WhatsApp has announced a new feature to enhance the security of users during calls. This new feature will protect the IP address of users during WhatsApp calls, making it harder for people to trace or locate them. It prevents malicious actors from intercepting your calls and knowing your location.

According to a post on Meta’s engineering blog, it created the feature as most calling apps use peer-to-peer connection, which allows participants to see each other’s IP address. Although this offers better call quality, it can also reveal information such as your IP Address and details of your internet service provider.

Since all calls have end-to-end encryption on WhatsApp, any call relayed via its servers will remain confidential, and even WhatsApp cannot listen to them.

However, there is a potential downside: you will experience a reduced call quality as they are now relayed via WhatsApp servers. It is now available for iOS and Android users on the latest version of WhatsApp.
