UIDAI Brings New Addition This July: Update Email ID On Aadhaar Card For Free
UIDAI has introduced a new feature that enables Aadhaar holders to add or update their email address directly through the official Aadhaar mobile app.
Effective from July 1, 2026, the service is being offered free of cost for six months, with the usual Rs. 75 update fee waived exclusively for app users. The initiative aims to improve digital accessibility and reduce the need for visits to Aadhaar enrolment centres.
According to UIDAI, more than 2.5 lakh email updates were completed within the first two days of the launch. Registering an email address allows users to receive real-time authentication alerts, improving transparency and helping detect unauthorised Aadhaar usage.
Available on both Android and iOS, the feature is part of UIDAI's ongoing efforts to expand secure, app-based self-service facilities under the Digital India initiative.
How To Use This Feature?
- Download or update the official Aadhaar App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Log in and complete the required identity verification.
- Open your Aadhaar profile and select the Update Email option.
- Enter your email address and verify it, if prompted.
- Submit the request. The email update is processed free of charge through the app during the six-month waiver period.
