  • Google announced Android 12 during its Google I/O 2021 event this week. Its’ public beta is now live. Google unveiled the OS at its I/O 2021 keynote on Tuesday, May 18. They unveil its’ features, update, and release date during the event. In addition, the new operating system will come with a redesigned user interface and enhanced privacy settings. However, there will be a stable release of the new operating system that will be available later this year. One can experience the OS with this first public beta on your devices now.

    Furthermore, Android 12 will have a new interface based on a design language called Material You. The first public beta release also gives you a glimpse of the privacy settings that Google is bringing to your smartphone. Additionally, the next major version of Android is apparently more personal, secure, and work with other devices.

    Will my phone work with the Android 12 public beta?

    According to Google, it is releasing its public beta for its line of Pixel phones. In addition, it will be available select models from OnePlus, ZTE, TCL, Oppo, RealMe, Sharp, Tecno, Vivi, Xiaomi, and Asus. Moreover, Google’s developer website published a one-stop website that includes links directly to the instructions for every hardware partner that’s taking part in the beta program.

     Here are the specific Google Pixel models that can take part in testing Android 12 right now: 

    Any Pixel device above Pixel 3, Asus ZenFone 8, OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, Oppo Find X3 Pro, TCL 20 Pro 5G, iQOO 7, Xiaomi Mi 11 series, ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G. Moreover, some of the models from Sharp, Tecno, and Realme can install Android 12.

    How To Install Android 12

    This time is easy compared to the previous years. For this beta download, it’s considerably easier to get it on one of the supported Google Pixel phones. Start by visiting the Android Beta Program website. Sign in to the site using the same Google account you’re using on your phone. Google will present you with some warnings about using an Android 12 beta operating system. Read through the information and agree to it when you’re done. 

    At the bottom of the page will be a list of phones linked to your account that are eligible to participate in the beta. Click the Opt-In button for the phone you want to enroll in the program. Accept the terms and conditions and click Confirm and Enroll when you’re finished.

    Next, go to Settings > System > Advanced > System Update > Check for update.
