Verdict – Should You Buy the SONOS Arc?

Summary

If you like the best sound experience and don’t want to compromise on your home entertainment setup, then you might consider SONOS Arc. It is undoubtedly impressive in many ways, from its sleek design to its immersive audio quality.

It’s clear this soundbar was made for people who don’t want to settle for anything less than the best. One of the major things to consider is its higher price, which is 89,999 rupees. Many of us must think about its sound quality and other things.

However, I’m here to give SONOS Arc a detailed review. Is it worth buying? Does its sound perform very well, what are its connectivity options, and Is this built quality enough? So, let’s read my detailed SONOS Arc review before buying.

SONOS Arc price is 89,999 rupees in India. This soundbar comes in two colours black and While. But we have SONOS Arc black colour for review. You can buy it from Amazon and Flipkart. If you have a credit card, then you can get a 1,500 instant discount on purchases.

SONOS Arc Design And Build Quality

SONOS Arc has a beautiful design and about built quality. It has a sleek, attractive design with a minimalist oval shape that is similar to any stylish interior. It does not matter whether you hang it on the wall or keep it on the television set.

The soundbar measures 44 inches in length, which is suitable for larger-sized TVs from 50 inches and above. On the other hand, if your television is smaller, then the SONOS Arc may appear too big for it, which may not appeal to you.

One thing that adds worth is weight. It weighs 6.25 kg, so if you are thinking of fixing it on a wall, ensure that it is anchored well. Even with that weight, I still like the build materials. It has premium-quality plastics with a fine mesh covering the drivers.

SONOS Arc Design

What impresses me most is the subtle, elegant, and stylish design. There are no big and eye-catching trademarks or effects; it only has a very discreet Sonos logo in the middle. However, I would say the SONOS Arc design and built quality review are almost okay.

SONOS Arc Buttons And Ports

Now, let’s talk about the buttons and connectivity. The top side of the SONOS Arc features touch-sensitive buttons that let you control playback and volume and even activate voice assistants like Google Assistant or Alexa. I love these touch controls’ responsiveness because they are sleek and easy to use.

However, when it comes to ports, I would say this is limited. You get an HDMI ARC port and an optical adapter in the box, along with an Ethernet port and a power button. That’s pretty much it. I’m a bit disappointed that there aren’t more connectivity options here.

SONOS Arc ports

If you want to connect multiple devices, you’ll have to buy an external multiple-port connecter, which is not the most convenient. And if your TV doesn’t support HDMI ARC, you’ll have to use the optical adapter, which can be expensive.

Also, there’s no Bluetooth connectivity because SONOS Arc chose to prioritize sound quality, but I really wish they’d at least given us the option to use Bluetooth for casual listening. So, I got buttons that are perfect in the SONOS Arc review, but ports are limited.

SONOS Arc Connectivity And App Experience

SONOS made the SONOS Arc dependent on the Sonos app for wireless connectivity. You must have to download the app, connect the soundbar to your Wi-Fi, and pair it with your TV. Now, the app itself requires some initial setup, and I found the process slightly complex. It also only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, which I found odd, especially since most modern devices work best on 5 GHz networks. I hope Sonos improves this in future versions because we’re in 2024, after all!

On the plus side, once it’s all setup, you can control everything from the app, including volume and EQ (Equalization Mode) settings, and even group multiple Sonos devices for a full home audio experience. That’s a nice touch for those already in the Sonos ecosystem.

One more thing that I really liked was the integration of the voice assistant. If you are a fan of Alexa, you can control your music or TV without touching a remote, which is super convenient. It also supports Apple AirPlay, which is perfect if you’re an iPhone user, which I am. Well, it lacks Chromecast support, which is a bit of a letdown for Android fans.

SONOS Arc Audio Quality

One of the main parts of the SONOS Arc review is its sound, which truly shines. To be honest, I really like how clear and immersive the audio is. Whether I’m watching an action-packed movie or listening to my favourite playlist, the SONOS Arc delivers an impressive performance every single time.

SONOS Arc Sound quality

The soundstage is wide, and the stereo separation is excellent. You can easily tell where each sound is coming from, which makes for a fantastic movie-watching experience. When you watch movies, you can clearly listen to the dialogue, even at low volumes. This is where many soundbars fall short, especially during intense action scenes. But with the SONOS Arc performing well, even in the middle of a chaotic scene, I could still hear every word perfectly. It really enhances the movie-watching experience, and you don’t have to keep adjusting the volume, which is a huge relief.

That said, bass lovers might find the SONOS Arc lacking. While it does have some decent punch, it doesn’t quite hit those deep bass notes that some of you might dream of. You’ll probably want to invest in the SONOS Sub for that full, cinema-like experience. Of course, that’s another hefty investment on top of the already premium-priced SONOS Arc, so it’s something to think about.

Another feature that impressed me is the Trueplay tuning. Even at low volumes, you’ll get clear dialogue and well-balanced sound. This makes it perfect for late-night movie sessions without disturbing the rest of the house. Plus, it adjusts based on the acoustics of your room, so no matter where you place it, you’ll get optimized sound.

Verdict – Should You Buy the SONOS Arc?

If you’re serious about your home entertainment setup and want top-notch audio quality, then yes, go for it. I did the SONOS Arc detailed review, and I got most of the features well, but there are some features you may not like.

SONOS Arc delivers premium sound, and it’s the perfect choice for movie lovers who want a truly cinematic experience at home. Moreover, it is best when it comes to dialogue clarity, sound separation, and overall audio immersion. I’m personally very impressed with how well it performs during movie playback.

However, there are a few drawbacks. If you’re into heavy bass or want a more versatile system with multiple inputs, then you might need to invest in additional equipment like the SONOS Sub, Samsung HW-Q930C, or a switch for multiple devices. The lack of Bluetooth and the app’s support can also be a bit frustrating for some.
