Once OnePlus 7 came out, many people were looking for another stellar modified version of the OnePlus 7 – the OnePlus 7T. Priced at Rs 37,999, the OnePlus 7T seems to be worth the wait with a fantastic performance, great display, and powerful battery.

As usual, OnePlus struggles to deliver great cameras. However, if you are not a photographer, then the OnePlus 7T will serve you well in most aspects. It is a premium all-rounder worth getting your hands on.

About the Mobile Phone

OnePlus 7T looks stellar and acts like one. It has a few pros and cons:

Pros

  • OnePlus 7T arrives with a sharp and immersive display despite having a notch.
  • The phone has an excellent performance, which can keep even gaming top-notch.
  • The phone has a great battery life with extreme fast charging.
  • The daylight shots of the OnePlus 7T are quite colourful and high quality.

Cons

  • OnePlus 7T looks similar to the previous OnePlus phones and does not come with any surprising design feature.
  • OnePlus 7T does not come with an IP rating – that is, it has zero water and dust resistance.
  • The low-light shots and video recording of the camera could have been better.

The OnePlus 7T is a great phone even though it may not look any different from the previous models. It is a good recommendation for anyone who wants a premium handset with top-notch performance.

There have been different experiments being made regarding the notch of handsets in the recent trends. One of the contemporary design trends is the pop-up selfie camera, along with the erasure of the notch. However, OnePlus 7T has stuck to the water-drop notch. The design is almost similar to the previous OnePlus handsets. However, the rear panel has undergone a significant change. It has a huge camera bump, which looks like the Moto Z series. It has three lenses fit in a horizontal row, and there is a flash underneath them. However, it does have a large bump at the back. The screen borders are thin and rounded, as premium models generally have. There is a gradient look to it too. Excepting the bump, the phone looks quite premium. It has Corning Gorilla Glass in the rear and front. However, the phone does not come with an IP rating for dust or water resistance. The phone does have the traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port. The phone rear can also get smudges, too, but that is a common problem with most premium phones.

OnePlus 7T arrives with a 20:9 aspect ratio, with a large 6.55-inch screen. It has a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. It has a 90Hz refresh rate and comes with HDR10+. It supports P3 and sRGB color gamut too. The notch is quite small, and so, it won’t be an annoyance while watching videos. The colour reproduction is top-notch also, and the brightness is quite high. The display of OnePlus 7T is sharp overall.

The OnePlus 7T is a speedy phone with the Snapdragon 855+ processor and a 90Hz screen. The phone is quite snappy, and it can even perform intensive tasks without entering the slow-down phase. Multitasking can be handled with ease on this phone. The phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner and a face recognition, both of which are quite snappy. The phone gets a fantastic multi-core score of 2,736 points, which is quite incredible. Games with heavy graphics like PUBG can run flawlessly without a problem, even with HDR graphics. However, at ultra-high settings, the phone does get a bit warm.

The cameras of OnePlus 7T is not anything surprising. It has a 48MP primary camera with a beautiful Sony IMX586 sensor. A 16MP camera supports it with a 117-degree wide field of view and a 2x telephoto lens. It does not have a depth-sensor separately, but the cameras combined effort delivers fantastic portraits. The three cameras are quite versatile. The autofocus is a bit iffy and takes time to lock on. When it does lock on, during favorable light conditions, the camera can deliver amazing shots that capture enough details. The wide-angle camera, however, delivers pictures with a fish-eye effect and washed-out quality. The portrait mode is mostly good, but the quality is washed out. At night, the details get washed out, and the images appear blurry. Noise is mostly controlled in such a situation. Night Mode, however, helps in brightening up the shadowy areas. The phone can record 1080p videos, but the transitions can be jarring. Stabilization, however, works well in the daytime. At night, the videos can be jittery.

OnePlus 7T arrives with a 3800 mAh battery, with a new charging capacity called the Warp Charge 30T. It can charge the phone from 0-70% within half an hour as per the claim. The phone can last you for more than a day with light to moderate use. The phone was able to keep chugging for about 14 hours and 35 minutes while running an HD video on loop. The fast-charging falls in line with the claim of OnePlus, getting near 70% in 30 minutes, which is very impressive.

OnePlus 7T is a great phone and is updated from the OnePlus 7. However, while the internals remains quite powerful, the phone does not have a premium, new look that most phones are going for. Instead, it settles for the same look along with the water-drop notch. The phone has a powerful Snapdragon 855+ chipset along with a 90Hz refresh rate screen, making it come near the Asus ROG Phone 2. As a premium phone, OnePlus 7T delivers a lot and is a definite recommendation. However, if you are a photographer or a YouTuber, you may not be satisfied with the phone’s camera performance.
