Qualcomm has launched its new flagship mobile chipsets, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The Snapdragon 8 Elite series launch marks a major step for the company, with both platforms built on a 2nm process and designed for next-generation premium smartphones.
The new chipsets focus heavily on on-device AI, gaming, cameras and connectivity. Qualcomm says smartphones powered by these platforms will deliver faster AI processing while improving overall performance and power efficiency.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Series Launch With These Features
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 sits above the standard Gen 6 model as the flagship chipset. Both platforms use Qualcomm's next generation Oryon CPU architecture, with peak clock speeds reaching 5GHz.

The Extreme Gen 6 also gets an upgraded Adreno GPU with matrix cores and Adreno Neural Fusion. These improvements are aimed at delivering better graphics performance and smoother gaming.
AI, Camera And Connectivity Upgrades
AI is one of the biggest areas of focus in the Snapdragon 8 Elite series launch. Qualcomm has equipped them with its Hexagon Element Accelerator, which helps smartphones run larger AI models directly on the device. The Qualcomm Sensing Hub also supports low power personal context features.
For photography and video, both platforms support 8K recording at 60fps and advanced HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+ and Google Ultra HDR.
Connectivity also gets a major upgrade. The chipsets feature Qualcomm's X105 5G Modem RF System, offering peak 5G download speeds of up to 14.8Gbps. They also support Wi Fi 8 and Bluetooth 6.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite series launch will pave the way for new flagship smartphones from brands including Honor, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, Oppo, Redmi, RedMagic, Vivo and Xiaomi. These devices are expected to showcase the new chipsets' AI, gaming and connectivity capabilities.
