houses a Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack and speaker grill, while the top side is left clean.

    Samsung Galaxy F13 Display

The Samsung Galaxy F13 features a big FHD+ 6.6-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels. The display offers a standard refresh rate of 60Hz and a peak brightness of 480 nits. This is a standard set of display specs you see here on Galaxy F13. It does a decent job.

    Samsung Galaxy F13 Display

The display quality is quite good with nice colours and clarity. Although it’s not as punchy and vibrant as an AMOLED display, I could easily read texts and see icons clearly on a cloudy day. However, things get a little tough if it’s sunny outdoors.

I would have appreciated if Samsung could have given an AMOLED display here like its other phones in this segment.  It comes with a v-shaped notch design which seems a bit dated, along with thin bezels around the display except for the bottom one, which is slightly thicker.

Additionally, the Display settings have a feature for eye comfort. Once activated, it will minimise the amount of blue light that is emitted from the display, reducing the strain on your eyes while using the phone at night.

I watched a couple of videos on YouTube, and my experience was pretty nice. Note that the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, so it can handle a few accidental drops. Overall, I could ensure you that the display quality is on par with most phones in this price segment.

    Samsung Galaxy F13 Camera

The Samsung Galaxy F13 features a triple camera setup on the back. This includes a 50MP primary camera, a 5MP wide-angle lens and a 2MP depth lens. You get an 8MP camera on the front for taking selfies.

    Samsung Galaxy F13 Camera

The 50MP primary camera takes some good shots in daylight. The images had a good amount of details and were clear. The images were bright and the colours were close to natural. The shots taken indoors were also pretty nice.

The portrait shots were good as well. The blur effect was done nicely and the subject was well separated from the background. Since there is no night mode, the phone struggles to take decent shots in low light.

Coming over to the wide-angle shots, they lacked details and the colours looked a little pale. The shots covered more area but the dynamic range was not on par with the main lens.

The selfies taken with the 8MP lens came out to be pretty good in daylight. The shots were detailed, clear and crisp. The skin tones were close to natural as well. However, things don’t look so good in low light.

The Samsung Galaxy F13 can record 1080p videos at 30fps from both the main and selfie camera.

Samsung Galaxy F13 Performance and UI

The Samsung Galaxy F13 is powered by an Exynos 850 chipset which is paired with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. The phone delivers a decent performance for the price and works great as a daily diver.

You can also add a further 4GB of RAM using the RAM expansion feature. This doesn’t help much in daily life usage but comes into play while multitasking. Talking about multitasking, the phone can handle a couple of apps easily and I was able to seamlessly switch among them.

The Galaxy F13 is not a gaming phone but I tried to play a couple of games and my experience was not the best as expected. Call of Duty Mobile and Asphalt 9 could run on medium settings but the gameplay was a bit laggy and shuttering. I had to lower the settings to get a better gaming experience.

    Samsung Galaxy F13 gaming

Overall, it will be enough for casual users but definitely not the best option for hardcore gamers out there.

The Galaxy F13 runs on OneUI 4.1 which is based on Android 12. The UI comes with a lot of features and customisation options including colour palette, dark mode, and more.

One downside of the UI was it came pre-installed with a bunch of bloatware. This included Dailyhunt, Snapchat, Josh, Truecaller, Phonepe and more. The good thing is that you can uninstall these from the app settings.

Samsung promises to deliver two years of major software updates along with two years of security updates.

Samsung Galaxy F13 Battery and Charging

The Samsung Galaxy F13 comes with a massive 6000mAh battery which is the main highlight of the phone. The phone can easily last two days of casual use. Light users can even get some juice left for the third day.

    Samsung Galaxy F13 Battery

I got about 7-8 hours of screen on time which is amazing. My usage involved binge-watching Netflix series, scrolling through my Instagram feed and playing some games. You can have some really long gaming sessions with this phone without worrying about charging it every day.

But when it’s time to charge, god it takes a while. The Galaxy F13 comes with only 15W fast charging support which is quite slow considering the battery size. It takes about 2 hours to fully charge the phone from 0 to 100 per cent.

    Verdict

Samsung has managed to put a lot together in this bulky device to make it a solid all-rounder. It has a nice display, decent primary camera, one of the best UI and, not to forget, a massive 6000mAh battery.

Of course, the huge battery is the major selling point of this phone. However, Samsung has cut some corners as well. The phone only offers 15W fast charging, which is just not enough. The performance of the F13 isn’t groundbreaking, and you may find some better alternatives based on your preferences.

All in all, it’s a solid option for those who are looking for a good-looking budget friendly phone that can survive two days without charging.
