The brand-new OnePlus 9 series of smartphones were recently launched in India. It comes with a lot of features and options. The series comes with three smartphones – the OnePlus 9R, the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro. Design – OnePlus 9 vs OnePlus 9 Pro vs OnePlus 9R
By having a glimpse and the rear and the front of the smartphones, the devices all look very similar. All three devices come with a glass front and a Glass back and all of the devices have Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. However, the OnePlus 9R and the OnePlus 9 Pro come with an aluminium frame while the OnePlus 9 comes with a plastic frame.
The OnePlus 9 is the lightest and the thinnest of the three options and weighs in just under the OnePlus 9R thanks to the plastic frame. Only the OnePlus 9 Pro offers an IP68 rating, while the other two does offer some kind of water resistance the devices have not been rated or certified against water resistance.

The OnePlus 9 Pro which is the device with all the bells and whistles is the thickest, largest, and heaviest of the three smartphones and feels premium in the hand.
Display – OnePlus 9 vs OnePlus 9 Pro vs OnePlus 9R
The displays on all three devices are very similar with small differences, the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9R come with Fluid AMOLED displays measuring 6.55-inches diagonally, but the OnePlus 9 Pro comes with an updated LTPO Fluid 2 AMOLED display measuring 6.7-inches diagonally. All three devices have a 120Hz refresh rate. But the OnePlus 9 Pro has the highest peak brightness at 1300 nits.
The three devices all support an Always-on display and come with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The devices have the front camera embedded into the display in the top left corner. However, the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9R come with a FullHD+ resolution. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 9 Pro comes with a QuadHD+ resolution panel adding more detail to the viewing experience.

Camera – OnePlus 9 vs OnePlus 9 Pro vs OnePlus 9R
Coming to the optics of the phone, the OnePlus 9 comes with a simple triple camera setup while the OnePlus 9R and the OnePlus 9 Pro come with a Quad Camera setup. The OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro both have a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture while the OnePlus 9R has an f/1.7 aperture. The OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro share the same 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor but the OnePlus 9R comes with a 16-megapixel ultra-wide sensor instead.
All three devices have a 2-megapixel depth sensor, but the OnePlus 9 Pro comes with an additional 8-megapixel telephoto lens. Whereas, the OnePlus 9R comes with a 5-megapixel macro instead. The OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro support recording video at up to 8K resolution. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 9R is limited to 4K recording at up to 60FPS.

Performance – OnePlus 9 vs OnePlus 9 Pro vs OnePlus 9R
This is yet another aspect where the OnePlus 9R stands apart from the rest. The OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro are powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor based on a 5nm manufacturing process. Whereas, the OnePlus 9R uses a Snapdragon 870 processor based on a 7nm manufacturing process. The OnePlus 9R also has an Adreno 650 GPU while the other two devices have an Adreno 660 GPU.

The devices all come with UFS 3.1 Storage of up to 256GB. It also has up to 12GB of RAM on the top variants. All the three devices in the series run on Oxygen OS 11 software. But the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro are bound to perform better both in regular usage as well as in games. Because it comes with a better processor and GPU setup compared to the OnePlus 9R smartphone.
Battery – OnePlus 9 vs OnePlus 9 Pro vs OnePlus 9R
All three smartphones are very similar in this particular feature as they all come with a 4,500mAh battery. The three smartphones in the series all support 65W fast charging. It can juice up the battery from 0 to 100 per cent in just 40 minutes. However, only the OnePlus 9 Pro comes with wireless charging support. This premium smartphone can charge wirelessly at up to 50W.

In terms of pricing, the OnePlus 9R comes for the lowest price at just Rs 39,999. While the OnePlus 9 comes in at Rs 54,999. The OnePlus 9 Pro which is the highest-end smartphone of the three comes at Rs 64,999. While the three devices do have differences in Camera, Performance, and Displays it is important to note that these are minor differences. All the devices perform very well in real-world usage.
