Nothing Phone 1 vs OnePlus Nord 2: Conclusion
  • Nothing Phone 1 vs OnePlus Nord 2? Which smartphone is better? The upcoming phone by the Nothing Company has created a lot of hype as it is bringing in many new features that the stock Android users are yet to witness. This upcoming phone is said to be a fierce competitor for the OnePlus brand’s highest-selling smartphone, the Nord 2.

The enigmatic start-up Nothing that ex-OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei developed has not disclosed much information about their upcoming phone, the Phone 1, up until now. Since Carl Pei is well aware of why OnePlus is such a successful brand, he definitely has some marketing tricks up his sleeves to woo the audience with his start-up company’s upcoming Phone 1.

As a lot of Techie Journalists have hinted that the price range will close the Nord 2, people who are intrested in purchasing the already available Nord 2 are on hold for now as they want to wait and see what the Nothhig Phone 1 brings in the smartphone industry.

As of now, we have a clear insight into the technical specifications of the Nothing Phone 1 that has been reviewed by a lot of YouTubers on their YouTube channel, so we thought why not make a head-to-head comparison of the Nothing Phone 1 and OnePlus Nord 2 so that our readers who are intrested in either of these phones will have a crystal clear in-depth information about both the phones and know which one will be a better buy for them.

Nothing Phone 1 vs OnePlus Nord 2: Comparison

We will do the in-depth comparison on the following fronts-

    • Display
    • Platform
    • Memory
    • Camera
    • Battery

    Display

Nothing Phone 1 vs OnePlus Nord 2

    2) Refresh Rate-120Hz
    1) Fluid AMOLED
    2) Refresh Rate-90Hz
    3) HDR10+

    Resolution1080 x 2400 pixels (402 pixels per inch density)1080 x 2400 pixels (409 pixels per inch density)
    ProtectionN/ACorning Gorilla Glass 5

Nothing Phone 1 offers nothing exceptional on the display front compared to the OnePlus Nord 2. Nord 2 offers an HDR 10+ for better video quality; the fluid AMOLED screen shown by Nord 2 is considerably more refined than the FHD+ as it has an extra layer of TFTs and follows backplane technology. But, they are much more costly than the FHD+ display, so we can expect the Nothing Phone 1 to be a tad bit cheaper than the Nord 2 because of this reason and also because of the lack of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection for the display.

But there are a few positives to take from the Phone 1 as it offers you a bigger screen compared to Nord 2 and a much better Refresh Rate of 120Hz.

    GPUAdreno 642LMali-G77 MC9

Nothing Phone1 is powered by Android 12 whereas OnePlus Nord 2 features Android 11. However, the User Interface will vary for both as Nothing will offer the Nothing OS as default and OnePlus has been offering their iconic Oxygen OS as default.

Suppose we compare the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ of Phone 1 to the Nord 2’s MediaTek Dimensity 1200. In that case, the Phone 1’s processor outweighs the Nord 2s processer in terms of multi-tasking, gaming and better heat dispensation design but the points where the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 outshines the Phone 1’s processor is in higher GPU frequency(means better graphics are delivered) and also a 25% higher CPU clock speed as Nord 2 offers 3000Mhz clock speed compared to the Phone 1’s 2400Mhz.

Furthermore, the AnTuTu score(AnTuTu is the world’s leading tool for Android smartphones and tablets, that allows you to scan the performance of your device) of MediaTek Dimensity 1200 came out higher at 677K compared to Snapdragons 778G sitting at 531K.

Nothing Phone 1 vs OnePlus Nord 2 -Main Camera

The Main camera of Phone 1 and Nord 2 have the same primary lens, a 50-megapixels lens. Still, things start getting interesting when we see the difference between the secondary camera lens as Phone 1 offers a better 16-megapixel ultrawide lens than Nord 2’s 8-megapixel ultrawide lens.

But in the end, Nord 2 has much more to offer in its Main Camera as it provides the following additional features-

    • Tertiary Lens of 2 Megapixels for micro-focus photography.
    • The Gyro EIS unit helps utilise the Nord 2’s accelerometer to detect slight motions. The camera software analyses those motions and aligns each frame together, ensuring that your pictures do not get blurry.

Nothing Phone 1 vs OnePlus Nord 2 -Selfie Camera

The selfie Camera difference is too much to ignore in the case of these two phones as Nord 2 offers four times more megapixels than the Phone 1 and is also powered with HDR and the Gyro EIS unit to ensure that pictures clicked are not blurry. Nothing’s Phone 1 has no edge over the Nord 2’s selfie camera.

Both the phones offer the same battery size, but in the battery segment, the Nothing’s Phone 1 has pretty cool features over the Nord 2-

    • Phone 1 offers Wireless Charging, so you have a hassle-free charge every time.
    • Phone 1 also offers Reversed Wireless Charging, wherein the Phone 1 act as the charging station and can be used to charge another wireless device which in the case of Phone 1 is charging the Nothing Ear 1 Bluetooth Headset.

Nord 2 outshines in the 65W charger that is provided for much faster charging, but the Nothing Phone 1 buyer can always go for a higher wattage charger to compensate for their charging speed.

Nothing Phone 1 vs OnePlus Nord 2 Conclusion

Nothing’s upcoming Phone 1 offers nothing literally over the Nord 2 on the technical front. Still, there is one ultimate feature that will make people buy this phone is the LED notification system which the Nothing developer calls the Glyph Interface, wherein 900 LEDs are placed in a pattern all over the back of the Phone 1, around the dual cameras, around the wireless-charging, pad in the middle, and then some stripes up into the corner, and then down by the charging port at the bottom.

These LEDs also light up and illuminate when you’re wireless charging or reverse wireless charging, which is fantastic. Still, there is also a feature where when you plug into USB-C to charge, it lights up that bottom bar and then acts as a progress bar indicator. And, of course, you wouldn’t want that to stay lit up all the time, so it turns off, but anytime you want to check on it, all you’ve got to do is shake the phone a little bit, and it lights up again so you can see how far you have charged the phone.

We hope our article has given a great insight into the differences between Nothing’s Phone 1 and OnePlus’s Nord 2 and helps you decide which is the better phone for your needs.
