Breaking the silence over the OnePlus 9 series, the smartphone company finally launched it on March 24th. OnePlus has launched three new devices under this latest series including OnePlus 9 Pro, OnePlus 9R and the OnePlus 9. Among the three devices, the OnePlus 9 will serve the premium range category with its improved specs over last year’s OnePlus 8. According to OnePlus, there is an awesome display for ultra-smooth performance and superfast 5G speed along with multiple other specs. So let’s get started with a brief summary of the OnePlus 9.

The OnePlus 9 comes with two storage options including 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. In addition, the OnePlus 9 comes in a variety of stunning colours, including Arctic Sky, Astral Black, and Winter Mist. There is a small punch-hole provided at the top left corner for housing the selfie camera and for unlocking the OnePlus 9, OnePlus has gone with the under-display fingerprint scanner. Here the edges are flat and almost bezel-less. On the bottom edge, there is a Type-C charging port along with a SIM tray and speaker grille. The right edge is carrying the volume rocker and the power button.

Coming to the rear, the design is neat and clean with only the OnePlus logo and a large camera bump at the top left position spoiling the scene. The colours and the material that OnePlus has gone with are truly awesome. The frame is made of plastic, which is not a welcome step though. The overall weight is just 183 grams, thus making it comfortable to hold.

OnePlus 9 is a premium range device with its display measuring 6.55-inches and exhibits an impressive 120Hz refresh rate screen. Not only this, the display of OnePlus 9 features 1080 pixels of resolution and along with an aspect ratio of 20:9. The Fluid AMOLED display is provided with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, however, the higher version would have been much appreciated. 

Some of the additional features supported by the display include Reading Mode, Night Mode, Vibrant Colour Effect and Ultra-high Video Resolution.

For seamless performance, OnePlus has offered the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset in OnePlus 9, which is a 5G processor. Surely the gaming experience is going to be awesome with OnePlus 9 since there is 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The Graphics are managed by the Adreno 660 GPU, which is a beast when it comes to graphics-heavy games. The operating system on which OnePlus 9 is running is OxygenOS based on Android 11.

The additional features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, A-GPS, NFS and USB 3.1 GEN1 Type-C. In terms of sound, OnePlus 9 is a beast. There are Dolby Atmos Dual Stereo speakers with noise cancellation support. 

Here OnePlus has mounted this handset with a triple-camera setup, featuring a 48MP primary sensor f/1.8 aperture, followed by an excellent 50MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP Monochrome sensor. Only the telephoto lens is missing here, which could have added more laurels to the camera section of OnePlus 9. The additional features supported by the rear camera include Dual LED Flash, Multi Focus and supports 8K video recording. The camera lens also comes with software support for world-class image processing powered by Hasselblad. 

For selfies, there is a 16MP sensor under the small-sized punch-hole on the front with a Time Lapse feature and supports 1080p video shooting.

OnePlus 9 is an excellent device with quality features like a 5G chipset, a nice set of cameras, a good design, a great fast charging option along with an awesome 120Hz refresh rate display. Although the telephoto lens and the wireless charging is missing, still OnePlus 9 could be the best choice for you if you wish to consider a flagship.
