Twitter has been in the headlines for quite some time now, with various things happening. The recent hostile takeover bid by Elon Musk and Twitter’s “poison pill” reply has become popular headlines. However, a recent announcement by the CEO Parag Agarwal confirmed that Elon Musk was a board member of the company and that Twitter is working on an edit button for the website and application.
We got an exclusive look at the edit button on the website, and here is why we feel the tweet edit feature is important.

Tweet Edit Feature: Its Importance and Implications
The Twitter edit button is one of the most-awaited features for social media users. Though the company has joked about this feature several times, Elon Musk’s poll brought up this feature once more. Over 70 per cent of the votes choose Yes, indicating the need for this feature. This feature would come in handy when users make typos, as currently, users cannot fix their tweets. Instead, they can delete the tweet or add another tweet as ‘Quote Retweet’ or a Thread to correct it.

Deleting a tweet or post is not a popular choice for many. Deleting tweets often means losing all the popularity and engagement the post has gathered.
Twitter Edit Button Spotted on Twitter Website
Developer Alessandro Paluzzi first spotted the edit button on Twitter on the web interface.
In his tweet, he has shared screenshots of the feature. After a user posts the tweet, the ‘Edit Tweet’ option is placed in the three-dot menu. This can be found under the option to View Tweet analytics. Once the user clicks on the ‘Edit Tweet’ button, it goes back to the compose window from where they can edit the particular tweet. However, the Blue coloured ‘Tweet’ button changes to ‘Update’.

In another tweet by Nima Owji, a gif of the feature shows how it works. However, he also states that editing the tweet does not allow users to change the audience of the tweet.
Twitter has announced that the edit tweet feature would be exclusively available for Twitter Blue users. The company also shared a short gif showing the quality in the app and not on the web interface. However, there has been no confirmation regarding when we can expect the feature to be live for users, nor when it will be available for Android and iOS applications.
