Poco M3 is a smartphone with a glass front and a plastic back with a plastic frame as well. The back houses the triple camera setup and the quite big POCO branding. The back is also textured to give a good grip to hold on to. The front is a glass front with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The front houses the touchscreen and the front selfie camera along with the earpiece. The power button, which also acts as the fingerprint scanner and the volume buttons are both placed on the right side of the device. The top side has the headphone jack and the IR blaster with the mic, the loudspeaker and the USB Type C port on the bottom side of the device.
The Poco M3 is 9.6mm thick and weighs in at about 198g. The Poco M3 is available in colours of Cool Blue, Poco Yellow, and Power Black.
Poco M3 is equipped with a 6.53-inch 1080 by 2340 pixels FHD+ IPS LCD panel. Despite the 90.34 per cent of the screen to body ratio, there is some significant bezel present at the chin of the device. The display is of 19.5:9 aspect ratio and has a pixel density of 395ppi. There is a teardrop-shaped notch on the display for the front camera. The display also has TUV Rheinland Reading Mode Certification which ensures protection of one’s eyes from harmful blue light.
Inside, the Poco M3 is being powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 octa-core processor. It is built on an 11nm node and can clock up to 2.0Ghz. To help with the memory, we have 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM. On the other hand, we have 64GB of UFS 2.1 or 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage options available. The storage can be expanded by the dedicated microSD card slot in the device up to 512GB.
Poco M3 is running on Android 10 with the custom skin of MIUI 12 on top of it.
The camera department on Poco M3 is handled by a triple-camera setup on the back and a single camera on the front.
The triple-camera setup consists of a 48MP main sensor with PDAF, a 2MP macro sensor, a 2MP depth sensor. Lighting is handled by the LED flashlight provided alongside the rear cameras. The video output is capped out at 1080p at 30fps. The front camera is an 8MP wide sensor. The video output via this camera is also capped at 1080p at 30fps.
Poco M3 has a massive 6000mAh Li-Po battery which is powering all of the internals of the device. The battery can be charged at a maximum of 18W via the included power brick. There is mention of 583 hours of standby time, 40 hours of calling, 196 hours of music playback, or 17 hours of video playback on a single full charge. Additionally, Poco claims up to 1000 charge cycles in the Poco M3 battery and up to 25% more life span in room temperature in comparison with the competition.
Poco M3 is a nice package of the specifications and the features which is being offered in a decent plastic body chassis for a smartphone with this kind of price tag. The Poco M3 is worth to consider if one is going to buy a smartphone under ₹12k.
