The Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus announced its first foldable smartphone. The company announced its first foldable smartphone at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC 2023). The company disclosed this during the panel discussion “From Fast and Smooth to Beyond” in this show.

Let us tell you that the company had already given a glimpse of the upcoming foldable smartphone in its Cloud 11 event. Apart from this, the OnePlus 11 concept phone was launched at MWC in Barcelona. The handset comes with a miniaturized liquid calling system. It is said that the upcoming foldable handset offers a faster and smoother experience. It will take on Samsung, Oppo and Motorola in the foldable space.

A glimpse of the upcoming foldable smartphone was shown by OnePlus during the OnePlus Cloud 11 event on February 7. At the same time, now the company has announced that it will launch its foldable phone in the third quarter of the year 2023.

Kinder Liu, President and COO of OnePlus, said in a press statement that the foldable smartphone will come with a faster and smoother experience. He confirmed that the phone will be a flagship phone that will not compromise on its folding form including industrial design and mechanical technology.

“It must be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market.”


OnePlus said that the company will share more details on this in the coming months. Some leaks and reports regarding the expected specifications have been doing the rounds on the internet for a while now. According to a report, the first foldable phone from OnePlus will feature a 2K display. It is similar to the one on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.

A little over a week ago, OnePlus parent, Oppo released its foldable device, the Find N2 Flip. It takes a cue from the Flip form factor. Asked about the design of OnePlus’ first foldable, Liu pushed his hands together, opening them like a book, appearing to confirm something more in line with the Fold.
