Lava Z90

Lava Z90 has a 5.2 inch IPS LCD panel along with the resolution of 720×1080 and the aspect ratio of 282 PPI which is lesser than the clarity of other phones in the price range of 8,999/- like the Redmi 6A or Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. It also has a set of three cameras (8MP+2MP) in the rear and 8MP camera in the front enabled with LED Flash. Thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass, the screen is much more prone to damages or breaks, unlike its contemporaries. Z90 is powered by a powerful quad-core MediaTek processor at 1.3GHz with 3GB of RAM and has Android 7.0 Nougat. It also hosts internal storage of 32GB that can be expanded to 128GB with microSD card. It has a 2,750mAh Li-ion battery with decent longevity.  

Unlike the Z60, the Z90 offers fingerprint reader, which is noticeably faster and accurate than others in the same price range. This makes things a lot easier for users to work. It has a charming look with a smooth finish in Gold and Black colours, but due to the lack of quick charging feature, it can be quickly ruled out for an excellent on-the-go phone. The device is 148.5 x 73.1 x 8.1 mm in size and weighs approximately 159g and therefore can get a bit heavier to hold.

One of the major setbacks for Lava Z90 is that it has a 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor (Cortex A53) which is slower than the Snapdragon and other compelling processors at the same price range. This makes multi-tasking, loading time slow and freezing at times, which can get in the way of doing something important by the users. The ARM Mali T720MP2 GPU struggles to keep the operation of the phone smooth but cannot keep it organized when you’re using too much graphics by playing 3D games or watching similar graphic videos. Also, this device is run by Android 7.0 instead of Android 8.o where the latter works better.

Equipped with a dual rear camera setup (8MP+2MP) and 8MP camera in the front with f/2.0 aperture, the Z90 features Full HD Recording 1080p@30fps. The Z90 cameras can take elegant photos even in low-light, thanks to the LED flash autofocus and promotes the geo-tagging feature. The quality of images which may seem less in clarity to that of the Honor 9N’s (13MP+2MP) rear camera, still delivers more beauty to that of the latter. 

Having the battery capacity of 2,750mAh Li-Ion, the Z90’s battery longevity is above average. but because it lacks any quick charging option, it makes the phone less preferred amongst people who are travelling or for quick roundabouts. 

Lava Z90 cannot be called as a budget smartphone since there are so many more that this phone can provide with at the given price range, like the Honor 9N or Realme U1. But, if you’re 

new to using Android, this phone can end up on your list of starter phones if you’d rely mostly on calling, messaging, photos – rather than multi-tasking.
