After teasing the successor to the popular Mi Band 4 over the past few months, Xiaomi finally made the Mi Band 5 official in China. With the wearable being teased quite a few times, we were hinted with new strap colours, a refined design and a few more extra features that would be added to the company’s latest Mi Band 5.
Mi Band 5 Launch Price
The Mi Band 5 is launched in two variants – one with NFC support and one without NFC support. The standard non-NFC variant is priced at RMB 189 (around Rs 2,025) whereas the one with NFC support costs slightly higher at RMB 229 (around Rs 2,500). The band is available in our different strap colour options – Black, Green, Yellow and Red.
Mi Band 5 Specifications
The Mi Band 5 boasts a larger 1.2-inch coloured AMOLED display design similar to the one that we saw on its predecessor. The display is one of the major differences when we compare the new Mi Band 5 with the older Mi Band 4 as the latter had a smaller 0.95-inch display. Xiaomi also claims that this display is brighter and also produces more dynamic range of colours compared to its predecessor.
The Mi Band 5 also gets 100+ new animated watch faces and the catalogue is further diversified by a host of other third-party watch faces.
Other significant improvement we see in the Mi Band 5 is a new magnetic charging system. This would enable us to hook the Mi Band 5 to the charging dock magnetically, thus saying goodbye to the tedious task of taking the tracker out of the strap to charge it.

Talking about the fitness-related features, you now get the option to choose between 11 professional sports modes and the band is also capable of tracking menstrual cycles, thanks to the Women’s Health mode. Xiaomi has also made improvements to heart rate tracking and sleep monitoring.

Other features include an inbuilt barometer and the much-loved remote shutter button, which allows user to control the camera of their smartphone using the band. We are expecting the global launch of the wearable to be held soon.
