The OnePlus 8 Pro is OnePlus’ latest flagship and unanimously regarded as the best smartphone yet from the company. Past OnePlus flagships, although delivering great performance, often lagged behind in camera when compared to other rivals such as those from Samsung. But now, it seems that OnePlus has finally delivered what we desired with the OnePlus 8 Pro.
The device has a 48MP ultra-wide sensor, an 8MP telephoto camera, and a new 5MP Colour Filter camera. While the Colour Filter camera seemed to be a gimmick, users found that they could see through some plastic objects. This surprisingly included some thin clothing and certain other materials. This has forced OnePlus to disable the colour filter camera temporarily in a future update.

OnePlus had marketed this Colour Filter camera as a sensor that could be used to apply certain false-colour camera filters. The company claimed that this would allow users to get better results than those achieved through software filters. OnePlus offered the Colour Filter camera on the OnePlus 8 Pro to enhance images with lighting effects and filters.
Many expressed concerns over the feature which enables to see through thin clothing, as it could possibly enable perverse and depraved behaviour that violates the privacy of individuals. Although this seemed innovative, there was surely some action needed on this.
OnePlus has announced they would be temporarily disabling the sensor through a software update. Consequently, this reduces the number of functional rear cameras from four to three, albeit temporarily. The company is expected to rectify these errors and return with a functional alternative to completely utilize the quad rear camera setup.
