Today, we will be comparing the powerful chips Dimensity 9500 Vs Dimensity 9400! I remember back in October 2024, MediaTek launched the Dimensity 9400. It was super fast, smooth and had lots of features. I have personally tried the Vivo X200 and OPPO Find X8 Pro, they both are incredibly powerful. Fast forward to September 2025, MediaTek is back with the Dimensity 9500.
It is even more powerful in terms of CPU speed, GPU ray tracing, on-device AI, and more. This chip is going to compete with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Apple’s A19 Pro. Let’s check out the ultimate comparison:

Overview

MediaTek has changed some things with the launch of Dimensity 9400. Instead of using small cores that are power-saving, it has used powerful cores for smooth performance. Because of this, the phones are going to feel super fast and much better at multitasking. It is made with a 3nm process by TSMC. This is important because it has also made this chip power-efficient. You will feel that the battery performance will be top-notch.

Performance Details:
CPU:
The Dimensity 9500 has CPU cores called ARM C1-series. MediaTek says the 9500 is 32% faster when doing single tasks and 17% faster when doing many things at once.
It also uses less power. Apps open quicker (42 milliseconds on the 9500). The phone can handle multitasking better. For example, you can edit a 4K video and stream music at the same time without the phone slowing down.
In real life, the 9500 can run hard games and apps like PS3 emulators with less overheating. That’s because it uses 37% less power during multi-core tasks. The Dimensity 9400 was already very strong and even beat the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in some tests.
GPU Details

The Dimensity 9500 is a big deal for gamers. It comes with a new graphics chip Immortalis-G1 Ultra GPU. The 9500 gives you 33% better graphics performance and is 42% more power-efficient. It also has double the ray tracing units. You can even play some games at 120 frames per second with ray tracing.
Games like Genshin Impact will run beautifully on high settings. The Dimensity 9400 was already really good at gaming. For example, it gave about 59fps in tough tests on phones like the Oppo Find X8 Pro. But the 9500 goes about 30% more efficient when you’re gaming and using voice chat at the same time.
Both chips support features like variable rate shading and frame generation. But the 9500 has a bigger L3 cache (16MB vs. 12MB) to reduce lag or stutter.

Benchmarks: Let’s Check The Numbers!
While AnTuTu scores for the Dimensity 9500 and 9400 are from slightly different versions (v11 vs. v10), we can still see that the 9500 is a big upgrade:
Benchmark | Dimensity 9500 | Dimensity 9400 |
---|---|---|
AnTuTu (Total Score) | ~4,000,000 (v11) | ~2,880,000 (v10)~3,000,000 (est. v11) |
Geekbench 6 (Single-Core) | 4,007 | 2,195 |
Geekbench 6 (Multi-Core) | 11,217 | 6,979 |
3DMark Wild Life Extreme | ~18,000 (estimated) | ~15,500 |
AI and Machine Learning

The Dimensity 9400 had an AI chip called the NPU 890. It was one of the first to do LoRA training right on the device. Your phone could learn and improve without needing the internet. It could make videos in real time. Dimensity 9500 takes things to the next level with the new NPU 990. It has up to 100 TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second). It also has Generative AI Engine 2.0. This means your phone can:
- Handle larger language models (128K tokens vs. 32K on the 9400)
- Generate text-to-image results in 4K
- Use 56% less power while doing all that
The 9500 also supports BitNet with super-efficient 1.58-bit models. This is great for always-on AI assistants that are helpful but don’t drain your battery.
You will get faster and better language translation without using the internet. There will be Smarter photo editing (like filling in parts of a photo automatically). You can also see AI helpers that learn your habits and help you out throughout the day.

Camera and Multimedia: Up To 200MP Camera

Both the Dimensity 9400 and 9500 have amazing camera support. The 9500 uses Imagiq 1190 with 200MP cameras and can track moving objects at 30 frames per second. It also uses AI to edit photos in RAW format. This is what professionals use for editing.
It can shoot 4K videos at 60fps with portrait mode. The 9400 was good with things like HDR zoom video, but the 9500 is clearly a step up.
For watching videos, both chips can play 8K videos at 60fps with no problem. But when it comes to live streaming, the 9500 does better. It has a smarter video encoder that can even use AI to make low-quality videos look sharper in real-time. The 9500 has better spatial audio.
Connectivity and Battery Life
The Dimensity 9500 is also better at saving power. This is because:
- It uses 10% less power for 5G and supports 5CC aggregation.
- It also saves 20% more power on Wi-Fi. The chipset has AI that predicts when you’ll need faster internet.
- Bluetooth goes up to 10 kilometres in line-of-sight. It is great for AR glasses or wearables.
When it comes to battery life, the 9500 is super efficient:
- 55% less power from the CPU
- 42% less power from the GPU
- 56% less from the AI chip (NPU)
This means your phone could last 10 to 15% longer in everyday use.

Final Thoughts
In the end, I only have one thing to say. Both the Dimensity 9400 Vs Dimensity 9500 are powerful processors. If you are new to both, then you can definitely opt for the MediaTek Dimensity 9500. But if you already have Dimensity, it will still serve you really good. There’s not much sense in upgrading to the Dimensity 9500.
